Can anyone tell me how to remove the two main harness connectors from the firewall in my renix 4.0? There seems to be a retaining clip around it and I can't seem to get it free of the connectors so that they can be removed, and I definitely don't want to break it just because I don't know what I'm doing and then have to replace it

Brake line help
Sir Jacob the 2nd replied to Sir Jacob the 2nd's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Awesome thanks for the help -
Okay so I ran into a slight delima, I'm confident it's a FAIRLY easy fix I just need some more information... The PO replaced the master cylinder shortly before I bought the truck, well now that I'm tearing it apart I found that whoever they had replace it rounded off several of the fittings headed to both the proportioning valve, and MC. I guess my question is can I just replace those lines with some copper or steel tubing from the hardware store and some flare fittings? I noticed that the existing tubes are flares out on the end and I wasn't sure if that would make a difference!

1990 pioneer 4.0 rebuild
Sir Jacob the 2nd replied to Sir Jacob the 2nd's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Well for one thing the serial numbers on the block don't match the catalyst and two it had been spray painted with white paint to mark it at the yard. I don't recall what it said now. But the block had caked on oil when I bought it because of some significant leaks so the writing was covered. And now as I was cleaning it off, I found it -

Break in oil post rebuild
Sir Jacob the 2nd replied to Sir Jacob the 2nd's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Lol and what is your preferred method impulse Well, on the last two engines I built, I did an initial break in start, changed the oil, and drove them to the dyno. Both of those engines to my knowledge are still running strong, one for over 7 years now, and is semi daily driven. Many people think dyno break ins are stupid and prefer the old fashioned method of driving nice for a couple thousand miles. Hence my comment about debating on the best method lol.Haha gotcha. Yeah I think I'll avoid the Dyno myself lol -

Yeah haha the PO was going to try and tow his boat with it . So he screwed those ugly things in there and glued plastic plates over the OEM mirror spots -

Well here she is, my MJ long box. It's a bit rough around the edges but all in all not in bad shape. I think the farthest north it has been is South Carolina according to the PO so minimal rust which is always good. -

Awesome thanks guys, royal purple is what I was initially considering so that pretty much backs that up. -
Well gents I bought my MJ about a year ago and started noticing a few things that needed work. So I started in on those and found a large list of things that the PO screwed up, and so began my rebuild. And it all started with a/c repair haha. Will be posting some pictures here shortly, as soon as I can work out exactly how

Hey guys, I just wanted to take a quick poll here and see if there are any specific break in oils that yall have used after rebuilding your engine, I had a few in mind but I would like more opinions!

top two transmission bolts
Sir Jacob the 2nd replied to dustyinthedirt's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I had to loosen the motor mounts on mine and drop the transmission bracket then jack up the front of the engine in order to get enough room to get a socket in there. Needless to say those external torx bolts aren't going back in.- 22 replies

EGR valve controversy
Sir Jacob the 2nd replied to Sir Jacob the 2nd's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks for the input guys. I think I'll be getting rid of it. We don't have emissions testing here in fl so I'm just gunna scrap it. -
Is the EGR valve and system pertinent? I've heard strong arguments for and against the egr valve, but no conclusion based on facts, just hearsay. Thoughts? (The reason I am trying to iron this out is because I'm looking for headers and some that I have found do not have the port for the EGR valve so if anyone has suggestions on headers those would be most welcome.)

Renix headers/custom headers
Sir Jacob the 2nd replied to JeepComanche89's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Will those afe headers work with my renix without any clearance issues, it only list it as applicable for YJ/TJ and I don't know enough about them to know for sure they will work with no issue
