Brothers Dw Is Back
Knucklehead97 replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I understand that. I just wonder why it wouldn't wobble for a couple weeks and now it will hardly go 30 without it. -

I am very much so a procrastinator, sir! :D but I'm also an extremely busy, broke, 16 year-old haha. I also don't want to put any of my brothers money in the wrong place, which is why I drove it myself to see. But now balance seems to be the only thing. He said a week ago it tried to DW on him while he was slowing down to turn, but didnt. -

Well I'm back. Wanted to see how it drove myself so I greased up his tie rod ends, track bar, and drag link. Took the truck going about 60 down a road with a few nice bumps, trying to get it to wobble and it wouldnt. So I sent him off feeling good about it and he drove it for 2 weeks. Then yesterday I had a church play and he came to it after work, and let me drive home cause he was tired from work. I come down a mountain going 30-40 and hit a bridge, then coming off the bridge I hit a bump and wham! dw is back! And no, we never had the tires rebalanced with a hunter balancer (we've been busy so neither of us have gotten the chance to ask around. Gonna check at the local jeep dealer while we're in town tomorrow.) Should he also get a steering stabilizer? I do believe his is almost shot. Thanks -

I just checked rockauto and they have the same things oreilly had. I guess I just need to try to get them fitted right. -
Fuel Injector Leak
Knucklehead97 replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The o rings. They didnt seem right when i was putting them on the injectors, but I figured they would work. I'm going to mess with them tomorrow and see what I can do. They're all oreillys had though. -
Fuel Injector Leak
Knucklehead97 replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
4 of the 6 injectors are leaking cause of the orings I put on. So theres a wasted 30 dollars on top of the 65 I can't get back for the injectors. -
Fuel Injector Leak
Knucklehead97 replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Bead blaster? Whats that? I got the fuel injector oring kits. They came with 2 brown orings, a weird blue cap looking thing with a hole in it (I'm guessing it goes on the tip of the injector) and a weird hard plastic white ring. I'm guessing I should just use the 2 o rings considering nothing on the injectors looks like the other 2 pieces. Just waiting on a non rainy day now. -
Fuel Injector Leak
Knucklehead97 replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I pulled all the plugs and cleaned them. They looked really burnt, like black. Which of coursebthey are making the engine turn by creating a small explosion,. But they were more burnt than my old plugs, and these are only 2 months old. -
Fuel Injector Leak
Knucklehead97 replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I actually had my brother move the throttle arm some to increase RPMs while I sat in the cab to shut the engine off if anything happened. When he did that I got backfires consistantly. Which really just adds to the idea its getting to much gas. It smells even stronger of unburnt gas than it did before I changed the O2 sensor. Ill be getting the Orings tomorrow after my interview, and changing the injectors if I have time afterwards -

The truck is running like its getting to much fuel, Says.my brother in law. Which with that 2 OHMs, maybe it pushing to much fuel through the injectors? -

Knucklehead97 replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Tested the Ohms on my old injectors. 16.2-16.5 on all of them. Could the difference in these OHMs and the difference in the new injectors OHMs make it run rough? -

Knucklehead97 replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm going to try all of this. Then if that doesn't work I'm going to pick up a set of O-rings and slap my old injectors back in. See if thatbwill make it run right. -

Should I change the plugs, could that fix it? I don't want to put money in the wrong place right now. Thanks guys. -

And no, I never did. I changed them a couple months ago but not since the injector change. -
Fuel Injector Leak
Knucklehead97 replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Just tested the resistance of the injectors. 1st: 14.7 OHMs. 2nd: 14.9 OHMs and would jump to 27.1 for a second when I moved the prongs to the opposite injector prong I originally touched. 3rd: 14.8 OHMs. 4th: 14.6 OHMs. 5th: 14.7 OHMs and jumped just like 2 did. 6th: 14.7 OHMs. Does this all sound correct? Could all this just be as simple as the spark plugs are not arcing correctly or something? I'm honestly stumped and a bit scared of having to dump another couple hundred dollars into this. -

New update. Cranked it up, it ran OKAY for a couple seconds. Then it just started running terribly. Could it be pistons not firing because of either spark or fuel injectors? -
Fuel Injector Leak
Knucklehead97 replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Just changed the map line. It seems to run pretty good now. I havent driven it or left it running for long yet though. I hear kind of a light knock every 3 seconds or so while its running. What could this be? And how can I check that all the pistons are firing, just to make sure? I've got a job interview sunday so quick replies would be very appreciated! -

Already planned to do that once I could get it to a pressure washer. Havent been able to yet sadly. -
Fuel Injector Leak

All are correctly connected. And I do believe my valve cover may be the culprit of my oil leak instead of the RMS. But the smoke appeared quickly and usually doesnt come out of the engine compartment. It also didnt really smell like burning oil. -

Ill pick some up at oreillys while I'm there. What do you think is creating the smoke from behind the engine? I couldnt see any wires hitting the exhaust pipe -

Can I find the throttle body side bushing anywhere for the MAP line? Just thought Id change it if I could so its all air tight. -

Knucklehead97 replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Fuel pressure was fine. Truck cranked and started! But runs EXTREMELY rough. And has unknown weird smelling smoke coming from behind the engine. I'm changing my MAP sensor hose tomorrow. What else could result in really rough idle and weird smelling smoke from behind the engine? Super happy it started. Now to figure the rest out :D -

I will check the map line again. Ill actually take it off this time. What pressure shluld I look for without the engine on? I still can't get it to start -
Fuel Injector Leak
Knucklehead97 replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I had a couple rainy days here in Bama so havent been able to work on it again until today. I turned the key to ON a couple times and got pressure in the rail. Then relieved it and did it again to make sure it was consistant. Then pulled the plugs and they were all wet with fresh gas (tried cranking it again before i pulled the plugs. and it got closer to starting this time) tomorrow I'm testing the fuel pressure and hopefully testing the actual spark on all plugs. I'm thinking its the spark plugs more than the fuel pump. How much pressure am I looking for? -

I just had trouble pressing the fuel rail on. I got it on though and used the old Oring to put the fuel line back in. They looked and felt fine. And I made sure all vac lines are connected and in good condition. I didn't know about the priming the fuel rail. Ill try that tomorrow as well.
