  1. there's a short somewhere in your wiring for either the external turn signal light or the indicator light in the dash, so the indicator think's the light is on b/c power is being drained somewhere
  2. http://www.rockcrawler.com/techreports/stroker40/index.asp Simple and straightforward writeup. Basically what I'm going to do. KB pistons would be nice, and we'll see if money allows, but it doesn't look like it for now. and X2 on balancing and finding a shop near you who has experience with stroking a 4.0
  3. Hey guys, about to start the ba10 to AX15 swap, and I grabbed a NP231 tcase out of a 99 XJ, so it has the electronic VSS rather than the mechanical speedo cable in my 87...can I just swap the speedo gear and all the speedo stuff from my 87 tcase into my 99? or if I have to, I should be able to just swap the entire tail housing from the 87 onto the 99 (which I don't want to do, cause I want to have the option of doing the RE hack n tap sye in the future...) thanks! once my shoulder heals (dislocated snowboarding) I'll get pics and a build thread goin!
  4. do you know that the battery is good? a bad cell inside will kill a battery overnight, esp. if it's cold.
  5. is the TPS properly adjusted? IIRC they aren't just plug and play on the Renix system
  6. napa gold filters are rebranded WIX filters ;)
  7. Yep. Crank and rods. don't waste any time getting it. x2, i'd jump at that just for the stoker stuff for a 4.0. Now just find a well-kept high mileage 4.0 for cheap and rebuild it and strooooooke it!
  8. You need the gauge cluster off an 86-90 MJ or XJ. You'll also need a oil pressure sensor (not the dummy light one) and a coolant temp sensor. Your Tach will work just fine.
  9. How new is the slave cylinder? There really isn't a whole lot of fluid between the MC, the line, and the SC, and that SC is known to get leaky, and there are a lot of places for that fluid to go before it makes it's way out of the bellhousing. Get an AX-15 ;-)

  11. Very interested to see how you're going to fit the new projector and shroud into the old 7x6 enclosure... I'm interested in either going the cheapo ebay HID kit w/completely redone wiring harnesses, or depending on how yours turn out I may shell out some extra cash to do it al right.
  12. hey guys, just making sure I have everything lined up and ready to make the swap as quick as possible. Getting the AX15 mated to an NP231 out of a 95 XJ, so no issues on the input spline there. (also has the external slave, score!) As far as master cylinder, the one in my 87 MJ will be just fine (installed new one yesterday). The clutch line to the slave will be a custom steel braided -3AN line, so no issues there either. (side ?: what is the connection size going into the slave cylinder? is it 7/16"-24...) From what I've read from searches here and on jeepforum, I'm gonna need the pilot bushing out of a 74 CJ with the 304...not modifications are necessary for this part though...thought I read someone somewhere saying he had to machine the OD down, but the ID is perfect... as far as the flywheel, I think I need to keep that from my MJ, and I'm planning to keep the clutch plate in my MJ, and just use the fork from the XJ? still thinking that one over....might just go with a new clutch kit for it anyway...that way I know it's all fresh. (and i can get the sachs kit for $100 at work) a couple places said i need to grab the 4x4 shift linkage from the donor...why is this? unless the tcase is clocked differently from an 87MJ to a 95XJ (which i don't think it is), I should just be able to use my existing linkage. missing anything else? TIA guys....can't wait to get this thing rolling!!
  13. awww piss! 86-90 uses mechanical speedo, 91+ uses electronic.... durn....looks like i have another item to add to my JY list! also, according to this thread: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=33075&hilit=gauge+swap I'll need to swap in a temp and oil pressure sensor.
  14. Hey guys, just picked up the MJ in my sig last week, and it has the dummy gauges...lame. But I have the good gauge cluster from my 92 XJ in the garage still. I think my 87 uses a speedo cable directly into the gauges....any way to swap my 92 gauges in? TIA!
