  2. whats the best cheep oil for the ax5 ?
  3. so i have my ax5 external slave mated to my new np231 and I'm ready to slap her in but i need to know how much to shorten my driveshaft how do i measure it ? or has someone done it before and remembers the numbers ? its a 88 2.5 sport truck originally a ax4 2wd and has a dana 35 rear end
  4. last time i was there they did not have anything with a np207 and that was last week does the chain only drive the front ? if so could i just remove it and run it like that till i get a new tcase ? i decided i want to go with the np231 when i finaly do the 4x4 swap
  5. i could but the chain in the tcase is way stretched
  6. so the only way to get the 4x4 ax5 to work is to do the full swap
  7. i need to know if i can put a 2wd output housing off my 2wd ax4 on my 4x4 ax5 i don't want to convert the whole truck to 4x4 just yet i have both transmissions out and they look identical the only issue i see is that the 2wd output shaft is way longer so how hard is it to swap output shafts? thanks btw the reason i am not doing a 4x4 swap yet is the tcase that was on the ax5 is shot and i don't have a good front end yet ... or the money for either part
  8. no syncros are all bad
  9. I had to replace my rear end a while ago, I shattered the pinion and didn't have enough money so I just used one from my non running 86 Cherokee with the 2.8 turd and ax5 to get me by for a while ....problem is I have a 4 speed and on the highway its turning around 3000 rpm at 55, I finally have enough cash, so my question is what gear ratio would be best to replace it with ... I am looking mostly for fuel economy ... any advice helps...thanks-chris
