  1. Image Not Found Awesome. So you got this from a ZJ? How easy was it and what all parts did you get?
  2. Just changed my gear oil. I do have a 4.56 gear. had markings with 41-9...41/9 = 4.5555... Getting my water pump in the mail this week sometime, looking forward to putting everything back together and see whether my overheating problem is fixed. I certainly hope so. Then I will test out pulling that boat trailer. Thanks again guys for the help.
  3. Yeah I am wondering the same question
  4. That would be great if they added that.
  5. I noticed that and did research and also pulled it before ordering a new one. I got the correct one
  6. I do plan to get power steering eventually. I just want to get my truck in operation as quick as possible. Ill do the power steering upgrade later this summer. And as for replacing the water pump, I made sure I ordered the correct one. I had to get the reverse rotating one, I have a single serpentine belt.
  7. I considered maybe a head gasket but wouldnt that mean Id see evidence with oil and coolant mixing? and how do I know if I have a bad fan clutch? Ill definitely just get back after Ive replaced my water pump. and see if that does the trick
  8. Yeah I have replaced the thermostat and still overheated. I checked the tstat first with hot water to see it working properly. I will do the radiator flushing when I get a chance, do i just take a fully running hose to the top and all should be running out the bottom with out it over flowing the top? and Yes the fan shroud has been on the whole time. Thanks for the help and suggestions
  9. Just pulled my water pump this afternoon, it didnt seem like there was anything wrong with it, but I hope that there is because I have no clue what else could be causing my overheating problem. Just ordered another pump so should have everything back on next week. if it doesnt fix it i don't know what it could be. I'm so impatient and want to get it back up and running to add the things I want to it.
  10. Well thank you and thats good to know. Ill consider myself a 4 cylc freak, it is all I got lol. This weekend after pay day, ill be ordering a water pump, and begin replacing that, gonna replace the valve cover gasket had a slight oil leak, and gonna replace the oil in my axle. Just picked up some an hour ago. Got lots of plans this weekend and once I get the required maintenance done Ill start looking into the upgrades like power steering. and will be doing the research then. Thanks so much for the help
  11. Thanks all for the info and tips. I have a summer with plenty of afternoon and weekend time. So I plan to do a lot of maintenance to get my truck in tip top shape. This weekend I now plan to change the oil in my differential and then finalize what my gears actually are. And also gonna pull my water pump and check it hoping that's the cause of my recent over heating. I'll probably have questions regarding that soon enough lol. And with the towing when my truck is running well I'll test it out and get back. The lakes I plan to go to are just about 15 minutes away. No long trips while towing so donno if getting an auxillary cooler will be necessary. But if you all advise it. I'll definitely look into it.
  12. I am still in the process understanding my comanche that I have owned for about 7 months now, learning things through this site here and there. Right now I am in the middle of replacing my water pump due to having over heating problems. After I get my truck to working conditions I am just wondering a few things about my vehicle. Everything is stock. From this post : http://comancheclub.com/topic/28409-engine-tranny-and-axle-ratios/?hl=axle+ratio I am guessing that the axle I have is the Dana 35 and it has a gear ratio of 4.56. Can someone validate this and also explain to me what this means? and kind of explain in layman's terms what the performance of my truck is compared to other comanches, like the power, and speed. I have 235/75r15 tires on. Its the 2.5l with the AW4 automatic. Also, I have acquired a drawtite receiver hitch and I am wondering how it will do pulling a bass tracker that weighs about 1200 - 1500lbs. Will it drive alright? or should I not even attempt it? or should extra upgraded measures make this safe? And the last question is that I have manual steering and this summer I would love to put in power steering. What work and what parts at what cost would this be to add power steering? is it easy to do? Thank you for your time, I apologize if I come of as amateur. I'm new to working on vehicles.
  13. after looking it up. i found that the size is 1/8 - 27 thread sound about right? found it off of here listed the size for the temperature sensor http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=44888&cc=1181584
  14. would you happen to know what size plug i would need? and thanks guys!
  15. Hi, Where is the temperature sensor located on the 2.5L? It isn't in the front connected to the thermostat housing/water outlet is it?? I am asking this because I am in a predicament. I had to replace my thermostat housing because while changing my thermostat, I tightened the bolts on it but the thermostat slipped and the pressure of the screw cracked at one of the bolt locations. Any ways, I order one for my exact year and engine thinking itd be exact but theres an extra hole in it for the temperature sensor like in other engines. I don't believe I had one there before. What should I do? Should I just buy a sensor to just plug up the hole even though the sensor won't be used?
  16. Funny seeing you having the same problem I'm having with mine right, and were both in VA. Mines been over heating too. Havent tried anything yet. I pulled the thermostat, tested the old one and it didnt open up at the specified temperature. I then went and got a new one, and while installing it the thermostat slipped as I tried bolting the thermostat housing thing back on and the housing cracked at one of the ears near a bolt. So now waiting on a new one of those. But for the old one being stuck, I believe that my problem was a stuck closed thermostat. Ill get back to you on if it fixes it when I get my part in. I'm not a mechanic nor skilled with working on vehicles, I'm 20 years old and been working on my comanche which initially never started but fixed it and got it to run, and been learning how things work by that. You can do some easy checks to try and pin point why its overheating though, things I found while searching why mine was overheating. If its not leaking anything, are you still losing a lot of coolant? You can check your oil and see if its kind of milky looking, which means that oil and coolant is being mixed up, which means theres a possiblility that your head gasket blew, or the head is cracked. I see all youve described is that your temp light came on, was you engine compartment smoking or anything, or did your engine cut off from overheating? hopefully I'm a bit of a help to you. replied to you to show some empathy since we are in the same boat.
  17. Does he still have those taillights?
  18. The person I'm buying from bought the trailer new and it's been a garage, he's never even pulled it out to use. So hopefully it's in decent condition. I'll get back to this post after I get the trailer tomorrow
  19. The harness I spliced in is the ones that have the led lights for all the functions. I'm going off that until I get a trailer which I will be getting tomorrow.
  20. I'll clean up the grounding behind the drivers side tail light. And jeep driver yeah. the flashers, turn signals and brake lights for the trailer work when the running tail lights aren't on. But when I pull the knob as if to drive at night to turn on running taillights the flashers, turn signals, and brake lights for the trailer don't work. the running taillights will turn on though.
  21. Okay so I've recently spliced in a flat 4 trailer harness in preparation to pulling a trailer I am going to be picking up. I found the write up on here which is: "After searching the forums is became apparent that there is a lack of information on wiring trailer harnesses to the MJ. Although it would be nice to get one of those 'plug and play' type kits that are available for the newer vehicles, they are in very short supply for the 86-92 trucks we drive (at least down here). Jeepcomj had a great idea in one of his posts, go to the junkyard and get the under body to stop/turn/parking light harness connector (both sides), leaving enough loose wires to create your own 'plug and play' set, but that still does not address our hook-up problem...so: The rear stop/turn/parking harness has 5 actual wires in it, and although there are numerous factory splices to duplicate wires to each of the plugs, the wire codes are as follows: Brown: Right turn and brake light Black: Ground Blue: Tail (parking) lights Brown with white tracer: Backup light Grey with black tracer: Left turn and brake light Another way to explain it: Assuming you are standing at the the back of the truck, the LEFT side being the drivers side, and the RIGHT side being the passenger side, the main body ground will be behind the left tail light, and the plugs on the left side will have the gray w/ blk tracer wire. The right side will have the brown wire. To hook up a six pole receiver you have six wires: White: Ground (Don't ask why...) Brown: Tail (parking) Yellow: Left Turn Green: Right turn Blue: Electric trailer brake Red: Auxillary So Harness TO Receiver: Brown TO Green Blue TO Brown Black TO White Brown w/white TO Red (my choice - my trailer has reverse lights) Grey w/black TO Yellow For a 4 wire flat connection it would be: Harness TO Flat 4: Brown TO Green (sometimes with yellow tracer) Blue TO Brown Black TO White Grey w/ black TO Yellow Hope this helps! " And I did exactly what it says. What's happening is, the turn signals, both sides are working for the harness I spliced in, and the flashers work as well, and also when the brake is depressed. But when I pull the knob to turn on headlamps/taillights the turn signals, and flashers stop working properly for the harness, but all lights on the comanche are working properly. Did I hook it up wrong, a fuse has blown, or a bad ground?
  22. Alright thank you. Once I get time, if I get time while being at school now, Ill take a look at some of the wiring.
  23. Hello I've looked around and couldn't find anything addressing my problem. My interior lights don't work with my doors. If I put them in the position to go on and off with the doors they just stay on. They won't cut off. I had problems a couple months ago wth the connections. So I pulled them and cleaned them up and worked like they were supposed to with doors and all. After doing some floor pan work and put the interior back together. I encountered a problem. I know they worked with the doors before but something must be unplugged for the door jambs or something. Thanks in advanced
  24. It's the one that was made for the comanche http://comancheclub.com/topic/26324-comanche-rear-receiver-hitch-dfw-tx/
  25. I have class 3 hitch. It's a draw tite. Well I'm getting it soon. I know it fits really well with the stock bumper
