So I'm putting my flywheel back in and looked up the torque spec and it says 50 ft lbs then another 60 degrees. Maybe it's just me, but that seems pretty ghetto for a torque spec. Is there an actual torque? Because 60° on top of the 50 ft lbs seems almost impossible without snapping the head off.

My 87 MJ 2.5 4spd 2wd will run fine when i start it cold, i can drive it all day with no problems. I shut it off for about a minute and crank it over and it smokes like seafoam and runs like crap. just smells like exhaust, not coolant or oil. Its not eating coolant or oil either. If i drive it about 200 ft it stops and won't smoke again until i kill it and crank it again. WTF is going on in my 2.5?????? Qhvu-7IBUKc

I have an 87 comanche 4cyl 4spd 2wd that I'm looking to make 4wd. What transfer case/other modifications are needed/what all from an XJ will work? Thanks

I'm starting to look into parts for my lift. I have a 2wd base 87 Comanche with the I4 4spd. For the rear i was looking at the Motion Offroad bolt on SOA kit http://motionoffroad.com/catalog/index. ... ucts_id=65 Is this any good? or should i use new leafs and keep my SUA setup. Also, What all would be required up front for a SOA lift? :typing:

symptoms of an alternator, but not the alternator
Hick replied to Hick's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The book says theres a fusable link in the + wire off the alternator. I'm thinking when the truck got mud covered it shorted something out and blew the fusable link, thus cutting the power from the alternator. :dunno: -
don't worry pete, zoning is nothing but a bunch of a$$holes. They got on me because my dads Caprice wagon had expired tags and was sitting, completely in one piece, in my driveway way up by the garage, but didnt get on my neighbor for having a lawn tractor under his deck and a boat in his yard. They just like their tax money for nothing, so they harass those of us who collect vehicles they wish they could get.

Changing a headliner (lots of pictures)
Hick replied to Squeegy410's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Its easy, all you have to do is take the screws out around the sunroof, then remove the piece that surrounds the sunroof and overlaps the headliner, then do the procedure the OP described. Just remember to reinstall that piece and the screws, or your headliner will fly away :dunce: :wall: -
How rare is a factory sunroof/what are replacements
Hick replied to Hick's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks everybody. This being my first Comanche I'm not sure what all is dealer optional vs stock vs a factory option package etc. I ended up finding a sunroof out of an 82-93 Chevy Blazer. Its slightly bigger than my previous one, so a little cutting is in order. -
So on the first trip since the brakes were fixed, my sunroof decided to say goodbye. I was going down the highway and it flew off the roof, frame and all. I need to know how rare these are and if theres a compatible replacement. I know the jy nearby has 3 MJs, but i don't want to go an hour to find nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did the taillight trim mod Built a "custom" rollpan...... ......until i get the truck back to shop to persuade the broken bumper bolts out and install my $35 jy find (the bumper, not the rear end) And ran front to back brake lines

None of mine work except my shift light. Does anyone have a pic of all the idiot lights lit up? I need to know what lights where but i don't feel like taking them out to shine a light at them from the back. Its an 87 2.5 4spd 2wd if that helps.

Yea, it actually fits my dodge perfect

HAHA  But yea, I'm just swapping the whole thing. I had brakes done last year, so theyll be easy and in good shape. I had spring work done as well, so the U bolts arent even a year old, i may reuse them as well. However i misread the signs and indeed bought an 8.25 when i have a 7.25. But I'm going to install the 8.25, as its for more payload and is the 4x4 axle. I just need to put in a different driveshaft because the 8.25 takes a shorter shaft than the 7.25

I got mine in a trade. I got tired of my 95 Neon so i put it up on CL for trade and this guy contacted me and said he had a Comanche to trade and i said I'm in. Next thing i know i had a Comanche!
