1989 Comanche OEM Rear bumper
krustyballer16 replied to voecks1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I think original and Fey are about the same gauge material. Neither was very thick. 12 gauge maybe. And I think people have used a front bumper on the rear. Looks...ok .. For a good looking bumper, I'd go with dirtbound. Might be an "offroad" bumper but it's the best looking option I think. Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk -

Building a new front bumper

This isn't a hidden winch bumper. I don't want to cut my crossmember out yet. But I plan on it sometime. I have a few people wanting me to make them a hidden winch setup. I was just wondering if there's anything anyone would want in a front bumper if I made them. This is all rough and I'd like to eventually have these lasered out and formed... Worked on it a little tonight. When you want a nice clean cut and for it to be even on both brackets, you tack em together and use a slugger bit to get rid of most of the unwanted material then grind smooth. Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk -
Found one that is barely big enough but also too big at the same time... Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk

Gauge Pods for 86 Comanche

I wouldn't see what the difference is. All the A pillar trim is the same right? Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk -
Stores that get stuff in boxes have no communication or just don't care. Tell them to save me boxes and they say "ok, come back Friday, we'll have a bunch." Go back Friday and nobody has any clue about saving them. I just thought about bed room furniture stores and maybe windshield places... Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk

I'm needing cardboard boxes to ship bucket seats and fragile mj interior pieces. All of it is off shaped and lengths. I need oversized boxes and nobody has any big enough. Or at least the places I've looked and asked around at. I need a big one-minimum of 50x24x18 for the interior. I need 2-36x24x8 for door panels. And for the seats, which I think u haul might have something close, i need 24x24x24. I've got thick cardboard and 175' of bubble wrap to help bundle everything up. Anybody have any place to buy boxes or know of anything that comes in boxes this big that I could keep an eye out for? Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk

Building a new front bumper

Could fit right under the header panel and only stick out an inch or less... Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk -
Need some of you guys' input on it since it might be something else I start building. This one is actually going on my XJ. I had an olddd nates 4x4 bumper made outta 2x4 tubing. Got it at a decent price, added a receiver, light protection and some "decorative" cover pieces on the side. I started ROUGH mock up at work. Its 24" of 5/16"x4.5" (closest i could find to what i needed) down each frame rail to build off of. 1/4" plate, 10" wide across the bottom to mount a winch to. And some different angles up front and I'll need something to mount a fairlead to. And d ring tabs will run down the frame tie ins I kinda wanted something that looks like the narrow dirtbound bumper. Throw some ideas and pics in here. For now it will only be as wide as the frame. Just for recovery. Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
