right now I got the 2,8L V6 witch is not working
I can have a 350 with no tranny for free
I can also have a 4,0L with tranny and T-case for about 400$ with every thing I need (cpu and all)
and so far i can't find a 4,3L close to my place ..........
what is the easyest swap for an engine and tranny ?? ??
350
4,2L
4,0L
with tranny standard
sm465 or
nv3500 or
AX-15
its to go in a 86 comanche built on a low budget
here is some pics i just took when I came back from work
I cleaned the box out there was a plywood on the bed and I was afraid that there would be rust underneathbut its fine
slowly Ill start taking the interieur out to look what Ill will be against
I know the floor is rusted but I don't know how bad it really is
the front end looks ok
not to much exterieur rust expect on the bed
I will also take the engine out as soon as my friend is done with is engine jack
do you guys know a link for the frame stiffeners
Ill look at the DIY projects for ideas to do to the truck but if you have some you did with yours go ahead and tell me ill take everything I can get
TY
thanks all
i got 3 set of rims with it including the one on the truck
there is a bit of rust on it but this is all fun and games with a project like that
I would like to know your input on what I wanna do with it
ill do the usual with
grand cherokee coils
SUA in the back
and swap the 2,8L for a 4L (HO probably)
or is there a better swap to do except the 4,3L ( cause I can't find any around here ) :wall:
my bigest question is more as any one of you shorten the bed and frame on a long box to shorten the wheel base :help:
oh yeah MORE PICS COMMING lollllll
well there it is
I just robed a nice guy in calgary I made him an offer he did not refuse lolllllllll
i paid 200$ for is comanche
so what do you think I should do with it ?? ?? ??
I'm looking to buy a cherokee 89 4,0L automatic white with gold trim
can anyone give me general specs on this truck
IE: trany, gear ratio
and my ONE question : can anyone tell me what type of fuel pump?? :dunno: is it the one with the flot assembly or not??
wich years is compatible to find one in a scrap yard
I'm looking for a comanche dirt cheap
the only thing I'm looking for is a good subframe
i don't care for the body rust or the mecanic ill probably replace it anyway
would be nice if i could drive it home
I'm in medicine hat Alberta

thx Dominic
got to say very nice job
couple questions for you if you don't mind
do you have a lift in those leaf springs ??
and if so why didn't you go with a SOA instead ??
other question why did you chose to go with a 8.8 instead of a dana44 wich i think is more common??
thx for your answers
by the way did I mentioned NICE WORK :clapping:
ty thats what i wanted to know
I already knew about the fram oil filter
2nd Q: where is the sending unit on the old V6 and what king of adapter will i need ?
can i rent a pressure gauge from canadian tire ?
I'm curently looking to buy an 86 MJ with the 2.8L
the owner is selling it cuz it sudently lost oil pressure ( actualy went down to 0)
I'm getting it + a chevy 350 for a big 200$
but it would cost me 6 to 800$ to get it towed to my place
and I want to try driving it back home
I know its typical for these old V6 to have oil probs
I'm wondering if its not just an electrical prob
or the oil pick-up
or the oil pump
or the dreaded cam bearing
I want to know what is the best and easyest way to test the oil pressure and what will I need to do so ??
hi I know I'm new to this forum (actualy this is my first post) but i gotta say i redid an old 88 YJ completely that had the front frame at the steering box completely rusted out
I got the frame part done by a pro to be safe and to save time and money
safety is a big issue here
maybe you should talk to some of the guys on this forum and found out how they did theirs
right now I'm thinking to buy myself an MJ and I'm reading some of ur post to find out what ill need to do and to find out what are the weak spots i need to look for when ill buy my own
keep going I'm interested in what ur gonna do to it
good luck with ur project
