  1. Thanks everyone for the information.
  2. I ended up taking the one out of my daily driver last night but now I need one for it. I didn't think it would fit because the brakes and knuckles are completely different. I tried swapping a wheel bearing out of a early 90 xj and it had a different wheel bearing and stub shaft length :hmm: Should I upgrade both sides to CV style? I like the sealed aspect but is it worth losing the simplicity of the U-joint?
  3. Hate to make a new topic to ask this but: What year XJ, MJ or TJ have the same drivers side axle shaft and stub shaft as an 89 comanche? Very much appreciated if you guys can help me out with this before the long weekend.
  4. anyways, a long long time ago i fixed this with the new harmonic balancer. used a puller kit and had enough room without moving the radiator! it took 30 minutes. but you guys are right, there isn't any adjustment to the water pump pulley other than maybe some shims or washers but none was necessary. i de-burred the flanges and I haven't had a problem since!
  5. so either a dog or two girls can sit in the cab with me. i've got knee and back problems so what ever i put in has to raised about 4 inches. i might as well get what ever is cheap and accessible if i'm just going to be welding it in. i'm in canada remember!
  6. they aren't common, they bolt up to the currently busted and bent studs in my floor, and they are small and have a gap in the center.
  7. does anyone know what bench seats will fit in the MJ? i want something with a thin back, like a toyota but full width from door to door. i'm going to weld it in so it just has to fit inside. i tried an old ram 150 but it was 4 inches too wide.
  8. hey, i'm looking for a thread i found a while ago, that listed everything that was swappable from xj and other vehicles that is an upgrade to the mj. i know i saw zj coils and some control arms from something else. anyone know the thread i'm talking about?
  9. i got a new water pump about a year ago but my friend reused my pulley and its got some dings in it so i fixed them all up but should probably adjust it when the rest of the pulleys are accounted for.
  10. lol today i looked again at it and touched the pulley and realized there was rubber between it and thought: well theres my problem. thanks! going to order one asap. hopefully it isn't 50 bucks though..
  11. Is it common for the crank pulley to come out of line with the rest of the pulleys? My 4l will force the belt off the main pulley within the first revolution every time. And it doesn't take long after that to chew it up (10 mins) so after making sure all my pulleys were smooth and spinning straight, it looks a lot like the main is slowly creeping forwards away from the motor.
  12. 11l/100km or 21mpg 4.0 5spd renix
  13. o ya. is my tire size going to affect the odometer? i thought 235/75 was stock.
  14. :Canadaflag: :chillin:
  15. is this common knowledge?
  16. how do you guys calculate the exact amount of gas your using? when i fill up i can drive for a while before the guage starts to move, and when its reading empty, i can usually drive for a while still so i don't know exactly what the fuel capacity is. it seems between 70 and 80 litres. and i have 235/75s and thats not whats listed in my door, does that mean my speedo is off?
  17. so i ordered a block heater at work from lordco i think, and it was a cheap looking pile of $#!& that had the worst screw for tightening it in. i punched out my frost plug, drivers side closest to the front. punched it through by accident but grabed it with pliers. noticed there was a serious edge going on halfway into the hole where the frost plug must have been pressed in slightly crookedly or maybe it was pusehed out slightly doing its job. either way this caused the suplied oring to break and leak like a mother @#$%er. the screw needed a socket that also has a flathead built in and i didn't even know such a thing exsisted. none the less the screw stripped out on the second go, and i've had no leaks with the new o ring so i'm going to leave it. beacuse i didn't know if the new o ring would seal, i put water in so that i wouldn't waste any more coolant. i didn't have time to put in coolant so i had to leave the truck for a few days with the water in and snow on the ground. the block heater did its thing and kept my engine about 40 to 45 degrees judging by my water temp guage. i havn't noticed it help starting yet but it does make my defrost kick in immediately instead of after i've gotten to work. i routed it down one of the O2 sensor cables, to the spedo cable and then the frame, and then by my inactive t-case linkage, and up through the floor at the shifter and under the console by my feet so i can get in, fire up, unplug and throw the extension out the door.
  18. ahh got ya. well they were closed so good thing i know now otherwise i would have done all that work for nothing. thanks!
  19. what do you mean by the body mount peice and linkages? i'm using the exact same transfer case, the only difference to me is that the braket that the transmission provides are different. if the junkyard is open tomorow i will have two cherokees to choose parts from. they are mint other than they have almost 400k km. mint interiors though. i would love to grab the carpet out of one so i can fix the holes in my floor.
  20. They didn't line up.
  21. I think I've figures out how it got that way. There's a good dent in my bumper on the drivers corner, so I must have bent it slightly going into a tree, rock, or ditch. Then when I was messing around in the air it got way out of line and pinned my coil to the frame. I'm also suspecting it has to do with the fact that the drivers corner was rebuilt. The previous owner hit a highway bridge support pole at 60km/h only 6 months after driving off the lot back in 89. He said it was repaired at the dealer.
  22. Ya my friend thinks you only need it when your car won't start but I was thinking it would help start up as soon as it gets near freezing temps. Especially with a 20 year old engine. $#!&, it would probably help as soon as the coolant temp drops below the temp of the heater core. I'm getting one seeing how it's -15 when I go turn the key after work.
  23. It's just an extension. I used the tranny mount from the ax15 off a 90 xj. I have a pic of the other side but it's on my computer. Might be a couple days because I'm headed to the pick a part.
  24. Did a search, and did not find exactly what I was looking for. So here it is: At what temperature should a block heater be used. I've never had my truck not start because it was too cold but it deffinitly struggles as soon as winter hits. I want to keep my Jeep happy.
