  1. Yeah, If I end up going spring over, I'll go that route.
  2. A little more progress, still in the tear down stage. The father in law came over the other day and here's where we ended up. Yesterday I decided to finish up the front end and the interior. Still have to remove the front axle, the rest of the wiring, and the steering column. And, Almost got the engine finished up as well, just waiting on my header and mounts.
  3. Looking for the lower shock stud mount. The one that bolts to the leaf spring. I may just end up doing a spring over, but was hoping to stay under 4" in the rear.
  4. Anyone know where I can find a replacement, besides the JY? Shock stud is bent on one of the mounts.
  5. I don't know that the trans will work without being able to talk to the engine computer.
  6. Spent some time this weekend cleaning and painting some of the engine parts. -Polished the distributor. -Stripped and painted the valve cover, and sanded down the fins on top and hit it with some hi temp clear coat. -Polished the oil filler cap. -Got the oil filter adapter degreased and painted. -Dipstick cleaned and painted. -New water pump and thermostat housing, hit those with some clear to keep away the oxidation for awhile. Tedious work, but it's starting to look pretty good I think.
  7. Pretty nice truck, there's actually a build thread on it on nc4x4.com
  8. Willing to travel a couple hundred miles if I need to! NC, SC, VA
  9. I've got one out of a renix XJ posted, here's the link: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=34321
  10. A few more pics, and some interior shots. And the engine from my donor getting cleaned up, the head is a hassle to mask off, so I just set the valve cover back on it. It's getting stripped and polished anyways.
  11. My 1987 Jeep comanche that I recently bought from my grandad, bad 4.0 engine, Peugeot trans, 2wd. Black interior w/ factory buckets. Best of all absolutely no rust through, been under a barn for the last 10 years. I already found that the windshield leaks while I was pressure washing it, headliner was damp. Under the vinyl floor was some surface rust but no holes! Swapping in EVERYTHING, from my running and driving 1991 XJ. :wrench:
  12. Hey Guys, I'm looking for a factory roll bar to fit a short bed. I'm also looking for a full console in black in good shape, from any year model XJ is fine, so long as it's black or close to it. And it's a long shot, but I'm looking for some mint black door panels.

    Restore or upgrade?

Finally got this thing to the house, bought it from my grandad, who had it in a barn for about 10 years. He bought it from my cousin who blew the engine years ago and never got around to fixing it. Factory buckets with the black interior, in perfect shape other than the drivers seat. Truck has 109,000K Miles!!!!
  14. Hey guys, looking for door panels as the ones that are in the truck have been cut for speakers. Also looking to replace the mini console with a full console. Looking for them to be black in color and in good shape.
  15. Mine has a couple of holes, and wear, but it's free if you want it.
  16. These won't work for a 'manche due to the offset rear.

    Restore or upgrade?

That's what I wanted to hear! Can't wait to get started on this thing!
  18. Hi guys, glad I found this forum, lot's of great info here!! Long story short, I have a 1987 MJ base, shortbed, 4.0, 2wd, manual, in great shape and minimal rust, with a bad engine. I also have a 1991 XJ Laredo 4.0 HO, 4x4 w/ a fresh engine. At the minimum, I want to put fresh paint, freshen the interior, and odds and ends on the MJ, keeping it mostly stock. With these in this shape harder and harder to find, how would putting in the HO engine, AW4, and 4x4 driveline from the XJ affect the value and "resellability" of this truck.
