I noticed such too with the firethorn and it seems to vary. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if somewhere along the line the color started to change. I have a NOS garnet door panel and it looks more on the cordovan side. But yet we have seen some trucks with a vary vibrant garnet color.

Nothing changed from 84-90. Should be the same single din setup as factory unless someone put in a double din radio.

If it’s a factory AMC radio, it will fit in your 86 but chances are, the plugs will not be the same.

How do you go from Jet Black to White?

That one may or may not work. It says that part number is good for 91 and up XJ's, ZJ's and YJ's.

Back in the day there was a special tool to help with adjusting the E brake equalizer. I actually have it but it’s kinda a trial and error thing where if the truck rolls backwards after one adjustment, you’ll keep tightening till it stops. But check your drum shoes, they might be worn.

No problem! You could do a disk conversion but honestly you’ll still have the issue of brake fluid going black at some point which means something is eroding away in the lines. You could just bleed them until clean fluid and watch the fluid for it to turn black quickly. the E-brakes are based on adjustment in the equalizer(in front of the gas tank) and the life on the shoes in the drum brakes. looks like that rubber plug is leaking and not so much the diff.

Actually this is an old car show trick. You take tire shine and spritz it on all the black parts of your engine to make them shine. Hence why the hoses and such are very shiny. I do that from time to time to get that show room look. Also... Anyone see the XJ in the background?

Hmmm. Could easily be the original head gasket. Seems like a lot of the MJs and XJs that come back from the dead these days have the head gaskets failing from sitting.

Well as far as everything, how mechanically inclined are you to do the head gasket? Much quicker and a cheaper job than swapping in a reman motor. That being said, when was the last time the head gasket did get changed?

No their excuse was covid but of course being in commiefornia, who knows why they haven’t responded.
