  1. idk what its called but if it were me I would just walk through the JY and pull one from a cherokee
  2. Hey just asking for some feedback on which brand part seems to be the best. I plan on changing this part when I get it to my house to avoid the small leaking problem I have (not messy at all fuse box seems to be fine ) any input would be greatly appreciated. Right now I have a cut sponge wedged under the clutch master cylinder to prevent any seeping fluid while it sits
  3. wow did I help someone ?
  4. If I recall correctly, the thermostatic fan relay is located on the driver side, toward the front, along the front fender. This was an answer on my relay post from last week not sure if its right though
  5. Nah I'm not going to wire directly I will add some kind of quick connector male and female for each wire separately for the time being so I can get her to the New house hopefully on tuesday then I can work on her every day of the week! ahhh comanche Bliss
  6. if I get a junkyard part I will still have to wire them to the old wires so I might as well just not use a connector or get 2/4 way connectors which would require more dough
  7. can't seem to find the right connector you are mentioning weatherpak?
  8. Put another notch on Cruiser's belt! Took this connector apart and now I know why my directionals don't work. This connector controls all the lights on both sides right? The Gremlins ate 4 of the pins :fs1: so I have to replace both sides of the connector what is the best way to go about this ?.... cut and splice new one in? Do I have to remove the black heat jacket? any idea if this is a junkyard part only? Or could I just remove the connector and wire the wires together directly and bypass the connector?
  9. right but this will fit and its available xj are picked dry here in NH
  10. i found a 1987 comanche automatic at the junkyard will the fuse panel fit my 89 4.0 and does it have to come from a 4.0 comanche to be compatible
  11. also electrical gremlins got to my manche in just 3 days of it sitting..... none of my directionals work inside or outside of the vehicle and they did 3 days ago sigh.....guess I will clean/ rewire front light plugs. I can't seem to locate the passenger side one is it behind the headlight? Also while I was down there with a flashlight I pressed in the clutch with my hand and could see a small amount of fluid coming out of the rubber boot where the piston goes in. I fear it has leaked on the back of my panel a little not sure how much but its not all oily under the carpet.
  12. I was en route doing tip 18 and ran into this so I didnt proceed
  13. figured it was that easy but never saw anything about the headlight switch ground being in the equation and if it belonged grounded at that point. The headlight switch wire is black for a couple inches then spliced to a green then connected to the ground.
  14. I know this is covered but I ran into a bump in the road take a look at the picture. seems that my head light switch is grounded under my instrument panel..... there is only one wire that goes to the headlight switch its the green one you see in the picture. there isnt even a connector on it just copper pinched under the ground.. I'm guessing this is not correct what do I do.
  15. when i first checked the oil there was only like 2 quarts in poor thing so I added 3 quarts (all i had with me in the XJ) . don't have the dough to do an oil change today .. oh well another time I will do it. Guess I will just change the fuel filter and install a new oil pressure sender and hopefully I can locate the damn ground for the fuse panel, looked for 30 mins the other day and couldnt find the damn ground wire.
  16. well it is registered just not in my name it was driven since november driven from PA to NH but neglected then the windshield broke and he sold it previous owner drove it since november as a daily to and from work. I state it as "not regular" because I know nothing of its service history. The oil is really black...blackest ive seen
  17. So I'm going to use this junk tomorrow on the manche and I know how to use it on a regular vehicle but this one I'm guessing hasn't had a oil/ filter change since last Nov or even longer who knows....(not my fault) So I started this thread to ask some opinions on my approach. I was thinking about getting a new oil filter and swapping it in before I run the MMO through the system , reason being I'm not sure how old / full the filter is and its a FRAM don't want the MMO to clog the old one any further. I can't drive this car on any roads in its current no registration or inspection situation especially with a broken windshield.... So I was going to add the MMO and then let it run and idle for a while ( any idea how long?) I was planning on taking this approach every couple days when I work on it and let it idle the MMO through the system.
  18. 1989 PIONEER I 6 4.0 2WD LONGBED PEUGEUT 5 SPEED Thats all I have remembered for specs I got this truck for 400$ private sale from someone who just never opened the hood or did any maintenance under the hood. I got this cause I just got a new house and needed a Farm truck. Glad it ended up being a MJ . Slowly getting her tuned up and road ready biggest issue she has is needs a new windshield
  19. have a friend if you have one that can weld a torx bit even stripped one to the bolt you are trying to get out ...? then have a go at it
  20. I will do this when I get home from work thanks a lot for the manuals also
  21. yeah planning on getting one this week
  22. ok... sorry again guess there is no pcv on a 4.0 correct I will just get the 2 harnesses and see if I can get the nipple out and back in without it snapping
  23. Planning on replacing my pcv valve/ front and back vacuum harnesses since i looked down the hoses with a flashlight and its caked with oil front and back harness both. I have read its smarter to just take the whole valve cover off to do this repair. I'm planning on doing that as plan B. does the pcv thread in? Or is it pressed into the gromet. sorry for another noob DIY I have read up on it and looking at the replacement pcv valve I just can't picture how it is installed. Metal end inside the valve cover plastic part connects to the vacuum. Is there a certan direction the metal part should be facing while its installed ( facing the firewall or facing the front doesnt matter?) Sorry for the noob question just having trouble finding a little more detailed write up, besides cruisers
  24. 89mj has 100% clean electrical connectors even the headlights.... I don't understand how but I'm glad its not all corroded green I think someone might have re done the wiring harness in mine at some point in its life but I'm not sure .
  25. I hate ford don't trust anything they make even as simple thing as a relay sanding the ford logo off the relay (if thats what your saying) would just be polishing a turd imo. I doubt these 2 ford relays came stock with the jeep
