Fixing rust in bed's fender
STERLING STINGER replied to dasbrick's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
and when u put your flare back on, don't use any of the clips or brackets...just the flare itself. :clapping: -
Thanks man, We threw that together as an after thought after building the rear bumper. It 4" sprinkler pipe. You can see the 90degree elbows welded on for the corners. Then I took a 6' section of 1.25" poop pipe and with a 1.5" bi metal hole saw, chopped off a 8" piece. Then came back to the chop saw and chopped a second. This got me two "uprights" with birds mouths ready to go. Then I doug around in the nuts and bolts till I found two giant bolts. I stuck them in the ends of the cross tube and burned them on/in. For mounting I welded on a piece of heavy 2" angle iron to the bottom and drilled mounting holes. Its now on my XJ I built up a couple years ago. My pop drove it as he was got back on his feet after my mom passed. I don't drive it much now, its a "extra" vehicle for us. The wife likes it for taking the dogs to the very as they can get in it by them selves. (Its lower to the ground) CW nice tires & rims on that

after working on alt and ps pump all day, i had my buddy pull my truck up to put the plow on. he said "your pedal just went to the floor, and your dummy light is on"...... I'm not sure which line it is, but it is up under the gas tank on the drivers side I'm just gonna bypass tomorrow, but still....crazy right? good thing it just happened in the garage and not on the road during a storm

You need to do proper research before making statements like this. because of one certain ahole mechanic? and how would i reasearch something like that? :dunno: -
IIRC, Rusty's 3" coils up front, factory leafs out back with day-star extended shackle out back. So technically, it was a leveling type of lift with a bit extra out back. The shackle is about 8" eye to eye so it nets ya about 1.5" of lift. BDS shocks up front and Rancho's out back. 31x10.5x15 BFG AT tires on 15X8 AR steel rims. Check my build thread, It pretty much covers all the changes from day one back in 2005. CW whats iirc?

"Ram air" inlet hose for stock airbox
STERLING STINGER replied to socal1200r's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
do you know the intake on the bottom of your airbox? i found a check vaulve in there and mine seemed a little stiff i pbed it, but still stiff so i just rigged it so it stays open....is this ok to do? -
whenever i shut my 88 off, it ticks under the valve cover for about a min when i remove the oil cap, there is a little "smoke" there (inside my garage, not condensation) my gauge reads like 30 at idol and 40 at @ 2000 rpms which seems right to me????? my assumption, since everything else is going wrong that can, is that the lifters arent getting oil and they are expanding or contracting, creating that sound so therefore i need an oil pump ...please tell me I'm crazy....
