    trim piece

I have done the black rattle can paint for plastic before on grey inter, for the most part it works good on the pieces that to not get touch, the door sills can take alot of abuse and the paint does not last long since it is only a top coat and not deep imbed. I'm very picky on building some of my projects, My job alot of times has drawings of +/- of 3/32 or less, after you do that for so long you get into a mind set of either it is right or cut it apart and start over. I will find the piece I need just not sure how long it will take or where it will turn up at. Hopefully it won't cost as much as the truck. All of the junk yards I called said $5.00 or you can have it if I remove it myself.
  4. btm24, where did you see them used at? The best deal I got was years ago on my TJ, when I bought a BEST TOP sail cloth top, the arb snorkel was $185. They did alright I guess since the top was $700. I bought it but thought it was over priced then. I work in a fab shop and still have not made one I liked [ out of metal]. I'm not into the sewer pvp pipe thing. If come across another use one call me or send me an e-mail.

    trim piece

I'm looking for the cream / beige color, the junk yard next to my house has 1/2 dozen cherokes and two comanche with the piece I need, it's just the wrong color. and I'm trying to stay away from painting a grey trim piece. I have called 12 different yards, 10 had red the other two had grey. I have a grey one now from another truck. The other great color that jeep fell in love with is RED inter.. Thank you for trying to help on the cherokee trim piece. I have robbed a few inter and body parts off them before.

    Florida?

I will be there, except I won't be in my truck but a 97 tj
  9. The nv4500 is 5-speed that was used in chevy and some dodges truck, they are a very tough tranny for the most part except for fifth gear as some issues, the one I bought as a new fifth gear cut, that solves that problem. Price wise you can get one already done for $950. with a core, with out a core it's another $600. Another tranny that I like to use is a chevy SM420 four speed, does have a very low first gear.
  10. If you want to do an engine swap, it's not as bad as some say it is; I have been doing them for years [chevy in jeeps, chevy in fords], a 350 will fit but it is tight, best to use a 4.3, do want injection or carb? When I do a swap I keep it all one kind--- chevy motor, chevy tranny, chevy transfer case, the reason why is the adapters are around $500 if you want to try and stick a chevy to a jeep tranny. My friend an myself should have everything you need to do a swap, he builds monster mud trucks and has a four wheel drive shop. I'm doing about the same thing in a 89 comanche, 4.3-- reason you can buy one in Ocala fl. from Titan engines all ready rebuild build for around $1300. also the the bore and stroke is the same as a 350, the only thing different is the rod size, you can order a intake from edelbrock and carb. and it will run and headers from pace or hedman. This is pretty much plug and go. You will need to do some welding for engine mounts and tranny mounts. If you want a very easy drop in, get an older jeep j-10 or cj with a 258, tranny and case, [get the whole thing if you can], this is a drop in for your comanche, this is a no frills set up, carb, points which can be changed over to a chevy hei dist. You do not have to worry about o2, crank senors, map, tps, etc..., just a couple of wires for the starter, one for the dist. hook up the alt. and go for the most part. Shot me an e-mail if you need any parts. HooksNfeathers@aol.com , I'm in the homosassa area.

    Florida?

Citrus county-- Homosassa area, the only thing close by is the Horse Hole, it's pretty good size. They do have a very small rock crawing spot [lime rock].
  12. I have all of the arb air lockers [ still need to get a air pump for it], 4'' lift, tranny and case, just need the time to install all of this [ hunting season then redfish, trout and tarpon fishing, hauling kids around] some where in between all of that work, the sanding and painting takes the longest for me. Undecided on how to build the front & rear bumber. I'm just waiting on the machine shop to get done with the engine, I can have this done in less then a day to drop in and drive for the '86 again the sanding and painting seems likes it takes forever the interior will be done this weekend. Wish they would of made these in an extended cab or [prefer]crew cab, this would save me from owning another truck, it's hard to haul around the family or my hunting buddies in a straight cab.
  13. Just wanted to say Hi to every one, I'm new to the site but not to jeeps. Been hooked on jeeps for 20 years plus. I have been selling alot of the ones I do not have time to build or drive. I have three now; '97 TJ, 86 MJ, 89 MJ, just sold 86mj and 89mj [had six of this all together] these was the last ones I'm selling for now, The 86 will have a new 2.5 install next week, still have some inside to fix up, repaint door panels, redo the headliner and redo the bench seat, then paint the body. The 89 will receive a major over haul, 4'' lift, arb airlockers front and rear, nv4500 tranny with a atlas transfer case, have two choices on motor either a 4.3 chevy or 4.9 stroker for it. I will send in some before and after pictures.
