  1. yeah I have the Comanche 1988 brochure that goes over all the packages of the comanche, and then I also have the whole 1989 line up. Original from the dealer
  2. If you happen to have some handy sure :D I really need adjustable shackles since I'll be using them at stock height/lift height and then if I plan on switching to an 8.8 like I hope I'll need to change the height there again.
  3. http://www.ironman4x4fab.com/Products/RLS.html Anyone here used these on their rigs? If so how do you like them, they look pretty beefy so they should be pretty strong. Looking at getting these to replace my stock shackles since they are rusted through and then later on I can use them with my lift. If you haven't used them what did you use instead? (I don't really want to use XJ shackles, since they are .5-1" shorter than the MJ shackles) thanks,
  4. It's going to be a daily driver with some pretty moderate stuff opn the weekends, no rock crawling really. Thanks for the recommendations I'll look into it. I know The extra inch probably wouldn't make a difference and will be overkill, but I plan on lifting this truck once and never having to swap in a new kit. I might upgrade some of the parts later on but I don't plan on redoing the whole suspension system which is why I can to go for 5.5" instead of 4.5" to give it a little meaner of a look. I mainly said that because When the truck is fully flexed I want to be able to stuff the tire all the way up in the wheel well. Also two other things Motion Offroad what do you recommend as far as shocks go I've only read good things about the nitro 9000 series, I know many people like the bilsteins on their truck but at $80 a pop it'll be $320+ shipping for them which Unless they can make me breakfast while riding comfortably is pretty out of my price range. And the other thing I wish there was an easier way to get a shipping quote on your site.
  5. Thanks, yeah it seems you either pay $500 for a crap kit or close to $1500 for a good one, I'm going with 5.5" as I want to fit some 33x10.5x15s without trimming or if I have to very little, I also don't plan to upgrade the suspension for many years. As far as the ubolts go I might end up doing that. As far as shocks how do you like your JKS? I've heard good things about the nitro 9000 series but I've also heard great things about the JKS dicos. I put the nitro 9000s in there as I'm most familiar with them and they are a pretty decent price. The one thing I forgot were longer brake lines.
  6. Yeah I looked around a bit more and all I saw were people complaining that the kit was $#!&. So I put together this viewtopic.php?p=336810#p336810 Check it out. See the above in this post and also check out the kit I added up viewtopic.php?p=336810#p336810

  8. yes. Rustys 4.5" leaf packs SUCK!!!!!!!!!!! look up hellcreek. Really? I've never had a problem with anything from rustys, also I've looked at hellcreek they are rather expensive $188 a piece plus shipping. I could get a shop to make me a better custom pack for the same or even a bit cheaper local. I'll see If I can piece together a better kit but I'd like to stay under $1000
  9. Thinking about using Rustys 4.5" leaf pack with custom shackles and a 1" puck in the front. Rustys 4.5" leaf pack kit http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchant.m ... K-405SP-MJ Adjustable shackles http://www.ironman4x4fab.com/Products/RLS.html 1" pucks Unsure of what brand to get something that will last and is halfway decent price wise. See this now viewtopic.php?p=336810#p336810 The rustys kit is designed for stock shackles so I plan on putting the adjustable shackles at about an inch over stock/enough to match the front, I'll ask rusty there if he can throw in/upgrade me to some longer shocks depending on the length of the ones provided. I want to stay SUA so no SOA setups, I also am probably going to need leaf springs as mine are pretty flat and shackles as mine a few of them are rusted through. Any ideas or foreseen problems with this proposed setup?
  10. CC - I will have plenty of pictures to post in a week or so. Can't wait to see the pics, may have found a new bumper thanks to you :jump:
  11. Finally put on the thermostat/thermostat housing and petcock. Also took the battery box out broke two bolts so we ground them off and drilled them out. I also quick fixed the coolant system. Using another T-pipe instead of the heater valve, water is always running through the core. Later I'll probably set it up a little nice before we put coolant in, going to put straight water in and check for leaks this weekend.
  12. Got in the gas tank I ordered today. Also took out the fuel pump from the old one. Surprised the sock was still on there. Over the weekend I'm going to be hooking up the fuel tank along with putting in a new coolant temperature sensor. (bottom of the block) Along with installing the new thermostat housing with the petcock along with a new thermostat and gasket. Most immediate things on the list are fixing the brake lines and welding in the floor panels after we fab them up.
  13. It was meant more to show how the 3 soft lines ran as that's what he will need to replace but yes you are correct also I didn't make the diagram someone posted it in the mj info pic thread.
  14. a little late but a simple diagram. also as BlueComanche88 said those are the parking break cables
  15. Yup the guy I bought it from said his friend painted it that color when he was letting him borrow it, but the engine tranny, t-case and axles are in prime shape so it'll make a good donor.
  16. Finished painted the frame in the back And here's the donor cherokee Someone serious screwed up the paint job :thwak:
  17. I was thinking about it on mine but thought it made the truck too buggy-ish as I was thinking about having the bottom be black diamond mesh like this But I've decided to stick with the bed for now.
  18. Hey ComancheClub I have a 1989 shortbed Comanche with a straight 6 2wd with the dana 35 in the rear. Fullsize pic http://i.imgur.com/JnAPf.jpg This will probably be a decently long ongoing project, I'm trying to speed up the pace but we'll see what ends up happening. What I've Done: Taken bed off treated frame with rust neutralizer/convertor Painted the frame black Cleaned up inside of cab Bought a 90 XJ Laredo 4x4 donor bought the steel to make the patches in the floor bought 92 thermostat housing and thermostat + gasket New gas tank What I plan To Do: Swap whole drivetrain excluding rear axle (front 30, tranny, t-case) into the Comanche (Convert to 4x4) Remake brake lines / fix brakes weld in / fab up new floorpans decide and purchase either rough country 4.5" AAL or custom SOA swap in the new thermostat housing with the peacock swap in bucket seats from donor XJ purchase some 33x10.5?12.5x15 tires Audio system/speakers +head unit Run the battery/ground/starter/alternator up with some 0 Gauge custom rungs Custom bumpers Patch/ trim bed and front fenders if necessary + More to be added and finally wheel the dang thing ! I'll add some more picks of the frame after paint later to morrow and some pics of the XJ donor. Should be fun :D Full album (more pictures not posted) http://imgur.com/a/EklHm
  19. So does anyone know if this is in fact the correct gas tank for an 89 I6 ? http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sku/S ... IJP5A.html
  20. any recommendations of sites to get these from? I'll be looking around though.
  21. Can anyone recommend some decent priced kits that are pretty much complete? Most the kits I've seen are like 500ish for some basic parts but then it's missing like control arms brake line extensions t-case drop kit sway bar etc. I'd like to go 4.5" or bigger but stay around the 500-600 price range as I still have to convert to 4 wheel drive which is another 300-400$
  22. Normally, you're correct.. but Rusty's offers a full 4.5" lift kit, that includes SOA perches.... http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchant.m ... sus_xj_kit yeah that's the one I linked to I believe it ends up being closer to a 5" after it's all said and done but it seems to be the closest to a complete kit for comanches out there, plus I can get a discount from rusty more than likely.
  23. I know there is probably hundreds of these threads but here's my plans for my 89 shortbed. Currently it's 2wd I plan on converting it to 4wd, pulling a dana 30 along with a tcase and tranny from a donor XJ. It currently has the 35 in there with 3.55 gears, I plan on just keeping the 35 in there with the 3.55 gears and fabbing up a brace to go over the housing and strengthen the axle and running the gears till they burn up. Planning on 4.5" of lift with some 33" tires, I was looking around and it seems that rustys 4.5" SOA kit is the most complete for the most reasonable price. I'm having to weld in some new sheet metal on the floor, and I just got done coating the back frame with rust neutralizer and I'll be painting it with some rustoleum in the next day or so when I get home. The edge of the wheel wells are rusted as well so I'll be patching those up / trimming them up. Also I found out a day or two ago that the gas tank has about 12 pin size holes and is a little ruff on the outside so I'm looking into just buying a new tank for that, someone posted this tank - http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sku/S ... IJP5A.html I was just wondering if this was the correct tank and would fit my existing fuel pump as it works fine. Here's a pic of the Comanche. http://i.imgur.com/JnAPf.jpg (the pic is rather large to embed) Thanks for the help!
