  1. You did take your new torque wrench home with you didn't you? Tell me you didn't leave it in the sticks. Maybe you should have two sets of tools, one for home and the other for the other home. :rotf: Scott
  2. Thanks, that helps eliminate some of what I was thinking. That oil pressure thing is a big pain when I throw fire to the 89 Chevy. It's a 454 1-Ton, when I say start, I want to hear it ROAR, not crank for 5 seconds then ROAR. There have been some good ideas on the solution to the problem. Anybody want to bet an OREO cookie on the solution? ;) Scott
  3. What gives???? I figured that if my idea was really stupid, somebody would at least take pity on an old phart and straighten me out. At least one smart-alec response was expected as I am really new to Jeep stuff. Come now fellas, I'm old enough to have a thicker hide and IF I can remember where I left my feelings I'll put them on my sleeve so they can get hurt. Seriously, does the MJ have such a check in the ECU? Could this be a possible explanation for the original question? Scott (It's past my bedtime, I'm heading for a nitecap of my favorite old phart medicine.)
  4. Pete, aka The Flash, strikes again, before the iron gets hot!! Scott
  5. viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2001 Page 3, about 70% down This is what my son and I used to reference when we did his. Is that what you were looking for? Scott
  6. And now for something completely different........ Agreed, I don't have enough experience with Jeep's (yet) to fill a bucket with BS, but...... Does the computer system look for a oil pressure threshold before turning on the ignition at start-up? The description fits the behavior of two vehicles at my house, but they are Chevy's, one 89 and the other a 95. Scott (who could be just one cup of coffee short of full operating mode)
  7. I saw an ad for a tranny from a 4.0 MJ for $300 over in Sedalia (north of you about an hour). Sorry, I'm not helping am I? Just trying to lighten the mood for ya. Scott Before you ask, yes IF I had money, I would be all over it. Son #3 wouldn't mind an MJ especially with deer season coming up. I also want an XJ to fix up for my wife and get rid of her suburban. All IF I had money. I officially refused to work for free anymore in mid Feb. My old employer owes me a huge chunk, but got stiffed by our customer so I may never get it. (sorry, sordid tale not worth getting steamed about.) Still looking for a new job.
  8. While your not doing anything I found this on CL. (No, it's not mine.....just looking around CL to see what is listed.) Seems to be pretty close why not take a look??????? http://springfield.craigslist.org/cto/1359287153.html :D Scott
  9. Not asking in a direct way....... Posted both MJ's in Classified, but surely someone of your addiction could help a fella out and buy them just to get them out of my way. It's terribly hard to concentrate on finding a XJ for my wife when trucks keep poping up. :help: The remaining son at the house even said the other day that a MJ might be allright, but he kinda feels a little cramped when driving his brother's MJ. Nobody here told me that this addiction would spread like this........... it's like duck hunting all over again. Scott
  10. Then again, I could be driving this.........http://kansascity.craigslist.org/cto/1314413452.html That would be fun until the police caught up with me!!!! Scott
  11. I posted two different CL ad's (Classified) from today both in the KC area. They are taunting me!!!!!!!! Really don't need the distraction as I want to find a XJ for my wife and sell her suburban, only one kid at home now and don't need the size or gas guzzling anymore. Somebody pick these up and save me! Scott
  12. Try an easy-out, preferably a smaller diameter that can get in deeper. It may have been inserted hot which will make the removal mess a bit bigger. Scott
  13. Anti-seize?!?!?!? You mean we might want to take something back off at a later date? After it's had water, mud, heat and time thrown at it?!?!?! Well, we might have to look into that. Usually, I prefer to go the hard-headed route rather than plan forward. it's much more exciting that way. You see, I just ordered a new track bar the MJ, cause I CAN'T GET THE BOLT TO BREAK LOOSE ON THE DONOR VEHICLE AXLE MOUNT!!! Not bad though, only $60. for a new one. That will get him back on the road without the squirlly steering. Have fun, Scott
  14. Ugh. I'm a little old for slouching on the college dorm couch. I'll just pull up a bar stool. I'll pour either coffee or bourbon, I don't care which, and watch the fun and frivolity. Thanks
  15. Hi! I have been lurking around for some time now, as one of my sons has this incurable affection for Comanche's. He is on his second. (He is a member here, so I won't go into truck details.) Dear old Dad, who seems to have time to help when things break, is the one who's researching trouble spots. Dear son is busy working 12-14 hour days right now. After spending a lot of time reading and re-reading around here, I must say that for a bunch with an incurable affection (addiction?) you certainly share in your knowledge and mistakes. Thanks for that. No questions for today, All I have to do today is convince a axle bolt on a track bar to let go so we can change it out on the MJ. (It seems to be really froze up, PB Blaster is my bestest buddy, I hope.) I'm just saying thanks for sharing. I've learned a lot about these trucks. Scott
