  1. Hi all. I have an 88 with the guages but no tach, and I have a line on a 93 cluster with all options. I know the 93 will have an electric speedo but is there a way to swap just the speedo's out or to convert from a mechanical drive speedo in the trans(2wd) to an electric output? Cheers Dave
  2. 87 and older is different from 89 and newer. Don't know which one of the two 88 uses. Trying to see the picture well enough and going from memory, the above part number is for the 87 (88?) and older ones. The OP never stated what year his truck was. I have an 88 and this is the correct cable as I need the clip type vs the bolt on. Thank you Dave
  3. Yup. Tomorrow I'll be heading to the parts store to get the proper socket and tackle breaking the nut off, retorquing the stud and cleaning all the contacts to finish my ground upgrade. Then the c101 and I can move onto mechanical checks/repairs.
  4. Me, too. But two 6 gauge cables will be fine, especially having one from the critical dipstick tube stud to the chassis. Actually, I have a 4 gauge from the stud..... That is what I thought as the 6g is larger than the stock grounds. I planned on adding a jumper to the stud too but was unable to get it off as the stud is loose and I didn't have a female tamper-proof torx to hold the stud while getting the nut off. Also noticed the PO moved the neg terminal from the battery to mount to the stud so I will likely just clean the stud and mating grounds as I have a jumper from neg cable to the firewall anyways so once the stud is cleaned up I don't think there is a point adding a chassis ground to it as there is already one on the neg cable is there? Original Dash Ground New Ground Termination (other end of jumper cable) Negative Cable to Chassis (Rad mount, and yes, I know I need to replace the terminal as it has been badly beaten for some reason) New Block to Firewall Had a lot of fun at the end too as I noticed my Serp belt was half cocked off the PS pump pulley and upon resetting it back onto the pulley in it's propper grooves I discovered the PO removed/lost the adjuster bolt for setting belt tension. A little cursing and rummaging through the spare hardware bin and I managed to find a nut/bolt combo that would grab enough to set tension and be able to drive home... Joys of used vehicles I guess... Thanks all Dave
  5. cool, that is good to know, though I now have it down to about 5 min to pull the cluster and strip the cable out of the truck and vise versa... One source left is a guy who runs a Jeeps only parts store that works on mostly 40's-80's Jeeps. Said he may have one that will work for me... Cheers
  6. Hello. I will be doing this today but was wondering if anyone knows if a 6g cable would be ok for block-firewall and battery neg-rad grounds? I have a lot of power wire left from an amp I used to have but it is 6g vs the 4g recommended here.
  7. Thanks for this, though it seems it may not be avail in Canada as no one seems to be able to get one for trucks without cruise control. Oh well, one more source to check, then to the junkyard. Thank you Dave

    E-Cigs

I use a product called "Smoke NV" http://www.smokenvshop.com/ They have a kit and disposable cigarettes so you can try one disposable if you wanted to. They have no nicotine or tobacco so it doesn't solve a chemical addiction if you have one but they are great for me as I had no real trouble quitting smoking in the sense of chemical withdrawl or addiction vs just the act of smoking(I have ADD so figiting with a cigarette felt good to me even if I wasn't smoking) It smokes like a cigarette, feels like a cigarette (though quite a bit heavier because of the battery) and truly makes me feel better when I'm getting figity. I also like the disposable option as there is no investment, it is only $10 for a cig which gives you "300-350 puffs" The SMOKE NV Disposable Vaporizer 1 Smoke NV Disposable Vaporizer is equivalent to 300-350 Puffs Instructions for use: a) Open the Protective Tube B) Tighten Cartridge securely to the battery c) Inhale to activate d) Red indicator light will glow e) Unit will produce Vapor f) When Vapor is no longer produced dispose of the Smoke NV Disposable E-Cigarette (battery & cartridge) Once opened, product must be consumed within 2 weeks Store Only in Room Temperature Environments Dunno about the 2 weeks thing though as I don't go through them too quickly so mine are used for longer :dunno:
  9. Hey all, I have a 4.0L Rwd. Can I drive it without a speedo cable hooked up or will things get into the trans via the opening? Can I just put some tape over it or a pill bottle or something? I am just talking the cable itself, the gear assembly will still be in the trans. I need to pull it to fix it/replace it but the parts stores seem to not be able to find one so I want to match the new cable before I buy one but don't know when I'll have time to reattach everything. Thank you Dave
  10. Pretty much. Let's see if this will show up large enough to read: Thanks all for the help And thanks Eagle for the chart, that is an awesome one for sure. Cheers Dave
  11. Here in Vancouver (BC) it's around $1.40/Litre depending on time of the day and day of the week.
  12. 245 by what? And when you say 30.5s ... that's not a tire size. Are you really talking about 31x10.50s, which are typically 30.5" in diameter, or are you talking about 30x9.50s, which are typically 29.5" in diameter? 245/75-15s are also 29.5" in diameter. 245/70-15s are 28.5" in diameter. 245/75-16s are 30.5" in diameter. What do you have? I stand corrected, I don't know where 30.5 came from. The rears are a 30x9.5 R15 and the fronts are 245/75 R15 So off your statement I'd say I'm splitting hairs in sizes anyways Cheers
  13. I have had a 93, 95, and now a 97 ZJ. All the 4.0 L6. The 4.0 is bulletproof and likewise about the auto tranny. My first two were the 242 and I now have a 249 tcase (which I HATE) so I highly recommend staying away from the 249. They have all been awesome vehicles, very comfy and a really nice DD and easily modded for light>heavy off road. I prefer 96-98 vs the first gen, and the Laredo package vs limited as the Limited can have electrical issues which the Laredo as the Loredo doesn't have so many fancy doo-dads. Cheers
  14. Well I'm actually going down from 31's so no power loss :D Speedo is also broken and I'm using my iPhone GPS and a speedo app so no worries there right now... haha, hadn't thought about that. Thanks 30.5" BFG MT's 245 Hankook A/T's Definately has no lift on the rear but 2" on the front so some lift shackles shall be in her future Thank you guys
  15. Logic tells me I can mismatch tire sizes front to rear as I have a RWD and many muscle cars have done it but can someone confirm that is true for the comanche for me? I have a ton of mostly worn tires but I can make a set of good tires for the Jeep with a pair of 245's up front and 30.5's rear. This shouldn't cause any harm should it? Also seems the PO put some 2" BB spacers up front but I don't believe any rear lift so the added rear height may actually level it (if it is actually off, I can't tell if the shackles are stock or not as of yet) Sorry for a kind of ignorant first post :P Thanks Dave
