I will check harbor freight for sure. They ship here and they are relatively cheap on stuff. I really don't want to buy something like the national for a one time use. The ones Pete is showing will more than likely work just fine with tires off.

That's definitely an idea. I may check our tool rental place to see what they have. More than likely will have to buy some. Living on an island there are some draw backs. We don't have a lot of stuff available like back there. When working on vehicles I miss being back in Texas. With 35's under it. The truck sits pretty high. From ground to bottom of truck is 27". I will be jacking it up higher so I can put my regular stands under the axle to support it when replacing the control arms. Thanks guys.

OK guys I am fixing to replace my old 4.5 lift with a new 5.5 rubicon lift for my truck. I am a little stuck on a solution on how to support the truck itself. It already sits pretty high and jack stands don't extend that high. As it is now I have to extend my jack stands all the way,under the axle so I can remove the tires. I am clueless how I am going to support the truck without putting anything under the axle being so high up. The very last thing I want to do is work under a vehicle that isn't properly support and can come crashing down. I'm sure there is a way to do it but I want to make sure it's safe as well. Thanks in advance.

I recently purchased one off eBay if was fairly cheap. Might take a look there if anyone else doesn't have one handy.

I wasn't talking about the window slider. I meant the actual sheet metal around the window itself. I live on a tiny island and shipping the actual window itself wouldn't be wise. More than likely it would be destroyed on an 9000 mile trip. My current window frame is rusted pretty badly and I'm thinking that I can use that as a possible replacement. The frame itself can be cut and made easier to ship it.

If anyone is in Florida and wanting to help out on a part I could use this part http://lakeland.craigslist.org/pts/5087062915.html I don't need the window but the window frame itself would be a huge help in repairing mine. You could keep the window if you wanted to. Just give me a shout if you are willing. I will cover all cost involved in picking it up and shipping it. Thanks CJ

Could not say it any better. I happen to live on an island in the middle of the ocean. :D Finding parts isn't very hard. It's the getting them shipped there that's the hard part. Small stuff is easy just use USPS. The bigger stuff you need to have a great group of guys willing to help out. Luckily this is just the place for it. I am so glad I found the club. The guys here are friendly and very helpful.

That's what I was thinking as well but you guys are far more knowledgeable than I am about Comanche trucks. Thought I would check and get opinions from you guys. Thanks

So it's just a matter of relocating the shock. I thought I would have to change the entire setup. Sounds simple :-)

Does anyone have a picture of the way it is supposed to be set up? I want to fix it right so when I decide to go out wheeling I don't have to worry if I'm walking home. :-) Pete said his wasn't ideal. The way it is now isn't something I want to keep driving on.

There is a picture I finally got it to work.

No mine isn't even close to that. I made an mistake in explaining, my plate is on top of the springs. It is running stock size shocks in it's current setup.

I have pictures of the set up, however I can't seem to get them to upload. they took the plate the shock attaches to and placed it on top of the axle.

Hi guys I was fixing one of my back brakes somehow one of the springs popped off. Got that fixed and was looking at the way the previous owner did the spring over axle lift. Does anyone have pictures of the correct way it is supposed to be done? I noticed my shock mounts are on top of the axle. I don't believe that it's the correct way to do it. I was searching the forums for pictures but couldn't find anything that helped. It is a Dana 44 if that helps any.
