I'm looking for an affordable solution for a 3 inch for rear of my MJ. I am piecing together my 3 inch lift kit from various sources. What are the options to lift the rear that is not too steep? Thanks

About to order a new driveshaft for my 87 MJ. I did the 4wd conversion with the AX-15 and transfer case from a 1998 XJ. My MJ is only lifted 3.5 inches. Will there be any vibrations with this lift and transfer case setup? What is recommended for this setup? Thanks

Lift Install Question
JeepFanactic replied to JeepFanactic's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yes I do. I adjusted them to the measurements I found on here. How do you make sure that the lengths are right? Is there a way to check the measurements? -
In the middle of installing the front lift for my 87 MJ. I installed the 3.5 in coil springs and the adjustable control arms. I have not installed the track bar yet but it looks like the coil is hitting the bump stop on top. How can you ensure the control arms are the right length. Will everything straughten out when I get the track bar in? Just looks like the coil springs are not sitting straight. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

That's good to know. Thank you

What length are most of you running for the UCA and LCA for a 3 inch lift? Thanks

Thanks for all the input. I went with the Core4x4 adjustable arms. The price was the deciding factor. Ill let you know how they look when they come in. Also thanks for the measurements that will be my baseline when I install them.

External Slave AX15 swap, lets see how it goes

Can't wait to see the rest of the write up  -
Stronger than the Links? They're stronger than the stock channel arms. Not stronger than probably any of the aftermarket ones. Are there any other decent aftermarket arms?

Since he's just going 3", can't he use the J-Link control arms? Yes he should be able to use them without any issues, there's tons of great options out there, I would have personally gone the WJ arm route though. What are the other options that are compare to the JKS control arms? Thanks

Will WJ arms work with a 3 inch lift? Thanks

Basically the truck is going to see light off road use. Also this is my first time doing all the work on my MJ so this a huge learning experience. So I would like to keep it simple if possible. Thank again

I am gathering parts for a 3 in lift for my 87 MJ. Where can I find the right size shock for a particular lift? What do you suggest? Thanks

Need input on 1988 Mj 2wd with the 4.0 and manual transmission. The body is pretty straight from what I can tell. But the interior on the drivers side is pretty rotted out. The owner told me to take it off his hands for $700. I am in the middle of a 4wd conversion on my current MJ so I am aware of what is needed to get it converted but I have never welded before. This MJ would be a way to learn to weld on and a just something else to learn on. Need suggestion on if I should pass or not. Its fairly close to home so that is not a problem. Thanks

Boostwerks Transfer Case Linkage Problems
JeepFanactic replied to JeepFanactic's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Finally, got everything working. Thanks Rockfrog. Let me explain the steps I took to get everything installed and aligned. I emailed Boostwerks and explained that I was having difficulty installing the linkage. Boostwerks replied and requested that I email pictures explaining my concerns. Came to find out that the Shift Tab on the transfer case needs to pointing towards the rear and the Shift tab extension needs to be at its lowest to line up the angles and have a straight line with adjustable linkage. Then I followed Rockfrog's advice about putting it in 4 lo and the shifter in 4 lo and everything is working perfect. The instructions that Boostwerks sends you are for automatic not the manual transmission. Thanks again.... -

Best donor Cherokee for comanche.
JeepFanactic replied to harding9641's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
X3 It all depends on what you want to accomplish. IMHO, the best donor for an '88 Comanche would be an '88 Cherokee, with the same engine and transmission, because that will provide the maximum number of replacement parts. However, if your goal is to update a Renix-era Comanche to completely new running gear and electrics, then the '98-'99 XJ is probably the best choice. This is so true. I am in the middle of doing my conversion and it will be a lot easier if everything came from the same year. Just my two cents -

Yea this is so true. Tried several combinations and still nothing. Might have to go with the Novak system but it is so expensive. -

Ok the best I could get from the Boost werks linkage is 4 HI and now the shift handle sits back a little bit. Does anyone have the same results with the manual transmission? -
