  1. great news!!! i was one tooth off, even with this post when put it in it didnt look right, but hey it runs now so THANK YOU so much!!!! i wouldnt have tried that i don't think because it looked dead on before. also I'm am running the 88 flywheel and distributor. i port matched the head some, i went about halve way on each runner, but as this was the first time doing anything like that and not having the proper tools i didnt wanna get into a water jacket or mess the head up. so i opened it some. thank you guys again, you have helped me before and now again!!!! i was so frustrated!!!! :???:  :headpop:
  2. i think also the reason is because the 2wd is longer
  3. hey guys i just put in a 96 grand Cherokee engine in my 88 comanche. i put a egr block on the intake. but when i start it and it idles down it runs smooth and sounds good. when i hit the gas and it gets to about 1500-2000 rpm it back fires out the exhaust and won't rev any higher. would any one have any ideas what this might be? also when i unplug the vac to the map sensor it runs really rough but will then rev up to about 3000 before it back fires/.
  4. He's putting a 4.0 from an auto trans ZJ into an MJ with a manual trans. Therefore, he will need a pilot bearing in the 97's crankshaft as it currently has none. yes I'm using my old pos pergot trans for now. eventually ill either be putting in a auto or a ax15. thank you again for all your guys help!!!!
  5. thank you cruiser, that is is about all that i have seen that i will have to change form the top side. witht he exhaust, if I'm willing to build new exhause all the way back would it be benifical to using the ho exhaust? i know they are pron to cracking as the ho's is already cracked but i was told that by welding it back up, using a flex pip and building new system (halve of my old system is cusom anyways) that it should work ok. also i was wondering which pilot bering i will be needing for the trans. I'm hoping that one day soon i can upgrade to the ax15 and 242 tranfer but as I'm about to move about nine hours away in about three months i don't wanna tackle that just yet. thank you again cruiser this was i huge help
  6. hey guys, i have a 88 comanche 4x2 4.0 manual. I'm putting a 97 grand cherekee auto engine into it. first i was wondering when i get to mounting the tranny to it, what will i need to get as far as pilot berring. also will my flywheel mont to the new engine. is there anything else that i should know before i get to far into it that i will need to do. also I'm doing some interier work and I'm taking the heat controles out and just want to put in some pull cable to control where the heat goes and how hot it is. as I'm doing this i want to get rid of any exter wires/vaccume lines under the hood. where would i find something about what is needed to still run the truck and what isnt needed. thanks for any help
  7. i really like that camo paint and lights!!!! i think I'm gonna box mine in and get some oval leds and put in it tho
  8. i have a 88 mj 4x2 4.0 the rings are shot and I'm looking to swap in something fairly quick and then rebuild the motor i have and make it a stroker and all that later as i have the money. i did find a 97 grand charakee with a 4.0 auto. i was talking to a local guy and he said the exahust won't line up and the crank position sensor needs to be switched. i was wondering if anyone knew of anything else that needs to be changed. any other info would be great also. also i would like to convert this to 4x4 using the better ax15 and a 231. any advice on this?
  9. if you can find the rear tire carrier off a s10 blazer they are almost perfect for fitmint on the comanche. i buit a couple this last summer and they work great. even used there latch pin to close it. all i did after i fabed it up was add a little weld on the inside of the latch till it was tight and didnt wiggle any.
