I think I figured it out. There is a tiny bit of gas in the oil. What would cause gas to get in the oil? I just replaced the injectors so I wouldn’t think it’s that.

I meant more on the rod bearings, but I guess while I’m down there I might as well do all of them. I hate this oil pressure issue. I never had it and then it just showed up. It makes me upset because it runs just so good, other than a backfire that is (most likely) from a quacking and probably dirty EGR.

Also, as I was reviewing this footage to check for knocks, I hear this noise apon shutdown. It is the starter staying engaged? It had the tendency to run with the key off right when I got it, but it’s gone away with time (and I’m guessing, usage) FullSizeRender.mov

A bit of an update on this, oil pressure acts normal and is good (40-60 psi when driving, 40 at 2,000 rpm) but once it hits 160°, or the midway line on the gauge, the oil pressure drops. I have seen, however, that it does react to throttle, so it isn’t the oil pump, but I didn’t get it all the way up to 210° (what I’d call “normal” operating temperature, so I’m not sure how it reacts there.) If it’s the bottom end bearings, how hard is it to replace while it’s still in the truck? I don’t want to have to pull the motor if possible, but I’ll have it apart when I do my AX-15 swap.

I run a set of Thunderer Ranger tires in 235/75/R15s. The original size was 215/75/R15s, but these were a good deal, so, sue me. Also, I added info to my signature, I guess I put it in the wrong place.

But it’s only a 2wd. It shouldn’t have a transfer case, unless it was used as a pto of sorts.
-
Electric shift-on-the-fly transfer case? Was that even an option?

1989 Jeep Comanche 4.0/AW4/NA/NA/D35 Not sure on build date Joplin, Missouri For sale (I’m not selling, just saw on marketplace) Auto, 2wd 4.0. Not exactly special, but I’d make a good 4x4 swap, especially with the clean body. Route 66 Auto Center (Dealership)

This looks exactly like my 89, except the Turbine wheels, which I would love to have on mine.
-
Would 3.55s or 4.10s help performance? Mines a bit dodgey (except first, which spins a tire on all surfaces) and tops at about 80mph.

A little update. I went to look at the 86 (it is on the registry now) and it is rough with a capitol R. That r also could mean rust, which was rampant on this one. The only thing holding the carpets up on the passenger floor was the frame rail... Ouch. I did, however, find a nice set of Steeleys and caps, so I guess the look wasn’t a huge waste of time. Also, no rear chrome rear bumper. that being said, for the price I could probably part it out and make some money. The interior lights also looked intact. :) I also though it was cool to see a column shift trans with a floor shift transfer. Not often you see that. So, the crawler is probably not going to be that one.... I took the Pioneer out for a drive today and I passed the previous owners store that they were standing outside of. I think they enjoyed seeing it again. I was in a hurry so I couldn’t stop sadly, but I have a feeling I can probably get them to see it again eventually. So that’s my little update for today. Hopefully now that I sold my old truck, I can get moving on this project. Yay! Also, I did update my username and picture. I am now Dickinson County Kansas’ (un)official Comanche expert. Hah. While I was in town, I also saw this really cool XJ Wagoneer outside of the Walmart. It is not a HO, nice to see another renix still ticking around.

Darn. I need a 3.08 drive. I guess the hunt continues...

Do you know what the axle ratios/types are? If it has a D44 I’d love to swap it.

1986 Jeep Comanche 2.8 (Yuk) 904, command trac. I’m not sure in the axles not sure on build Date, sticker was faded. north central Kansas Currently sitting, I hope to part it out or make a crawler out of it, once I buy it. Has a Leer Comanche-specific top, and aftermarket wheels similar to the Eliminator. also, the trans went out. Seems odd that the 2.8 outlasted the Torqueflite...

I think the new Bronco is neat, hopefully Chrysler will take some notes for a more off-road oriented Cherokee. I think they missed with having a independent front suspension on the non-sport models.

So, a little update, my father has showed interest in making one of the parts trucks into a wheeler (I absolutely agree with him) but we’re not sure what truck to use. I wanted to use the 86 for the transmission, but it’s a longbed, and I’m not sure how well they are off-road. I hope to be able to look at the 86 tomorrow, which will probably also result in me figuring if I’ll get it or not, but for $350 or so, I might just do it for some of the Comanche-specific parts, like interior lights! hope to have Some updates soon. I finally have some time that might go towards working on the MJ. Time will tell.

That’s unfortunate. We can’t save them all, sadly. -

I’ll have to go on the map and see if they’re on there and shoot them a message. -

It really is. Mine has rat damage, so I’ll either scan it and digitally correct it, or I’ll have someone see if they can’t correct the damage. I’ll probably go for the former over the latter, and have the original for originality’s sake. I’m more surprised that the temporary tag registration or the tire warranty papers weren’t tossed. -

Here’s some that I took a while ago. I just left on a vacation so I won’t be able to get some better one’s until Tuesday. -

Huh. Never knew you could have it shipped over. I’m pretty sure he didn’t, as he picked it up at the dealer, I’m guessing after he returned. That paper is set up the exact same way as the ones I have, it just has AMC on the top, not the Jeep/Eagle logo. -

He said he ordered it though the mail. That's actually kind of cool, my grandfather was stationed there back in Vietnam (1967?-1968) under his national guard unit being activated. I think I have the paper where he wrote everything down that he wanted (If so, there was a cheat-sheet to go off of) in the little folder where I have a lot of the (presumably dealer) paperwork, such as the application for a temporary tag for the state of Arizona, I don't believe it was ever filled out...
