i had to replace my fuel pump in my 88 2.5 i also moved to a external tank in the bed instead of the one under it because it was rusting out anyway when i finished i had the fuel pump wired to a toggle switch just off my battery my real problem is that when i started it the truck ran fine but for some reason the volt gauge only read 12 volts so i tried with my multi meter and sure enough 12 volts so i replaced my alternator with a brand new one and i am still having the same problem

i had about a quarter of a tank i then added about a gallon i had in a can and about 500ft down the road my fuel gauge started to go up .. and up .. and up until it was pegged on full any ideas on where to start
I think the sensor in my MJ is meant for one with just the dummy light. The gauge does it's check at startup but doesn't move off of 100 while I'm driving.
I'm having trouble finding the right sender locally (the pictures in the autozone etc computers show a newer plastic connector). Any suggestions on where to get one locally? Or perhaps a part number I can relay to the guy at the parts counter?
89 MJ 4.0L 5spd
thats becuase the dummy light sender is just a simple on off switch where as the actual temp gauge sender has a temp controled resistance system inside
my 88 Comanche has no dash lights on anything, they did work at one point but for some reason now they don't, the fuse checked out visually but I replaced it anyway, could it be a hidden ground strap or something??? :dunno: :hmm:
