Found the signature link using my laptop... Griff

I’m not a complete idiot but I can’t seem to find the Signature field location in my Profile settings?? Maybe a iPhone issue??

I’ll add my specs and thanks for directing me to the tech forum. Griff04

The lights go off when the engine is started. I’m more concerned about the temp light, the top left one, that is not coming on when the ignition is switched to acc position as the 2 on the right side come on.

Another question. I’ve never had much confidence in “idiot lights”. With the ignition turned on shouldn’t both the lights on the left side be illuminated?? Really concerned about the temp light.

I thought I’d start a new thread for the build. Received the truck this morning at 4am, had it shipped through UShip. This is the 5th vehicle that I’ve have shipped using their providers and the worst to date. Never again, if there is another time I’ll go get it myself. Anyway, got out this morning and did an overall visual, here are some things that stood out. Overall the truck is solid, the only visible rust, surface rust only, I could find was in the bed and a couple of spots around some small creases. Even the floors are solid as a rock. Mechanically, 1. Brakes spongy, found rear wheel cylinder leaking, hence the quart of brake fluid I found in the bed. Will be going through entire brake system. 2. Oil on underside of motor, doesn’t appear to be a RMS more of a leaking valve cover gasket coming from the backside. It’s apparent that the PO attempted replacing the gasket but wasn’t successful with the leak. I see a Felpro in the near future. 3. Noticed what appeared to be some type of fluid blowing down the drivers side top and bottom side of the engine bay. It was very noticeable on the main air filter box. It looked like it was possibly blowing out the vent whole on the power steering reservoir, I’ll add a pic. I checked the level it was overfilled, above the high line on the cap dipstick. Hopefully that is all it was. Anyone else experienced this, it was either over filled or some type of back pressure blowing it out. 4. What is this, will add picture. Found this round object floating around the engine bay, appears to have a vacuum line and sensor hooked to it. Not quite sure what it is and where it mounts?? 5. Starting and driving. Drives okay, tranny shifts out, rides a little rough, will need to do something with tires and rims. Will add pic. One thing I did notice was while starting and when it fires it “high idles” for several seconds and then backs off to a normal idle. Is this normal on the EFI? 6. Cosmetically it needs some love. A good cleaning for a start. Headliner is missing, carpet needs replacing etc, that will be further down the road when I get through the mechanical part of it. 7. Also PO failed to mention that it took a minor hit on front end. Damage to bumper, hood, and grille, it is driveable though. I know that’s a lot to read through but could use some help on the question that are mixed in.

That’s opening up a “can of worms”...I’ve had both. I’ve installed the SUA standard suspension lifts but never the SOA. The one Jeep that I did own with it, actually purchased it with the SOA already set up on it, it sat up high and rode pretty rough, didn’t keep it long. From what I’ve read there’s so much geometry that comes into play when doing a SOA you really have to know what you are doing to get it right. Just google SOA vs SUA and you can read on for days and days. Sorry man, not much help Griff -
I’ll definitely 2nd that...you can get by most of the time buying the “knock off garbage” for non-critical items but when it comes to the important stuff, electronics, etc., spend the extra money, you will come out way ahead in the long. Believe me, been there and done it!!!! Griff

Looking to get a FSM on the Comanche....has anyone used the following, it’s e-downloadable, price is reasonable, as long as it’s accurate I don’t have a problem with it. https://www.google.com/search?q=1988+jeep+comanche+factory+service+manual&sa=X&biw=414&bih=606&tbs=vw:l,ss:44&tbm=shop&prmd=sivn&srpd=1329432256044475527&prds=num:1,of:1,epd:1329432256044475527,paur:ClkAsKraX4Ii7tBgiZLrxrPSpgdCixXcdj4mS5fdt7uHJZfcecLHoVw4Ee3axk4sLOuCOTIQcG2v3aw7pExfYMQ2ZHThp5o5s3izKNJ_XZWTKmNmNMO9_HMSFhIZAFPVH70f4mP2tagHkhgZf3fb1R7uTcriHQ&ved=0ahUKEwjY6JjH64bbAhVHhuAKHcr0CNIQgjYIgQQ -

So I’m going to ask a stupid question, with it being an 88 I’m assuming it has the Renix, is there any “noticeable visual” differences in looking at a Renix and RO engine? -

So I keep hearing about Renix and HOs, trying to understand the difference. What are the pros and cons between them? -

That was a 3 year build on the Scrambler, it was like a love/hate relationship. Started out with just a simple “cleanup” to have something to take to the woods and river, turned out to be an “ornament” that was just too nice to abuse. Sold it to a fellow that was going to put it in his collection of Mopars, go figure! The Comanche build will be totally different, it will be “Used”!!!! Griff -

We agreed on the $2500, I told him consider it sold and sending him a certified check on Monday. Here’ a couple of pics of it: -
Wasn’t sure where to start this thread?? Anyway, new to the forum but not Jeeps, I guess you could call me a Jeepaholic!!! Been building CJS for a few years with a couple of YJs thrown in. My last one was A 1982 CJ8 Scrambler which I sold a couple of months ago and have been bored to death since so I’m looking for something to get my hands dirty again. Always been interested in the Comanches so I started looking a couple of weeks ago. My only problem is I’m not quite sure of an entry price point on them. I’ve seen them from $500 to $10,000. Of course I’m not doing a $10k by no means. I found one one on Craigslist for $2500 which appears to have good “bones” but unsure of the price on it. I had the guy send me pics of the floor pans and frame and it looks clean. I’m hoping some of you Comanche experts can give me some advice. All input appreciated. The CL listing is here: https://fortsmith.craigslist.org/cto/d/1988-jeep-comanche/6586711729.html I’m attaching a pic of my recent CJ8 build. I don’t think I want to take the Comanche this far though. I really want to drive back and forth to the hunting camp and drag the jon boat to the river. Thanks in advance, Griff04
