  1. Back again :rotf: This one has a nice looking interior, a couple dents in it, and a really high mileage. But might be worth it? What you guys think http://shoals.craigslist.org/cto/3434612520.html
  2. Theres been some really nice ones. Such as the one in Rainsville that I nearly got for 32, but the guy sold it to someone paying 36 -.- I'm just gonna keep on looking. It's what I know how to work on, cause of my brothers Cherokee. I don't feel like learning how to work on something else, quite yet.
  3. The guy wouldnt take less than 25 for it. I told him I'd pass. If it had been closer to me I wouldve went and looked before making the decision, but it wasnt. The search is still on
  4. I wrote down everything Alexia noticed and am mentioning it when I call him again (I can't thank you enough for noticing all of that, it was stuff I didnt even think to look for) The guy actually is a member on here, but I didnt get his username. Hopefully he'll come down to a better price.
  5. I shall take y'alls word for it
  6. He said he'll come down on the price cause of the tranny. When I talk to him Friday to get his address I'm going to offer 2500, you think thatd be good? Knucklehead97
  7. Hey guys. Sorry I fell off the face of the earth for awhile  But I'm back, still searching for the Comanche. And I found one I'm probably looking at this weekend, and purchasing if it's good. http://chattanooga.craigslist.org/cto/3433326704.html I called the guy, and he said he'd hold on to it for me till this weekend when I can come look at it. It's a longbed (main thing I love about it, after the fact its a 91) He said theres one small problem with the transmission, he said that you have to put it in first gear, then swap it to drive and it'll swap gears. He just said that it won't swap into first by itself. Do ya'll know what that could be, and if it'd be expensive or hard to fix? Thanks Knucklehead97
  8. Well nothing new on the search. But would any of yall happen to know anything about a 97 Cherokee? My brothers won't crank, even though the batterys charged. I tried to crank it the other day, and the starter turned once, then I heard a soft pop and all the electronics died. I'm thinking we blew a fuse, or the ignition switch went out. Opinions?
  9. Thats the one I liked most as well. But it's a 2 1/2 hour drive just to get there :hmm:
  10. Thanks for posting up the Craigslist results! Saves me the trouble of getting on there with my slow internet  The first Gadsden one (the only new one I hadnt seen) is right up the road from me, and is a good year model with seemingly everything I wanted (4wd, I6, 5-speed) It seems it got bumped in the rear passenger side part of the bumper which I'm hoping is just a bumper problem and not a frame or bed dent too. Also it has 207 K on the motor, I'd rather less, but if everything works. I'd pay the 14 for it. Interior doesnt look the best, but it's a 22 year old truck. I'm going to call the guy in the morning, and possibly go check it out this week if it sounds decent  Knucklehead97
  11. Well the guy from Rainsville sold the really good one :fs1: Really sucks cause that one was the exact Comanche I was looking for other then not being a LWB. Still searching, but also researching other trucks. Hoping another one like that one will come up soon. Knucklehead97
  12. True :rotf: But it also means that all the restoring he did to the truck, might not be to great. If it had been a 4x4, I'd have talked longer. And if I wasnt buying on the brink of winter, I'd take the time to swap it to 4x4. I'm to picky
  13. Well I called the guy and all I can say is that he's honestly not the brightest person ever, and I'd rather not do business with a guy who wasnt even sure if it was an inline or a V-6. He called it a inline first, then a V-6, then a inline again. And was actually asking me questions about Comanches.
  14. I know I seem bipolar for this probably. But I thought a bit more about the cheap one, and have decided to talk to the guy more about it. If everything else is good (will be making a VERY thorough search if I go look at it.) Then I might feel like messing with a tranny seal. The guy said it'll be 150 to fix, but I'm not sure if thats for just the seal or for a shop to do it for me. I really just don't want to buy a different truck, I havnt even gotten a Comanche and I've already got the bug :fs1:
  15. I talked to the guy about the super cheap one, it needs a couple tranny seals and he's selling it for 1275 now. I turned it down cause I really don't want to mess with anything involving the transmission  I'm still hoping on the Rainsville one, but I'm not going to know for sure till Friday. If not then hopefully another good one will come up by December, after that I've got to start looking at other trucks because I have to have one before January so I'll have my own vehicle when I get my liscense. If not a Comanche I'll be looking a Nissan Hardbody extended cabs, not nearly as good but still a reliable truck to have as my first. But fear not I'll still be on the search for a Comanche to build into pure wheeler since I'll already have a DD  Never going to give up on finding one. Knucklehead97
  16. Already planned to check everything twice. But the guy hasnt emailed me back. I'm hoping the one from Rainsville doesnt get purchased by the guy from Tennessee -.-
  17. update time guys. The owner of the one I posted, has a guy from Tennesee coming Thursday to look at it, so he said I can't come unless he doesnt buy it from him thursday (I'm assuming he's paying more then I am, I'm not paying a ccent over 3200 though.) So I may be looking at this one tomorrow http://bham.craigslist.org/cto/3379920839.html It seems to be good, if the guy really did restore it comepletly, and did the job half decently. I'm hoping its got the right transmission and is 4wd cause I'd rather pay 18 for it then 32 for the other one (if it's even still there thursday) Either way I'm hoping I can go inspect it tomorrow, and I'll keep you guys updated
  18. Very true, but then again, down here we have beautiful valleys and all that other fun country stuff  Now just to make it through the long wait till the weekend, to see if he's already sold it or wants me to come down there to check it out  Knucklehead97
  19. I'd really appreciate that man  And I will be taking as many precautions as possible, such as carfax and checking every inch of it. If the guy hasnt sold it by this weekend, we're going to meet up so I can inspect it. He said the price is pretty firm but he might go down to 3200. So I'm bringing a KBB report for a 92' shortbed with everything his has, to try to lower the price some more cause KBB says it's worth about half what he's asking  Hopefully I'll be able to bring it home for around 3000, i'll be very happy at that price. The taillight is deffinetely going to be brought up :rotf: Knucklehead97
  20. Calling him when my brother gets home with my cellphone, hopefully going to go look at it this weekend
  21. well guys I don't think I'm going to have to worry about a BA/10. A VERY nice Comanche just appeared near me on Craigslist, only problem is the guys wanting 3600 :dunno: I'm probably going to meet him and try to talk him down, but here's the link to the sell page, tell me what you think  http://gadsden.craigslist.org/cto/3372743655.html What would you guys offer him? I was thinking at most 2800
  22. Thanks  I checked Autotempest and there wasnt anything more then what I had already found. Yesterday I walked with a friend to a house that had a nice Comanche sitting there, but the guy was addicted and wouldnt sell :hmm: Hopefully one will come up soon. I talked my dad into letting me get one with a BA10/5, so my options are more open now. Not many of them left for selling around here. Knucklehead97
  23. Thanks for the good wishes  And I posted my location in the starting post in this topic, here "What I'm looking for is a Comanche near Northeast Alabama (I don't think my family will drive me very far, and I'm about 4 months away from my license. I'm in Gadsden.)" I'll add my location to my profile as soon as I can. I'm going to talk to my dad about it, he just really wants me to have something reliable that won't leave me on the side of the road with a shattered transmission gear :dunno: (bad experiance with my brothers automatic transmission when we were tweaking the connection. Ended up cutting out when we were going up a steep hill) One of the problems with me swapping out a transmission, is I have a comeplete dirt yard. So theres no rolling being done at all for swapping one out :hmm: If it comes down to it I'm sure he'll allow me to get one with a BA10/5 Theres a blue Chief in great condition on Craigslist, I know thats the rarest color to have :brows: Thanks. Knucklehead97
  24. Thanks! I found a local online yardsale for the county I'm in, maybe one of the Comanches I've seen driving around will be on it  Theres a nice white one with a black interior that I saw last year  If it wasnt for my dad wanting me to have an AX-15 transmission instead of the crappy BA10/5, I'd already have found a Comanche to purchase >.< Of course I'd rather have the AX-15, but it's hard to find a comanche with one, that someones wanting to get rid of.
  25. Officially have the money in my name, and my dads feeling much better  I've checked all the nearby Craigslists, and nothings popped up yet, I check them every couple days just in case one comes up. Are there any other sites like Craigslist? If any of you around Northern AL may know someone selling one that nearly fits the specs I added in my first post, please inform me  Knucklehead97
