XJ dash harness to rear MJ harness wiring guides.
bajajunkie replied to mfpdm's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
ok i apologize if i have totally looked this over and it was alrady mentioned before but, can you do an HO to Renix swap in the same maner that you have pointed out here or is that just too much to handle? (I am asking cause it was my impression that you either talked about renix to renix era and HO to HO era rather than HO to Renix... Its ok you can call me dumb haha :dunno: ) -
Looking for a park brake assembly let me know your price + shipping to 98225 if you have one thanks

SHE IS BACK TO LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!! I got the truck down to my parents house yesterday evening and tried starting her. It turned over like a champ but wouldnt start! :headpop: so this mornin i got up and made it a goal to get her going... i did anything and everything to get her to start cleaned contacts checked plugs tested coil and all fuses but nothing! then i decided to use the search function that everyone forgets about and found a lot of "won't start" threads with a lot of direction torwards the cps... then i checked... and guess what i found! burnt wires leading to a little bit of joy tucked in the top of the bell housing... the wires were burnt and broken off the sensor! Changed it and it started right up! she runs beautifully (besides a small whine from the ac pump). now i just have to fix all the little electrical problems like the dash lights and the fact that I'm using a toggel switch for my windsheild wipers. i also picked up some buckets out of a two door xj and the center console. surprisingly enough its the exact same color scheme as the truck which is sweet. here she sits after a fresh bath!

What other axles did they offer in the rear for the 2wd comanches? was there any others than d44?
-
Did all the 95-01 8.8 come with 4.1 gears... and the early 90 had drum brakes
-
wow that is some good info definately going in the favorite book marks

i think i remember reading somewhere that the renix does not have an on-board diagnostic control system or no storage memory to store fault codes... is this why it won't tell you what is previously stated? if so besides noticing poor engine performance how would you test each sensor to tell if its at fault? would you use a multimeter to test resistance or voltage of each sensor?
-
yes while considering the whole go green movement maybe the HO would be a good choice but the idea came to mind because i have only gone wheeling with guys that had HO not the renix. from what i have gained from this the renix will provide more torque at lower rpm and is fully capable of keeping up with any HO with proper gearing and some sense behind the wheel. haha

My 9 Year Build So Far.......
bajajunkie replied to jpnjim's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Wow what an MJ this is really an inspirational build thread  It also jammed packed with a ton of great ideas and learning knowledge (for newbs like me haha) I hope my manche can be this cool some day! Hope you get a chance to throw some updates up! -
That is a very good point! Haha well thanks alot you guys pretty much nailed my question right on he head. Ill be expecting my 4.0 to last another few years then.
-
The main idea behind this was to see if you could take an 88 4.0 and easily convert it to an HO. After readig this is it possible to just grab the head, throttle body, injectors, exhaust manifold and ecu unit out of an 4.0 HO if its essentially the same lower half? Probably have to include the harness huh? I'm sure someone has already thought about this....
-
So I was looking around to try and understand why the 4.0 got its power gain in the early 90's (190hp vs 177hp)..... I remember reading that something with the wiring harness changed because chrysler started making them thereselves? Any clarity on this subject? Also what other design changes did they make? to the head? Bigger valves? Different timing or possibly more efficient fuel injectors?

Opinions & advise on a lift kit idea
bajajunkie replied to Jay's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
if you put the say bar in that would just limit your travel wouldnt it? I thought it was common just to take that off if your using it for a wheeler...... -
Steering Column Compatibility
bajajunkie replied to bajajunkie's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
No its not a column shift auto thankfully! Haha well I will keep my eyes open in the junkyard to find one! -
Hey quick question. My jeep has a busted up steering column and essential no blinker signals or washer controls so i got to swap in a new one. here's the questions up to what year (mine is an 88 2wd) are the steering columns bolt in? is there a posibility of getting one with tilt?

Any suggestions on lift kits?
bajajunkie replied to coon.hunter_21's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The extra inch question was asked because if i do the drop shackles mod my truck will sit lower because it is originally a 2wd and not a 4wd. so ultimately it will sit lower beacuse the leafs in the rear sit lower on the 2wd model... so I'm told -

bajajunkie replied to coon.hunter_21's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
So 31 will fit thats good news. I was hoping to stuff 33 because I'm told with 33 and front & rear lockers i can pretty much get anywhere i want. (I'm still kinda new to this whole lift/ bigger tires game haha) Just curious if these mods are installed how would i gain that extra inch back? -
Any suggestions on lift kits?
bajajunkie replied to coon.hunter_21's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've got a 2wd that will eventually be 4wd.... can I still just use chevy drop brackets in the rear for a decent 2"? I figuered I would have to do something like add a leaf cause the 2wd leaves sit way lower than the 4wd? Sry to ask another question within a thread but can u convert from spring under to over in the rear by re welding the perches for a little bit of lift? What's the difference in performance from spring under to spring over? -
haha thanks alot for the welcomes guys! I am really looking forwar to this > i will def update as soon as i get the truck to my place and start wrenching on it!

Hello guys I'm new to this forum but i wanted to go ahead and start a build thread of my Manche! tid-bit-o-history: I inherited the truck that belonged to my grandpa Wayne Tysver who has recently passed. I had no clue what it was but i knew it was a jeep so i had to get it. Expecting a J10 I found this little gem! Its an 88 shortbox with a 5sp! No 4wd tho! :fs2: well any way the body is in decent shap no major dings or cancer.... that i noticed except for the roof ( you can see it in the prev pic) and the front fender. i don't know who did it, my grandpa was an interesting fellow when it came to fixing things, but there is like a crap ton of bondo to patch a hole in the roof. it started to peel up and the inside of the truck is just soaking wet and is a mold city galore!!!!!. so the first thing to do is get it home get it running and tear the interior out and replace the seat carpet and steering column to make it atleast driveable. Here are some more photos (yes that is my yota in the background.... sry jeep guys i don't want to discriminate in any way! haha) I plan on doing a 2wd to 4wd conversion with a donor tcase and axle out of a cherokee as soon as the budget allows it. in the end i want to build a decent wheeler running atleast 33"... but who knows ill probably be going bigger in the future. If you guys feel like joining me in my adventure in building this baby feel free to check it out every once and a while. but you know how it goes... projects can only be fininshed with time and money... neither of which i have in surplus!
