  1. you gotta love fathers. if it werent for mine i wouldnt know anything about vechiles, hunting, camping, fishing, etc.
  2. well for axles I'm going to put dana44's front and back. ive got a tranny and transfercase out of a yj, np231, that already has the SYE so i will already have to get custom drive shafts made, and I'm thinking the 6-6.5 is probably my best bet. then ill just turn her into a flat deck, and take the saws-all to the front. well now that ive got the figuered out type to start planning the bed.
  3. it doesnt even have to be bad motor mounts for the exaust the bounce around, could be just a brocken bracket or i don't know about the rest of your guy's jeeps but the exaust itself rotting away. mines about 2/3 gone from rot. or even check the ujoints, just make sure theres no wear or that they are not lose.
  4. when it comes to lift kits, i don't know much. so ive been doing some research, well more like browsing and i can't find what I'm looking for. ive got an 88, and I'm looking for an 8 inch kit. I'm not brand loyal but i don't want a POS cheapo. if worse comes to worse ill just go with a 6.5 from RC or something but i would like to find an 8. or if anyone here has 35's tucked under their rig just let me know your set up. thanks--giffer
  5. sounds like a fuel to air problem to me, or just crappy gas. most other things i can think of would make it more consistent or at certain rpm's. but ive been known to be wrong once or twice.
  6. i did my YJ 2 years ago with a brush. wasnt happy with it at all! so i sprayed it agan last spring and i love it. fills in any little dings and dents. cost me around 200 once everything was said and done, and thats a couple of THICK coats. i tried painting the fenderflares after and i found that the paint didnt stick very well to the rockguard.
  7. new head and cam eh, just stock or what. details.
  8. I'm not 100% on this but ive been told the leafs in the back of the MJ are longer then the XJ, and thats why you can't use a XJ lift kit in the back.
  9. built a new rear bumper, 6x6 square tubing @ 1/4 thick, should hold up to a tree or 2. what else... new spark plugs, changed the oil and filter, changed the transmission fluid, air filter, tightned the valver covers and worked on the passanger door. the bloody thing will not open! i can't figure it out!
  10. thata a nice clean look jeep.love the flat balck and red. is the painting a home job?? if so looks great from what i can tell. now it looks like time for some war wounds, hahaha.
  11. WICKED MJ!! what size of lift do you have on there are where did you get it. I'm looking at putting some 35-37 on mine. that is one of the nicest comanches arounds.
  12. i heard a couple of weeks ago chrysler was in talks with renault/nissan over the sale of jeep. but then again you can never know for sure. and in my opinon they no longer make "jeep", they now make the chrysler patiot, commander, librety. but on that note i really like the pre 08 libretys.

hey everyone, new here. so my name is chris but everyone calls me giffer, and i live in didsbury alberta. i recently picked up and 88 MJ 2wd. she is in rough shape. anything that could rust, has rusted. but i love my jeeps and around here you don't see to many comanches. so my game plan with her is to pull it apart and pretty much start from the ground up. ive got a 91 yj that I'm goignt o strip most of the goodies out, which is probably pretty stupid on my part. I'm taking a wicked jeep that ive put some much time and money on and stripping it down to put some parts into the 100 dollar mj. oh well. by the time I'm done I'm hoping 8" of lift, dana 44 front and back, 350 conversion, and 100% rockguarded ( my YJ been done 100%, inside outside and underneath ). and i figured this should be a great place to find out as much as i can from MJ people.
