Estetic 97+ conversion
Whisslaren replied to Whisslaren's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Okay, thanks guys. That saved me a lot of headache and time :-) -
Hi! Finally getting back to my poor comanche. Got it started again after sitting for five years, so now I can drive it into the workshop under it´s own power. Feels good. Now to the question. I can´t quiet remember my exact plans for it, but I do know what parts I had gathered. I´ve been swimming through the tech writeups but it´s currently just making my head spin... I am changing to a 97+ front and fenders, but I also have the interior from a 97+. Can I upgrade the interior and make it work with my 88' wiring harness and driveline? Unless changing the dash, is there actually any huge advantage of changing the inside climate package? As you can probably tell from the above, I´m only interested in the estetics of the 97+. Driveline works fine so any major changes feels like it´s not motivated right now. Time is nothing I have a lot of. Also, will doors from a 97+ cherokee fit the comanche? Thanks /LW

Hi everyone! Sitting here thinking about engines. What I have is one complete engine/auto/transfercase from a -87 comanche and one complete engine/manual/transfercase from a -91 wrangler What I need is a complete set engine/auto/transfercase. Would be easiest to just take the comanche pack, but rumour has it the electronics on the wrangler pack is better. Is it? The head on the wrangler motor is not useable beacuse of a exhaust bolt cracking off a corner of the head. Otherwise it works fine. The comanchepack works. It´s just tired and could use som tlc Any recommendations? What is the recommended rebuild amount on the AW4? It has som 200k km on it Cheers Daniel

Lift In Front For Clearing 37" Tires
Whisslaren replied to Whisslaren's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks for the tips. I'll go for around 7" inches then and if needed som massage of the wheel well. I have some really special fenders in store for it as well. Did any know how I could measure how far from stock it is right now? Cheers Daniel Whistleton -
Hi people! I'm getting closer to when it is time for axle change. Anyone know roughly how much lift I will need in front to clear 37" tires and still have decent flex? The rear is not an issue since it will have custom bed and frame Also if anyone could tell me how to measure how much lifted it is right now, it would be great Thanks Lord Whistleton

Easy answer, the last 8 digits of the vin are stamped on the engine
-
Just tried calling my local chrysler dealer and also compnine.com. Neither could help me. The dealer couldn´t access engine block id and compnine just said no info available. Any other ideas would be appreciated If needed, VIN is: 1C8FYN8933T555125

Hi folks I am wondering if there is any way possible to see if a car and an engine belongs together. For example if I buy a car without an engine together with an engine on the side. In my case it´s a question about milage. I have an engine, and I know the vin number of the car I suspect it´s from Cheers!

Wanted: Pics Of Mjs Without Stock Bed
Whisslaren replied to johnny quest's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That first one is awsome. I´ve been trying to find inspiration for my build, but have only found bits and pieces. I searched for more info on the first one and found this: http://www.4wheeloff...ks/viewall.html Turns out it´s the exact setup I´m doing. :) I must get hold of UA -08. Anyone know where I can get it? I´ve tried searching like hell but I can´t find it anywhere -
Nevermind. Found it myself. For anyone else that require these specs, here´s yukons guide for a range of axles: http://www.scribd.com/doc/9375619/Yukon-Dana-Ring-Pinion-Installation-Guide
-
No, I´ve done this before, but I don´t remember torque values, backlash and so on for that axle
-
Hi! I´m wondering if anyone has instructions for installing ring and pinion in a dana 35c? The jeep in question is a TJ -97. I know it´s not a MJ but I figured some of you might have TJ´s anyway so Cheers! /Daniel

Don´t know if this is a repost, but I can´t remember seeing it before: http://www.autoblog.com/2012/08/13/decision-on-a-jeep-pickup-coming-soon-truck-could-come-on-wrang/

Axle swap identify help
Whisslaren replied to Whisslaren's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I got a tip for another alternative as well. Toyota landcruiser vx 80 axles. Are these anything worth while? They are really cheap and includes rear discbrakes as well. -

Would a 14bsf still be an alternative if the axle my buddy has turns out not to be a 14bff? -

Could a front ram dana 60 work as well? Seems to be easier to find than any ford fronts -
Axle swap identify help

Plans are 37" and a magnum 5.2. Been thinking before about swapping in front and rear from a Jeep J20, but I have a bad feeling that that front d44 is passenger side as well, isn´t it? Now, I´m kinda liking the benefits of a 14 bolt and how easy it seems to be to work with... -

Well that sucks :wall: What would be a descent axle to put in the front then? I assume the rear from the silverado would be something useful, so something matching that one would be preferable -
Hi! I was just talking to a friend and he said he had som axles laying around that I could get cheap. I´ve been trying to find out what axles they would be, but it´s a jungle out there and I can´t seem to find a good answer... They come from a Blazer -88 and and a -87 silverado. No IFS he said. He will get me photos, but of course I´m anxious about it and would like to know what possibilities I have :D Anyone know what axles might have come with these vehicles? Cheers! Daniel

Alexia's 1987 To 1997 Comanche
Whisslaren replied to Alexia's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Nice work. Really like the spraypaint template idea. Never thought about that before. I´ll definately try it out -
Nice to see an mj not to "far" from me on here. Looks nice! Good luck with it. Cheers Lord Whistleton Sweden

comanche club Forum Software. We need some input.
Whisslaren replied to Automan2164's topic in The Pub
Just a tip. I do not know if your version of the phpbb supports it, but on local swedish forum i added a normal question, to which you had to type in the answer. This should remove any spambots. As per the human ones, we don't have that problem since the question I added was in swedish. Seems most human spammers arent swedish :) That won't help you though, since english is a tad more common Cheers Lord Whistleton -
I would be interested in a short sleeve and a hoodie, depending on price and shipping to sweden. Any color

Project - "Rusty Skellington"
Whisslaren replied to Whisslaren's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
It really isn´t a problem since I'm doing the 5.2 swap, but it bugs me to hell. Why can´t people just do it right or leave it alone... Sounds about right. Yeah it´s really nice and quiet out here. Half a mile to the nearest neighbour, but only 5 miles to the center of a medium size swedish city. After checking around alot I´ve decided that I will ssettle for j20 axles instead of mogs. More parts availability and better gearing alternatives. With mogs the engine would be doing 4500rpm at highway speeds, and I won't have a tow rig within the nearest five years...
