So I've been MJless for a while and got the itch. There is a 1990 for sale 2wd shortbox auto bucket seats with little rust for 2500$ around here. Seems steep to me but the guy won't budge. Would love to get suggestions on that first. My question is since it has an AW4 already will I need a new harness or just be able to pull the trans, transfercase, front axle, driveline and shifter from a donor vehicle?

Looking for an 1988+ MJ 4.0 Auto near Oklahoma. Less rust the better. Shoot me pics and price larry.harris1984@gmail.com

Yeah I did a little research and decided against it. My fab skills aren't that great. Looks like I'm. Continue to wait for an auto comanche lol. Thanks again.

Hello everyone its been awhile. Got caught up in the JKU phase but now that I'm over it I'm searching for another MJ. There is one within driving distance from where I live but its a 1986 with the 2.8 motor. Its an automatic with column shift and not sure on the axles. Anyways I had a few questions. 1. Is the column shift going to interfere with swapping in an AW4 floor shift trans? 2. I'm assuming if I grab a 98 XJ I can swap in everything motor and driveline wise with the exception of the rear drive shaft? The output shaft on that late of a model AW4 should be a differnt size right? 3: Will the transfercase (not even sure which one it is) bolt up to a newer AW4? Just asking incase I grab a 2wd XJ for parts. Or were the transmissions different in 2wd than 4wd? I'm sure I'll have more questions but I'm just trying to see if its worth the 3 hour drive to go look at it. Thanks

Looking for a H.O. automatic MJ in the midwest area. Must be able to drive back from where ever since it'll be my daily driver for a short time. The less rust the better. I'm still not anywhere close to decent with a welder. Things that would be nice but arent deal breakers Dana 44 rear end Bucket seats Non column shift Solid rear main seal (as in not gushing oil) Shoot me a message or email at larry.harris1984 @ gmail . com

SBpunk replied to SBpunk's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm getting ready to drop in a aftermarket intake and I was hoping I could ditch that whole plastic piece. It annoys me but oh well. I do need to find the grommet piece for the rear valve cover. -
Cluster Copper Contact Strip Repair?
SBpunk replied to SBpunk's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The copper contacts on the left blinker is shot. Not a big deal was hoping there was a paint type fix for it. Not worth replacing the whole back for though. Everything else works great! Even got the shift light working. -
Is there a good way to fix the copper contact strips on the back of the gauge clusters? Mine are pretty worn out and some of the lights arent working. Thanks

So I put in some JKS quicker releases and holy crap what a difference from no sway bar. Its helped a lot. Still not great but I don't feel like I'm going to swerve into oncoming traffic anymore

Idle, Speedo, And Dash Lights
SBpunk replied to mpace6a's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If its like mine the ground is connected to the e-brkae pedal assembly thing. You check the fuses right? And redline should be around 7k rpm -
Already read up on it. Was planning on giving it a shot until my steering locked up while I was driving. Now I'm a little worries to tinker with the guts of it. One thing doesn't go in right it could cause some issues.

Ok so I moved the stabilizer and it seemed it help. Yes my bump steer is pretty horrible. I ordered some JkS quicker releases hopefully it helps. The durango boxes vary from either 3 turns lock to lock or 3.5. Just have to get lucky. I didn't get lucky lol. I centered it so I get even turns to both sides but there's a lot of room before my tires start rubbing so I'm on the search for a better box. Amy suggestions for the pitman arm? Would love to tighten this steering up as much as possible. Not fun feeling like I'm going to get pulled over for a DUI all the time.

I havent touched the worm gear. I'm glad you said something because I planned on doing it today before work. I'll look into how to burp the system. When I installed it I just rotated the wheel lock to lock 40ish times. Did it when the vehicle was running so I think I'll try to jack the front end up and repeat it with it shut off. I'll double check the steering box placement too. If it helps me stay in a lane or not smash into something a little better than I'll spend the extra 20 min double checking no prob. I'm not a fan of this durango upgrade at all. The lose in turning radius isn't really worth the benefits especially when you drive it every day. I'll probably drop an XJ box into it soon unless I can find something with a similar turn. mvusse I'm not sure what steering setup he put in there before I bought it. The bar is thicker than I've seen. I'll see if I can find a pic. Kind of an older pic but gives a pretty good idea of the mess down there.
