Ok so my steering is till acting up even after replacing the hoses and what not. Yesterday I was driving and my steering locked up to the left and I almost ran thru a construction gate. I had to reverse to loosen up the steering agian to get it back home. I checked everything under and seems to be tight to me. On top of this my steering is crazy loose after the box swap. I looked into tightening the bolt with the allen wrench but any other suggestions would be great. The only way to discribe it is it feels like I'm constantly trying to keep my balance on the road. Correcting over correcting etc etc.

I bought the OR Fab inner bracket. It spaces the gearbox out. Funny story about that, my wife was helping me put it in and ended up dropping the thick arse metal bracket right onto my face while I was holding the steering box up...... I'm taking the jeep out on another test run today see if its gotten any better

Thats what I'm thinking. I tried to bleed the lines for damn near 20 minutes yesterday but now I'm starting to worry the box is bad.

Fluids are good and pump is brand new. So is the pulley.

Anyone know why I would be losing power steering at low RPMs? I put in a new durango steering box and now I'm losing my steering. Thanks again.

My First Mj.... What To Do What To Do

Replaced the underhood light today with an LED. The thing is out of control bright. Also installed a new self amplified PA speaker. Can't get my CB to tune right though. -
My First Mj.... What To Do What To Do

I used a lock from a new model XJ, took the twist plate (not sure what its called) and grinded it down until it fit flush on the new lock cylinder. After I got it grinded down enough I put the retaining clip (with a little bit of force) on the back of the twist plate. The lock cylinder is a little small but it fits. When I can find some rubber gasket material ill put a backing on it. Anyway after I got it all back in I took the ignition key and the lock cylinders into a locksmith and had them rekey it. -

Ok just updating to keep track for myself. Durango steering box installed (sucks its the 3 turning to lock but I'll make it work) CROK steering brace 1996 XJ power brake booster just arrived Ordered a THOR cowl intake Ordered 1997-2001 washer fluid bottle to free up space 136a alternator hopefully will be installed today I'm sure there are more things but I can't think of it. -
I don't really care about the arrow as long as all the gauges, turn signals and the important stuff works.

Just a question. There are a bunch of vacuum hoses going into the air box. Two tiny ones, one that goes all the way back behind the washer fluid and into the firewall plus a couple more I'm sure I'm not thinking of. What did you guys do with all these when you put in aftermarket intake to free up space? I ordered a THOR cowl intake and don't want to screw up my engine. Thanks

I have an ax15. Don't care what the mileage reads I know how to adjust it. Full gauges with tach would be perfect.

Headlight Wiring Harness Questions
SBpunk replied to SBpunk's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I read it before posting Cruiser just got confused when I looked at the actual harness. I was under the impression it was a complete replacement. Once I figured out that one of the headlight plugs on the old harness just arent used it clicked. Too bad it didnt happen before i pulled the entire fkn harness lol -

Ok just to make sure I'm reading this right because it doesnt look right when I stare at the harness. Feed new harness in passenger side Plug in new harness MALE 3 prong into old harness passenger side headlight connection Plug driver side and passenger side new harness headlight connections into light housing Leave OLD driver side headlight connection dangling somewheres? -
Ok maybe I'm a moron or I bought the wrong harness. Got a putco harness and thought it would be a quick and easy upgrade. Not so much. Anyone explain this to me in dummy steps? I already have my entire harness out but I'm not seeing how any of this matches up. Figured this would be what I unplugged but yeah not even close to matching And here is the harness

Looking for a working set of gauges for a 88-90 including RPM gauge. Don't care if its out of a cherokee or comanche. Please shoot me pics before hand of the front and back so I can make sure its the right year. Kind of desperate. My gauges are crap and the new ones I bought don't work. Shipping to 9818 and I'll cover the charge of course. Thanks

If you want a 136 here's a good link http://www.cherokeeforum.com/f51/zj-136a-alternator-into-4-0-renix-xj-109847/

Ill see if I can find another cluster and try it out. Thanks guys I'll post up if it works if I can find one

Forgot to mention I forgot to unplug the battery. I checked thru the fuses and everything is good near the kicker panel.
-
Oh sorry the plugs on the back can only go in one way since the size of the top and bottem connectors are different. I'm sure someone could hammer them in but it would take some work lol.
-
Sensors were swapped. Ive been looking thru the service manual and it looks like the wiring is different for the clusters. The speedo is working just fine. I hooked up the old gauges and the hazards worked fine. I was really hoping this wouldve been a plug and play but no such luck.
