  1. Cool, and is that also a tweeter under the armrest? Any idea on the size of the rear speakers?
  2. Ok, so when I was taking the heater housing out of the '91 XJ I wasn't very gentle with it and broke it in several places. I still have the one from the '87 MJ, but other than the housing nothing seems to match up. Could I just use the Mj housing and fill it with the appropriate pieces from the XJ? Also, Anyone have a breakdown of all the interior and exterior lines, resistors, and relays going to and attached to the HVAC system? The Haynes manual I have is pretty vague except for basic diagrams.
  3. Hey guys, The MJ is getting some new speakers as I button up the interior, however there wasn't any in it when I got it. Anyone know what size came factory? And if it's possible to get a replacement speaker housing (cup)? The door panels were cut by my idiot cousin when he had it for 6x9's, so thats what will go in there I think.
  4. The engine looks good. Thanks!!! Had the day off, so after I finished most of the honey-do list, I got started on some long overdue attention to the comanche bed. I also cleaned up the intake, just waiting on new injectors and the bored throttle body. Pressure washed and sanded the bed (one side anyway) And then some primer- I really hate the paint on this side of the bed. The other side and back sand as normal, The bedside was replaced at some point, and the paint that was used is extremely soft, some parts sanded smooth. and a few places look like this- Crap Maybe another coat or ten of primer will smooth things out.
  5. They have them at advanced auto, but i found them all on ebay cheaper, if you want i can pm you the links That would be great, thanks!!!!
  6. Thanks! It really wasn't so bad. I had a haynes manual and found a writeup on here that had everything I needed. Maybe it won't drive me nuts now. Hope it works!!!

  8. The control arm brackets have almost doubled in price...sheesh edit: found them on amazon for $150 cheaper
  9. Looking good! And what a steal on that XJ!!! Where did you find your trans lines?
  10. Went to pull a part this morning for a few odds and ends, came home and washed all the interior pieces, put together my gauge cluster, and put in the freshly painted steering column. Still working out the wiring as I go. Gonna leave the stuff for the power windows/door locks, etc. Just in case I decide to go that route.
  11. Started on the wiring today, and I am thoroughly convinced it is the devil. Threw the dash in while I was at it, and painted the gauge bezel to match the interior.
  12. Ah, yeah, they never made it on, decided to just go with 6" coils instead.

They had quite a few XJ's, but all I saw was 4.0/auto combos. I'm headed back on monday so I'll take a look then at all of them and let you know what I find.
  14. Haven't updated in awhile, finally finished the bodywork on the cab, now working on the doors and the bed. Almost ready for some paint. Gotta hurry up and get it finished before the wife and I have our first child in November!

1987 4.0, LWB, 4X4 Build date: ??? Current Location: Winston Salem, NC. Status: Junkyard Parts Donor Notes: Metallic gray in color, looks like it has been repainted at some point. Burgundy/Brown interior with bench seat. I'll be headed back to pull one of the tailights in a day or so, one has been replaced at some point and looks decent, but the other is trashed. Tailgate is also rough, but usuable for someone that doesnt have one. Also has the vent windows. Good LWB bedliner. Oh, and a cool Tony Montana air freshener handing from the mirror. Current owner: Pull-A-Part, Winston Salem, NC
  16. As shown, however, the harness is ready to go in, and everything is pretty much plug and play at this point. The smart thing to do would probably get it running first then try it.
  17. Sorry, In Yadkinville, North Carolina Also forgot to add that the trans is an AW4, and t-case is np231
  18. Hey guys, The MJ has sat in my garage for the last several month getting absolutely no attention. It's a 1987 model that was Renix, pukegoat, and 2wd. Plans were to convert it to 4x4 and H.O. I have all the parts, except the gas tank, brakes, steering box, bumpers, windsheild, front fenders, grille, etc. I also have the title in hand. What would be a fair asking price for this if I decided to sell it? It's rust free save for a little surface rust on the bed rails, and has a couple of dings in the bed. Also, has a complete factory black interior, and bucket seats. The engine is fairly new out of my old XJ with about 5000 miles on it, with new brown dog motor mounts, and new header. I have also added 4" front coils, heavy duty crossover steering. Not installed are the 6" lift shocks, 2" coil spacers, drop pitman arm, 8.8 swap kit. What would be a fair asking price for this if I decided to sell it?
  19. Just zip-tie it , wherever it still has room to compensate for axle movement but out of the way of moving parts.
  20. Haha, wonder if that was someone on here?
  21. Thanks! Trans is cleaner than the pics make it look, but I didn't polish it or anything, just got all the grease/dirt off of there. I like flat or satin colors in the engine bay, dings and nicks don't show as bad and it makes the rest stand out.
  22. Here we go-
  23. Finally, the engine is going in tommorow!
  24. Thank you sir, it's tedious, but it's worth it in the end! Well, got off night shift this morning and evidently had entirely too much coffee. The (M)an (J)eep is back on it's wheels!!!! Temporarily anyway, until I drop the engine in. Just wish I had another set of hands, busted my knuckles more than a few times this morning trying to get the front axle in there. I like the stance, no lift in the rear yet, but no weight either. 4.5" coils up front, couldn't get the spacers to slide over the bumpstop, need to grind it down some. Anyway, here's the pics!!!
