Now THAT'S a pleasant surprise!!! :rock on: :clapping: That's what I thought based on the pics I was comparing it to but it's nice to have confirmation. Thanks hornbrod! Guess I can scratch that future rear axle upgrade off my list now.

Sorry for the noob question but can someone tell me what my rear axle is based on the below pic? Previous owner said the rear axle was a Dana 35 but comparing it to pictures online it looks like it might be a 44. Am I dreaming? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I appreciate the input! Yeah I'm currently leaning towards keeping the SOA lift and just upgrading stuff on the front end. Of course last week I was planning on dropping it to 3.5" haha so I'm gonna give it some more time to see what I decide on. Right now one of the biggest factors is cost. To do the exact 3.5" lift that I want it would be around $1300 in parts alone which I already mapped out: Hells Creek 3” rear leaf - $659.50 (shipped) Rubicon Express 3.5” super ride front kit - $404 Front shocks: Bilstein 5100 series 24-188197 - $152 (pair) Rear shocks: Bilstein 5100 series 33-185552 - $167 (pair) Total: $1382.50 But if I keep it SOA, I can just get new shocks in the front and possibly new coil springs and call it a day. Well like I mentioned before I'll probably sell my 32x11.5s and go up to 33x12.5s.

Where are you getting the window seals from? I have a lot of wind noise and want to replace mine. I ordered mine off RockAuto.com, ordered them from the equivalent year Cherokee since those match. Here are the part numbers: OMIX-ADA 1230367 OMIX-ADA 1230373 OMIX-ADA 1230366 OMIX-ADA 1230372

Certainly a unique truck but definitely not how I'd spend 55k

I did try that tonight and it didn't happen after 20 secs. Right now it's only happening on a cold start. If the engine is warm it doesn't occur. I drained the oil and added a quart of MMO with fresh oil tonight so hopefully that eventually cures it. I'm just gonna give it time now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Uhg I can't make up my mind whether I should drop the truck to 3.5" or keep the current 5.5" SOA. I feel like if I keep the current lift I should move up to 33x12.5 tires because my current 32x11.5s look a little small. I know it's ultimately up to me but opinions are welcome :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just checking in and showing support for my inspiration truck! 35s are looking hyoooooj :) I'm hoping to do the WJ brake booster upgrade soonish myself. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Snagged some fixed vent windows on eBay and installed one on my passenger side door tonight! No more duct tape over the window hurray. I also drained the oil to put fresh oil and a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil in hopes of curing my lifter tick on startup. Didnt immediately fix it but I'm gonna give it time now. It doesn't happen if the engine is warm, only on a cold start. Finally, I replaced the PCV grommet because the old one was torn up and barely secure...the previous owner had it secured with zip ties. Productive evening! I ordered a new fuel pump because the old one is super loud and seems to be showing signs of failing. Also getting some fresh window seals because the old ones are worn out. Those look really good hornbrod. Seems silly now but I just learned that you don't have to convert to 97+ doors to have power windows/locks :) I'm definitely open to it in the future now. As things stand right now, I'm leaning towards going with the body shop route with the existing doors. I'm at least going to get a quote, can't hurt.

I'm interested in the wing windows when you go to fixed..... The passenger side glass was broken and is removed now, drivers side is fine. They aren't in the greatest condition but PM me if you're still interested.
-
I think I had it in my mind that you had to convert to 97+ doors in order to have power windows. But after looking around it doesn't look like that's the case? I just want to keep the original door panel look and the 97+ doors throw that off. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Very generous offer! I think I'm gonna get a quote from a body shop first but I appreciate it. I found a local parts XJ on Craigslist that has red doors for sale, so if nothing else works out maybe that will. @schardein I just found some fixed vent windows in great condition on eBay tonight and snagged them up. If I don't end up using them I can always resell Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I guess that's true, it doesn't have to be power. Good point, see that's why I wanted to post on here just in case I was missing something! My truck is white. Yeah I'm planning to get my truck panted too, would just have to have the door jambs done as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Glad to know I'm not alone :) I think the hardest part would be finding a new non-power door locally. And the likelihood of the color matching would be slim. I believe the swap itself should be simple. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

After mulling it over some more I'm thinking it might be difficult to find some non-power doors, even from an XJ. I don't see any on my local Craigslist and no one is gonna ship an entire door. I might be better off having a body shop take a look at it. Heck, it might even be something I could patch myself, but I have no auto body experience.

I'm having trouble making up my mind and I'd like some input. My recently acquired MJ had tow mirrors at some point in the past which have since been removed. Sadly this leaves ugly holes in the doors: I don't like the look of the tow mirrors so I'd like to patch the holes. But I'm wondering if it would be easier and/or cheaper to source some doors from a Cherokee rather than paying a body shop to patch the holes. I suppose I could get a quote from a body shop, but I wanted to get some opinions from you guys first. I also have to replace the vent window glass on the passenger side door so that's another reason why I'm leaning towards getting new doors. If I go the new door route, I think I would try to find 96 or earlier doors because I want to maintain the original look on the inside AND I don't want to mess with all the electronics for power windows & locks. Ideally they wouldn't have vent windows at all, but I don't know if that's possible without going to a 97+ door. Eventually I'm going to get the whole truck repainted anyway. Well I changed the oil a few days ago using a Wix filter and Mobile 1 10w-30 synthetic oil and it hasn't resolved the issue yet. Guess I'll wait a little while longer then try MMO. But my engine has 172k miles on it so...I might just have to live with it for now. -
Overdue for an update! Just got new tires installed: BFG A/T KO2 32x11.5x15 along with Jegs 15x8 D window wheels, 4" back spacing. Stickers haven't even been rubbed off yet, haha. Also got new Skyjacker Nitro shocks in the rear, new U joints, JKS adjustable track bar, and alignment. Drives so much smoother now, especially with freshly balanced tires. Now I'm seriously considering lowering it down a little bit. Trying to decide between 3 or 4 inch lift SUA. The current SOA lift isn't very practical for my intended use of this truck, its tough to load the bed and looks a little high with the 32s. I changed the oil with a Wix filter and Mobile 1 10w 30 in hopes of fixing the loud noise on startup with no success. So that's still an issue that needs to be addressed. Next up I gotta fix that broken vent window on the passenger side. Also wanna do the WJ brake booster upgrade. Obsessed with this truck!! Oh and I started @comanche.club on Instagram, so give it a follow if you have an IG account. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What brand oil filter do you use? I'm on vacation so I can't check right now, but I'll take a look when I get home. I need to do an oil change anyway. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Ok I checked it this weekend and the current oil filter is Driveworks. Appears to be an Advance Auto budget brand. I just ordered a Wix filter so I'll give that a shot and report back with the results. -
