  1. I hated my lightish blue color on the MJ I first got it, was considering even painting it black. Now, I take pride in having a vehicle that people can notice coming from a mile away (unluckily I might have to sell it soon).

    asking price?

Hey guys, I am currently thinking about selling the comanche next summer. I would hate to part with it, but I just pour so much money into it, and I'm going to be living off campus and will be in need of a vehicle with a bit better gas mileage. The only problem is I know that my dad won't let me part with it unless I get the best price possible. So I was just going to try and get an idea of what all you comanche gurus think I could get from it. So here it is: For semi-recent pics here's a post: http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1238 -89 Short Bed -4.0 I6 -AX-15 -Stock Axles -Brand New BFG AT 31x10.5's -2" spring spacers up front, sits very level as rear has not sagged at all. -Recent paint job with original blue paint -Nice looking grille guard. -Line-X in bed, over the rails. -Fabbed Rollbar with bosch halogen fog lights -Cragar steel wheels in great condition. -High performance K&N cone air filter -Thrush turbo muffler -Bucket seat conversion with black covers. -PREMIUM sound system worth over $1000. Will probably keep subs and amp, but would be willing to sell box if buyer wanted. -Lots of cosmetic interior work. Overall, the truck is in great condition as its my pride and joy. I have yet to see a comanche with an interior as clean as this one. The engine is still running really strong at 120k. Had the rear main seal and oil pan seal replaced recently. Only true problem with this truck is a little bit of death wobble. But its something that someone who had a little time could fix, I am just to swamped here at school to worry about it, as its very minor to begin with. Let me know what you guys think I could get for her. Thanks in advance, Tim
  3. something like that happened around here not too long ago, over the summer I think. Except this guy was mentally retarted, and he was actually killed by some loser. Its pretty sad what people will do.
  4. This is a pretty open question but I couldnt really find any information on it so here goes. I was just looking around the other day, found a site about switching to a 2000 intake manifold and injectors and getting 15hp out of it. Everything looked pretty simple, but I didnt know if there are huge differences between the 91 he had and my 89 that would make this modification hard or expensive. It looked like the 2000 manifold has a different TB then my 89, and I wasnt sure if that would be something really hard to switch over. So pretty much, in your general opinion, how hard would this be for me to do? I figured if it was so easy more people would have done it, but you never know. here's the link to the site about it. http://gojeep.willyshotrod.com/HowtoIntakeManifold1.htm It might have been that it was at 2:00 in the morning that I was looking at this, but I felt stupid, because I really had no idea what he was talking about. Thanks in advance, Tim
  5. Ill take a 12" when they are available. Tim
  6. 89 comanche, as to the stock springs in the back, I know its amazing. The comanche has only like 118k miles on it, but its still surprising that they have not sagged barely at all. As for the color, I used to think it was ghey. That was when I was younger, and it was completely stock. Now, I wouldnt change it for the world. If anyone can say they have a truck that looks completely like mine, Id give them a darn big cookie, because I just don't think its very likely. I like my comanche being unique. :D
  7. Hope I'm not noting something that everyone has already seen, just thought it was funny. Watch this video, about 50 seconds into it a familiar(yet unfamiliar) face comes into the scene. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 109&q=jeep Tim
  8. Well, I'm finished with everything I really wanted to get done on the Comanche so far before I head off to college next year. The list goes like this. 1. Bucket Seats in (thanks to Jeff). Had to fab up my own brackets though as the seats just plain would not line up with my original brackets. 2. New subwoofer box completed. They are 2 12" MTX Roadthunder 5500 powered by a bazooka 750 watt amp. Its loud enough that if you turned it up all the way in the cab I believe your head might explode. After the theft of my previous system, these babies are NOT coming out of there. Bolted through the bottom of the cab, and everything else is with antitheft screws. 3. Also put some new speakers in the doors and back. For pretty cheap too (gotta love Ebay) 4. Put some 1.75" coil spacers up front, to level it up. And yes, it DOES look good on this comanche. My leaf springs have had amazingly little sag over the years and it leveled it up perfectly in my opinion, canteven tell that something was done to the front and not the back. Also painted the shocks blue to go with the truck while I was in there. 5. Just had some new 31x10.50 BFG all terrains put under there. Love the tires, hate the fact that they did an alignment and now the truck wants to drive off to the right. 6. Put a grille guard on there too, I think it makes it look a lot nicer. Only thing left to do now is make a spare tire mount for the bed. here's some pics, hope you enjoy: Tim
  9. Thanks for the info. So I guess that for the rear I just need to look for any gears from a Dana 35, and year/model? And for the front, I just need hi-pinion reverse rotation from a Dana 30? Would this be a good matchup for the front? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DANA-30- ... 4975QQrdZ1 Thanks, Tim
  10. I just found a ring and pinion set on ebay for dana 30 and 35, which is what I have, 4.10 which is what I want. They are coming out of a 2004 TJ, will they work in my 89 comanche? If not, what year/model gears will fit? Thanks in advance, Tim P.S. Pics will be coming soon of the comanche with new sound system, BB, grille guard, etc.
  11. What exactly do you mean by 1/4" out. I found these on ebay and if these are what I want then Ill just go with them. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 4625396387 Thanks, Tim
  12. I had never though of fabbing my own shackles... is it really safe to weld it all up yourself though? I don't know how strong they need to be, but if that really is safe it would be a whole lot cheaper to do than anything else I could think of. I have also heard that putting longer shackles on will make the springs sag. Is this true to a point that it would make the shackle useless? I would like 1" to 1.5" more room in the back, so the longest I would go is 8" total. Would this height be safe with making my own shackles, and would this make the springs sag badly? Tim
  13. Alright well my next little project with the comanche is going to be a budget boost. I'm planning on getting 2" spacers up front from RE and some long XJ shackles for an inch or less lift in the rear. Are there any shackles to stay away from? I was looking at some from Suspension Connection, because it looks like they have pretty good deals on shackles. What is the difference between just shackles and greasable shackles? I have had very little mechanical experience, but am pretty good at doing something once I have read or been shown how, I just havent been able to really find anything on installing rear shackles. It seems as if installing front spacers is pretty simple, but I would just like a little bit of information regarding rear shackle install before I go and do something stupid. Any installation hints would be helpful, as this will be my first work at all with suspension. Thanks in advance, Tim
  14. I have been having just a little problem with the comanche for a while now, and its getting to the point that I just want to get rid of it for good. When I am turning just slightly to the right, and this ONLY happens to the right, my front wheels will start to wobble, sometimes badly. This happens usually at medium speeds, meaning it won't do it going slowly or above about 50. It only does it when the steering wheel is turned probably about 15*-30* to the right of center, so its easy enough to stop it when it happens. It doesnt do it ALL the time, but if I wanted it to do it it would be pretty easy to get it to. This happened when my dad had the truck a while back, and he took it to a local tire shop and they said it was a bad steering stabilizer. They replaced it and the problem went away for quite a while, but now its back. With my 31" tires what I have read makes me think that it is the steering stabilizer and that I need to replace it with a stronger one, but I just wanted to make sure that this is the most likely cause before I spend much money on one. Thanks in advance, Tim
  15. Quick question for anyone with these seats, I meant to ask this earlier but forgot. How far forward will the seats lean? I went to one local yard and looked at the only seats they had, but they only leaned forward about 6 inches, and it seemed to me like that was just the personal adjustment, not even enough to get into the back seats. Is there anything special that I was too stupid to figure out that would make them lean forward all the way, or were these seats probably not original? Thanks in advance, Tim
  16. Thanks a lot for the invitation this weekend, unluckily I am too busy to have the time for a road trip. I am looking for seats a lot like the ones that cwlongshot recently put in his comanche. If you would look at what they have I would greatly appreciate it. Just let me know before this weekend if you are definetely going, and Ill keep in touch about it. Again, Thank you, Tim
  17. This may be a question without any real good answers, but I figure Ill go ahead and ask it anyway. Any advice on FINDING seats from a 2 door? Every junkyard Ive called has plenty of 4 doors to go around, but 2 doors seem to come alone pretty rarely. I was happy yesterday when I called a local yard and they said they had a couple 2 doors in, only to find that tey were lying and there wasnt a single one. Any advice would be helpful, as I am really hoping to do this swap before I redo my stereo system, on account of Id like to know how much room I will have to deal with. Thanks in advance, Tim
  18. I am planning to do this swap myself in the next couple weeks. My only question is, about how long will this process take, and why does nothing need to be changed in order to make the tach work? Thanks in advance, Tim
  19. Well it sounds like there is really no good reason to not go ahead and do this. Sounds like Ill be going with sport ones from a 2 door. My final question about this top is to CW Longshot: Was the install of the rocking/sliding seats any more difficult than it would be with just regular ones, or was it the same old cut out the rivets and bolt it up deal? Thanks in advance, Tim
  20. In reference to the being closer to the ceiling, its one of my few advantages of being short. I'm only 5'7" so I won't have any problems with that. Looks like Ill just go ahead and put the seats in and then see what I can fit after that. Anyone noticed a difference after putting buckets in AFTER having a bench?? Tim
  21. Ive posted this question in a thread on another forum, but I thought that maybe since this a much more specific thread I might get a better answer to my question. I am thinking about doing a swap from bench seat to XJ buckets, and my main question is about the room. Will there be less or more room behind the seat with the swap? I have subs that don't have much room behind the seat, and I didn't know if I would need to make a new box to fit behind the seat if I did the swap to buckets. Also, is there any year seats that will look the best and also be easy to swap in? Ive seen some really nice seats, then Ive also seen some seats that I wouldnt want to swap in for my bench. Thanks in advance, Tim
