Thanks for the replies, and it may be blasphemy but the 327 in question is supposed to be a 1963 out of a corvette I have not verified that yet. The engine sounds very good and is allready installed in a 55 cj-5. And I am old enough to remember the amc 327Vigalante ,if I was restoring this MJ I would keep it 2wd and the 5spd that was in it. However it is being converted to 4wd I already have a set of axles with 410s almost ready to install . I am waiting on new control arm bushings and the front axle is ready, the rear is going to be a spring over so as soon as I get the spring pads relocated it will also be ready. At this point there is a couple of options I just thought it might be fun to do something different. :wrench:

Today I plan on removeing the 5spd ,bell housing ,clutch assy.and flywheel on the MJ , then its a lot of cleaning and I will probably replace rear main since its down that far. I found a 87 XJ with an auto and 231 to swap over ,have already pulled wiring harness for trans out of the xj and will begin that removal next, my friend has a matched set of 410s out of an 86 { no vaccum disconnect} he said I could have for this project the front is a d30 and the rear is a d35, I know its a lot of work to make the d35 fit but the price is right and they are in good shape. The spring over takes care of the lift in the rear, and the spring pads needs to be moved for the MJ anyways . Here goes wish me luck

Thats the cleanest engine I have never seen!!!!!!!!! :huh???:

Thanks for the offer for the vaccum lines but I was able to raid a junk yard and find a fuel tank with a working pump as well as most of the missing caps and lines, I installed them all last weekend and the motor fired up and ran pretty good ,

I live in Lake Havasu,Arizona the jeep has been in Az.for the last 10 years or so , that explanes the lack of rust. As far as the XJ axles thanks for the tip I will definately check before assembly begins.

The previous owner had started to install a lift , changed his mind and pulled all the parts .He didnt bother to put in center bolts or even line up the spring leafs,he just pinched it together with the u bolts and halfassed bolted the front end back under the truck before he had it towed.I lucked out and my friend was the driver that picked it up,I bought from his boss as it sets.I was not worried about the springs or the front axle because I am going to change it to a spring over in the rear with XJ axle a spare set of MJ springs, yea I noticed but thanks for the reply

Hello everyone my name is Terry and here is some pics of my 87 Comanche it has a 4.0 and 5spd and its just 2wd however I have other plans in mind, hopefully it will soon have an aw4 with a 231T/C AND 410 axles under it. This weekend I was able to get it running after changing the gas tank, sending unit and pump and replacing all off the vaccum lines and fittings, the motor sounds pretty good now I can begin other changes. Here is the link for pics http://www.PictureTrail.com/gid21102576 let me know what you think Thanks
