I'll replace the fuel filter and see what hapens. Does anyone think that it can be a sensor? Bought the truck as a project and to learn to do the work myself.
Just picked up a 1987 MJ 4.0 with 85k miles. It made the 200 mile trip back but once I got on the gas it started sputtering like it needed fuel. So I didnt get on the gas much. It idled fine with no problems. I checked for the fuel ballast resistor but I don't think the 87 MJ has one since I bought the jeep from the original owner. Any suggestions?
Going to look at a 1988 MJ 4 x 4 5spd 4.0 tomorrow for $2000. The body looks pretty straight on it. Owner stated that it has a couple electrical issues. The engine does not turn off and the turn signals don't work. How hard is it to diagnosed these things. Would it be better just swap out the entire wire harness than try to trouble shoot the problem. Or should I past on this one. Thanks
Thanks for all the replies the seller went down $2500 don't know if i'll take him on his offer. Sill a little steep for me being totally stock. From the pictures he sent me the truck looks real good. But I don't think ill find something this nice any cheaper.
This is from the ad

Thanks again
I'm looking at a couple of MJ's for sale. There both 2wd and in decent shape but there both going for around $3000. I want something that I can drive and don't need alot of work. What are people willing to pay? Is 3000 too much. Any help will be apreciated..
I been interested in getting a MJ for awhile preferably in 4wd. Which year, engine and transmission should I be looking for? Want to start out on a solid platform?
I need some advice on what I should be looking for. I really would like a 4.0L with 4wd with short bed. All I have been able to come across is 2wd. How difficult would it be convert to 4wd. I would like to learn how to fix things myself. Is this something anyone can tackle or should I just pass and find something with 4wd. Should I stay away from the 2.5L. The MJ would just be added to the XJ and CJ that I already have. Both are pretty built up. I pretty much just dropped them with the mechanic and got the bill. :shake: I would like to do it myself this time around and learn as I go. The 2wd's are about half what people are asking for 4wd. Will the money I save getting the 2wd even about to what the 4wd's are going for? Thanks for the help.
