Is there different teeth for different years of trannys? Am I going to have any trouble mating an 87 or newer cable to my 86?

Where is the other end of the cable? One end connects to the cluster and the other connects to the ????????????? I looked into my haines repair and it dosent say ****!

Yea keeping my foot off the gas is a lil hard with the focus, 2.0 dual overhead cam, iceman intake, polyurathane engine mounts, 5 speed with a limited slip diff, bigger cams, svt focus header, etc... I get some crap from the focus club that I'm part of because the car was built in mexico for ford and I have euro headlites on it too. :roll:

What is it? I went to the dealer yesterday to order a new 5 speed gear knob, and I was shocked that you can still get one. But anyway I also asked If there was any recalls that havent been done on mine and this one came up.

So maybe I should get the cluster from the wrecking yard and then go to autozone to get a non cruise cable for the spedo for that year cluster. I thought it would be easier to get both at the same time. Thanks for your help.

On your 5-speed? Your signature says it's an '86. That should have a mechanical speedometer -- there isn't any wire. I'm sorry, need more info. I have found a 89 xj limited at the local wrecking yard and I was wondering if the spedo cable out of IT, that has an auto, would work, so I can upgrade the spedo wire and gauge cluster to work on my 5 speed. Because trying to find 84 to 86 xj is a lil difficult out here in non snow land. mike
