Exhaust Recommendations?
Knucklehead97 replied to Minuit's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm about to run mine with a thrush welded or turbo muffler. With 2.5" pipes, no cat, and possibly a 3" tip. Ive heard lots of good stuff about the mufflers :D -
I was lucky enough to be a homeschooled kid. My curfew is early but my wakeup time is late :D gotta love that sleep.

I broke my breaker bar during my brothers ball joint replacement xD and air ratchets are a dream i have. To be honest i don't even have a floor jack, just a bottle one. I don't care what i have to put in this Comanche, whether it be sweat blood or cash, its not going anywhere. I'm still wondering how i havent seen you driving around, i can spot a comanche from a mile away. Closest ive seen to one that looked like yours, was a white 2wd five speed 4.0 in the dollar tree parking lot beside hobby lobby. Which i kindly stuck a note in the windshield of asking how much for :D (this was way before i had mine)

Working on getting a garage set up so i have a floor to work on when this bama rain makes it a marsh >.> and I'm hoping to start my bumper removal andpainting this weekend :D along with new front tires for my brother and I's jeeps. I need a new rear passenger side flare, forgot the PO snapped that one on a tree >.>anybody know someone that has one?

Great. Its hard enough getting one wrench up there

I might hit you up on that sometime, if my mom starts allowing people in my yard haha (I'm just sixteen, so) I'm just a hair outside collinsville in a little valley known as duck springs. I can't believe theres someone else with a comanche around here that actually builds them up. Ive only seen 4 around town. Are the bolts a bolt and nut or are they threaded to the frame?

Thanks! :D

Not Dw, But Needs Fixin
Knucklehead97 replied to ftpiercecracker1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I don't want to thread jack, but I'm havin pretty much the same issue. Just at 43 mph and it seems to clear up some at about 50-60. I just got all new steering installed (TRE, trac bar, steering stabilizer) and it helped some but still its bad. Would this be tires (my front tires are wore out to almost comeplete baldness), or ball joints? Please say tires >.< Thanks -
New Clutch, Or New Tranny?
Knucklehead97 replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Ill go ahead and change it to be safe considering who knows the last time it was! I'm just happy that my fear was misplaced. The fund is being started for new engine, tranny, and upgraded axles before my lift begins. Thanks for the help guys. Knucklehead -
New Clutch, Or New Tranny?
Knucklehead97 replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Ive been a little wary of it going out because I'm newto the art of manual transmissions and have been a little hard on the clutch while learning. Then like i said, it seemed like i had no power when i hit the gas going up a hill, but I'm starting to think ot was just my rear end sliding instead of picking up traction. I'm deffinetely going to get an external slave, and I'm thinking of reusing my tcase and just changing to the 23 spline so it will work. I'm going to go for a drive tomorrow and see if it was the clutch, hopefully ill get lucky and it wasn't. Any opinions on using the same tcase with a new shaft? -
New Clutch, Or New Tranny?
Knucklehead97 replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks for the post man! Helped a good bit with cost ideas. I looked around where i was starting and felt lack of power, and i found my tire tracks dug into the wet dirt. Hopefully it was just lack of traction instead of clutch burning out. Ive already gotta get ball joints, front tires, and an alignment so i can go over 43 mph. I really can't afford a clutch or tranny haha. Deff gonna add up costs and start saving for tranny and engine swap though -
Its feeling like my clutch is starting to give out. And I'm wondering if i should replace the clutch in my ba10 or buy a better ax15? How much would a 4x4 ax15 cost, though? And if i got one, what all would i need to change on my truck for it to fit right? Thanks.

1992: Stacy - Clutch Replacement 6/08
Knucklehead97 replied to 92tanMJ's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
I'm having the same problem with my parking brake, nearly takes my fingers off when I release it. Havn't thought to adjust though, good idea. Looks to be a great truck after you get past all the small problems, I shall be following the build. -

Well I think it's time for another update. I apoligize for my lack of them but my father became ill with liver cancer over the months and recently passed away Thursday morning. Now I hope to keep my updates more... Up to date. A decent bit (to me at least) has been done on my MJ. Including a Kenwood stereo with 4 6.5" Kenwood 3-ways being installed. My whole interior is bedlined in black Rust-oleum, soon I will be using the half gallon I have left to do some of the bed. I've got my H4 headlight upgrade to install. my 4 foglights to mount on a roof rack. I've gotta black out my front bumper because I'm not a big crome fan. I've got all the steering components I need to hopefully fix my slight wobble, ends up the steering stabilizers bar is far from straight. I should be installing them later this evening after I get my benchseat back in. Otherwise what I need to get done badly is have a window shop re-seal my whole truck, theres air and water leaks everywhere. And another thing that had been time consuming was my brothers XJ's ball-joint replacement. I do not ever recommend doing it without a air-impact hammer because now I'm out 3 ratchets and a breaker bar. But we got it done and his truck runs perfect without any wobble. I also added a roof rack I got for free to the top of his and 2 of the 4 foglights my truck came with, looks great :D Hopefully I can now provide more interesting and thoroughly placed updates. Float Assembly Problems... Still.
Knucklehead97 replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I moved the hand of the gauge back to the bottom to see what it did. When I turned the key it slowly moved back past full. So I'm guessing it's deffinetely a ground problem. Started pouring down rain before I could diagnose the rest. Hopefully will find it tomorrow. -
Float Assembly Problems... Still.
Knucklehead97 replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm going to check all the wires and make sure everythings grounded right and if the gauge isn't stuck. And try a couple of the checks to just be positive. Then if not I guess I'll go to a junkyard and pick me up a XJ 120 MPH cluster  Thanks -
Float Assembly Problems... Still.
Knucklehead97 replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I disconnected the plug and turned the key. It still was reading over full. It's right on top of that right screw on the gauge. And it stays there even when the trucks off. I havn't connect the fuel sender wire to a common ground yet to try, but I am tomorrow if it'd stop raining :fs1: Could it maybe just be a broken gauge? I'd expect the gauge to be reading under empty if I had the truck off. -
Float Assembly Problems... Still.
Knucklehead97 replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks for the replys  I'm hoping that it's just a bad ground or something cause float's are pretty hard to come by it seems. I'll try these tomorrow and hopefully be able to keep up with my gas now. Thanks -
I'm still stumped by my float assembly not reading. I havn't yet gotten the gas low enough to take the pump and all out without flooding myself with gas. At first I thought the float just wasn't floating, but then I noticed that my guage is always reading over full. Which would mean the float would have to be floating, or stuck. Now I'm wondering if it's my guage, or wiring, or maybe a relay or fuse? Thanks

Well I'm working on getting the carpet and benchseat out, but I've run into a wall. I don't have the right type of screwdriver to unbolt the seatbelts :hmm: Does anyone know what size head it is so I can go buy one? Also is there any way to get the benchseat out without unbolting the seatbelts? Thanks
