I'd be interested in a full set of roll bar brackets too. if its possible Id like to get a extra pair of the two angle brackets seen in Figure F as well. For some reason only one side were completely rusted beyond use on the set of brackets I got with my roll bar. If I can get those then I'd be able to complete a set and have another for the next Comanche that comes my way.

I thought I'd do a writeup for Making a stock looking plug-n-play trailer wiring harness for Mj's. First lets start off with the wiring harness connector. This is done on a 92 MJ, from what I understand the harness connector is different on older (possibly renix) than later model MJ's. Luckily for those that have older model MJ's The connector pin out is able to be found in the electrical shop manual. Here's the Pin-out for late model connectors: You can find these connectors on a Bunch of late eighties-early nineties Chrysler vehicles. I got mine out of a 89 dakota -on those the connector is located near the firewall bulkhead connector. Zj's use this same connector for the fuel pump as well. Here's the two connectors I salvaged While I was in the junkyard I got a 7 pin trailer connector and wiring harness out of a WJ with a tow package. I really just decided to take it because of the Chrysler logo which makes it look stock (Plus u pull's are cheap!). I searched around the yard for a bracket to use on my draw-tite hitch (I scored it off of cl for $80!) I found a bracket off of a ford excursion that I decided to use. It had a connector on it but due to my stubbornness of wanting a Chrysler one I just took the bracket. I decided to cut off the tail of the bracket and weld it to the bottom so it encloses the connector. It also uses the bend on the edge and makes it look stock. That's the only ford part # on my MJ Once again, Because of my stubbornness of wanting that stupid logo I had to re-drill and tap the mounting holes for the WJ plug. I ended filling in the old holes with weld. ON TO THE HARNESS With the WJ harness and the two connectors that you salvaged splice the three wires together. I used bare crimp splices and then covered the connection with epoxy coated heatshrink to seal the connection. those crimps are just dorman 638-243 with the insulation removed. If you use epoxy coated heat shrink make sure you get it hot enough that the epoxy gets really melty and then squeeze it around a bit to make sure it coats everything. The two wires I didn't use were for 12V power and the Electric brake controller. Since I don't plan on towing anything bigger than my 3 rail motorcycle trailer and I didn't want to Route a 12V line from the cab or install a electric brake controller I just left those two wires disconnected in the harness if I ever change my mind. once done it should look like this: Then wrap it in insulation to protect it from vibration Once that's done route it along the stock harness. Jeep didn't put very many unused holes in the sheet metal back there so I was unable to mount the harness with out piggybacking off of the existing wire routing. I wish the connector area looked a little more professional, but that's the best I could do without drilling. Here's the finished product: Hopefully that helped someone who is looking to do the same thing! To me it looks factory. I forgot to mention that I mounted the bracket using 3 SS 1/4 bolts and tapped the threads into the receiver.

10 Hole Rim "Jeep" Center Cap Replacement Decals
Lucas7667 replied to Lucas7667's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Hey guys, sorry I haven't been too active, I've been moving all my crap around MO to get ready for another semester. I got them in yesterday and put them on. The brushed gold background looks great and the adhesive seems like it should hold pretty well outdoors. To test it I directly sprayed one of the stickers with a car wash powerwasher and there was no lifting or anything. READ: The only issue that I noticed is that the sticker is slightly smaller than I expected. I don't know if that was an issue with my measurements or if the company that made them rounded. you can see the difference below I honestly cannot notice the size issue once its mounted. I guess if there's any people here with concourse quality MJ's and you're concerned about being knocked for points then these aren't going to be for you haha. Here's what they look like on the wheel And here's what they look like on the whole truck Since I only have 4 sets of 5 right now those who contacted me first get first dibs. That would be Dzimm, Jeeppapa, A-man, and Goatman. Just PM me if you want them and we'll go from there! -
Sometimes If you right click one of those "update your account" images and click "open image in new tab" it'll take you to the Photobucket webpage and you can view the image. Doesn't always work, but its better than nothing. If you get the same "update your account" image on the Photobucket website you can click on the posters profile and sometimes find the image in one of their albums. This only works if the poster kept his profile public. Its better than nothing, but I'm also outraged about this. Before I came a member I was viewing so many images and threads on CC help me work on my Comanche and now its almost completely gone. It really ruins everything Forum wide that people have worked hard to document and help others. Tbh I considered Photobucket dead long before they pulled the plug. That site is riddled with the epitome of the cancerous annoying advertisements that have caused people to download ad-block in droves more than anything else (besides 30sec long commercials in the middle of YouTube videos)

10 Hole Rim "Jeep" Center Cap Replacement Decals
Lucas7667 replied to Lucas7667's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Man I didn't know I'd be getting rid of them this quick! Ill follow up with some pics of them installed in a week or two once I get them to let everyone be the judge. I was thinking 5 for $10 shipped if the quality is what I expect. I only ordered 25 of the Jeep amc ones. If I keep getting interest I could do a run of just "jeep" decals, but for right now all I have are the ones with the amc decal.. I know the center cap itself should fit a bunch of different rims but AFAIK all the other center cap jeep decals (the sticker not the cap) were 55mm or 65mm, this wheel was the only one that I knew of that came with the center cap that has a 43mm decal. but hell, I've been wrong before -
Just trying to gauge interest. My Comanche has stock 10 hole rims on it, for those that have them, you probably know how hard it is to find nice center caps, let alone with the jeep logo still intact. I found a company that would remake the epoxy coated decal, as none on ebay would work because they're too big. from what I measured the decal is 42-43mm I had to order at least 25 of them. Now I like jeeps, but not enough that ill ever go through all 25 decals. Which means ill be wanting to sell this off to anyone who might want them. I changed the design a bit by adding in the amc logo: The background will be brushed gold and should look like the decal above. I won't be getting them at least for a week or two, but if this is something that interests you let me know. I'll be updating once they come in to verify the quality etc. here's the type of wheel i'm talking about. you should be able to just peel the old one off and stick the new one all if all goes well. I really have too much free time at work.

random informative picture thread

Here are some pics I would've found helpful repairing my mj B pillar light wiring 20170711_185954 by Lucas K, on Flickr If you file down the spade connectors on the light and remove the connector housing on your wiring harness you don't have to cut any wires. I just threw the old housings in my glove-box if I ever decide I need them. I ended up needing to replace the diode on one of my lights because I kept hooking up the lights wrong and it went pop. Hopefully this spares someone from having the same experience. Rear tail light harness plug--- These pics are from a 92 Comanche. From what I've seen online older MJs seemed to use a different connector that looks kind of like a weatherpack. I don't know who made this connector for chrysler, or where you get pins for it but you can find them in the junkyard on other cars to make a plug in trailer wiring harness. Early 90s dodge dakotas are the best source for this plug and you can find them at the firewall bulkhead. Jeep ZJ's use this connector for the fuel pump. I'll write more about it on a different thread when I finish making the harness 20170709_110029 by Lucas K, on Flickr 20170709_110049 by Lucas K, on Flickr 20170709_110106 by Lucas K, on Flickr Also a neat alternative to a stock radio that doesnt look like it came from a tron movie: 20170808_121316 by Lucas K, on Flickr s-l1600 by Lucas K, on Flickr Doesn't look too out of place and has a nice stock green backlit display that turns on with the lights. I think it has the capability to dim too but I haven't figured that out. It has Bluetooth (main reason for swapping) USB, aux, CD and gets weatherband. You can pick them up for $40-50 on ebay. Its a Panasonic Pana-Pacific CQ-BT5159U and is used by oems on semis. It uses an iso connector and the only pre made plug and play adapter I could find was P/N PC2-38-4 from europe. It also remembers the time for 30 days with no power. If you do get one you will NEED the owners manual to set it up, my only complaint about it is that it isn't as intuitive as other radios as far as messing with settings/functions. -
