  1. This is the 3.4's alternator does anyone know how to wire it up correctly ? P L F S the S is the bigger pin
  2. Will do Eagle but first I got to figure out how to wire the alternator to the battery so that my battery doesn’t die when driving Green Mesa you got a link to any good aftermarket Tachs ? As as far as how it sounds listen to it from the video I posted and you tell me what you think
  3. 8EA38812-FFD3-4BC9-A749-B27EC3E7D458.MOV
  4. Well I did the best I could here's how it looks These are pics of the engine running and the timing light flashing Kinda hard to know when you don’t know exactly what rpm your at How am am I suppose to know if I set it correctly ?
  5. Will give it a try today and see how it goes i also hope that it doesn’t overheat anymore
  6. so me going threw the trouble of finding tdc and glueing the degree tab was all for nothing SMH ... can you explain how you think it works?
  7. is the vacuum port on the passenger side of the carb for the PCV ?
  8. Maybe it is I’m not sure tho
  9. Here’s a pic of the dial i get that black and red to battery and to spark plug number one
  10. yes Eagle i agree thats why i was playing around with the carb to see if i could get it to idle lower ok so now i looked up as much info as i could about the carb and here is what i know so far this is the vacuum control for the distributer this is the fuel bowl vent (i connected it to the charcoal canister) this is the rear idle mixer screw there one in the front too this I'm not to sure what its for ??? this is where the gas comes in at
  11. kool beans now i got to see if i can learn about the dial on the light gun
  12. when you advance the timing your moving it further away TDC before it comes up when you retard the timing your moving it closer towards TDC as its coming up
  13. ok i got a timing light from HFT https://www.harborfreight.com/timing-light-with-advance-40963.html now i got to learn how to use it i get how to hook it up but i don't get what the dial on it is for
  14. what part do you not get ?
  15. No it’s set up for BTD the wheel spins clockwise

  17. Basically what I learned was the choke has a metal coil in it and the power allows the metal coil to heat up and loosen the flaps so that they can move with less resistance So by turning the screw out I got the rpms lower which is great because it will make it easier to see the timing with the light but I’m still not sure about how to make sure that it’s set correctly ?
  18. Ok so I finally hooked up the electric choke hoping I would see it move once it was connected to the battery but nothing happened, I then proceeded to play around with the screw pin that’s behind it and that seemed to have helped a lot I loosened the screw and the rpms dropped to around 800 (I’m going off of sound since my tachometer doesn’t work)
  19. And I glued down the timing tape I printed out Now I'm gonna let it dry so it says in place when it spins around and I got to go get a timing light I’ll update you guys after I get the timing gun but for now I can start a new post on the carburetor since I did manage to hook up the choke
  20. Ok I found TDC The line on the Har-Bal seems to line up with this bolt
  21. Eagle so you think that the choke is normally open and after it gets power it turns closed to allow more gas build up see from what I’ve read and seen online everyone says it’s a normally closed choke and you have to send it power so that it opens and allows the engine to breath warm up and idle down I guess I will find out today as it’s the first time I hook it up to power, I will take a look and see if the rpms go up or down and Green Mesa the new link works but it’s the same info as what my instructions say so it’s not much help for me I need pics to be able to see what there talking about there assuming that I know where all the ports are and exactly what there used for i will post pics of it and show what I understand about it so far
  22. by the way Green Mesa your link doesn't work for me and right now I'm just using the electronic distributor since thats what i already have and i want to learn how to set it up correctly after this i do want to spend the extra money and get the vacuum controlled one now for my carb it shouldn't have an air leak since it comes with a new thick black gasket the instructions it comes with are not the best it just has this one pic i still need to look up how to hook up the electric choke and when it should be on or off (maybe my choke is just not turning off and running it to rich) also i deleted almost all the cali emissions crap since i don't need it
  23. i printed this out to set my timing on my harmonic balancer i should be able to just cut it out and glue or tape it to my Har-Bal it is for a 6 and 13/32 size wheel which is what i need cause my wheel is 6.406 inches
  24. Now my other problem is getting the rpms down so that it can be easier to adjust the distributer the engine idles at like 2000 rpm right now if I can get it down to 700 like Green Mesa said would be nice but I got to learn how to tune down my Weber carburetor
