  1. Kind of taking over the post for my dad. after spending countless hours tracing wires and troubleshooting the ignition system we have decided to convert to a carb and a simpler ignition system. Yes I know it's going "backwards" but we need to get this truck running and driving. Its only temporary until we swap in a 4.0. We got the truck cleaned up, pained the grill, headlight trim, and cab vents with bedliner. Got the rearend put back together with all new brakes and bearings and seals. We put the wheels and tires off my YJ on it since I took the mud terrains off my parts truck for it, and we put the roll bar from my parts truck in it. Just waiting on a couple more parts before this thing should be up and running. Shortly after we got it home And now its all cleaned up waiting for parts to make her come to life again.
  2. Also got my new 97-01 mirrors installed and i couldnt be happier.
  3. Finally started my 4x4 swap. and my stroker build. Pulled the engine and trans out of my donor, got the trans cleaned up, and installed into my truck, and got my motor stripped down and sent to HESCO to be prepped. Didnt realize how bad the 2wd trans in my truck was until i put the 4x4 trans in and all the whining went away and the clutch pedal feels better and it shifts so much smoother. Still want to ditch the ba10 for an ax15 for nv3550 but it will work for now. still need to get the front diff out of the donor, and order my 1piece axle shaft to delete the CAD. But I'm finally making progress. My truck has never ran and driven so well. In the garage getting ready for a new trans. Donor Truck Engine and Trans Out of the Donor Truck 4x4 Trans Transfercase Cleaned up ready to be installed Old 2wd boat anchor out Motor all torn down ready to go to HESCO for machining. Every single rod bearing was spun. Still got a long way to go. need to figure out floor pans because my driverside is almost completely gone and eats starting to eat the tunnel so I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to install the brackets for the t case linkages. Only 6 more months left in japan then back to the states and i can work on her a whole lot more.
  4. managed to get me a set of skyjacker 2" lift springs from a buddy for $60. Looks like i gotta buy longer shocks, and fedex damaged my trans so I'm back at a standstill.
  5. Well here it is 2 years later. Finally got to spend some time at home for Christmas and work on my projects a little. Apparently my misfire that ive had in the beast was because the distributor was never installed properly, and the clamp loosened up and it kept jumping. Got the distributor reset, and indexed properly and its never run so well. Next project is to part out the 88 4x4 i bought and use the 4x4 parts for the conversion on "the beast". Feels good to be back to working on my jeeps. up to 3 comanches, a wj and a yj.
  6. what should my voltage be?
  7. cps is good. still no spark. fuel pump comes on and i know the injector is firing because i keep getting fuel in the oil. but i have no voltage out of pin 27 at the computer which is ignition output. I also have no voltage on pin 6 which is input from the fuel pump relay. I know the relay is good because the pump comes on. so what is the voltage supposed to be from the fuel pump relay to the computer, and is there any connection or component between the relay and the computer? Where does the relay get its ground from?
  8. what tells the computer to send voltage to the coil for spark?
  9. id like to get a hard top and a set of half doors. A friend of mine happened to have the leaf spring i needed and said i could have it to get me on the road in the short term. I need to do more research on the trans. i found a couple but one is out of a 2001 tj so idk if it will work. Ill be in the states for a month on leave here in about 2 weeks. should have it on the road after a days worth of work if i have all the right parts waiting for me when i get there. I can't wait.

  13. Welp the addiction got to me again. my whole life I've always wanted a jeep wrangler, and always loved the YJ's. I finally got my wish. A friend from high school texted me and asked if i knew anyone interested in her old jeep. 95 wrangler, 4cyl, auto, rusty and the trans is shot. $700. Since I'm stationed in japan for another 9 months I called my mom and her go get it for me. Needs alot of love but its going to be a fun build. i want to keep the 2.5L. I also want to swap it to a 5 speed but i think the wife is going to steal it from me so probably going to be stuck with an auto until i can convince her otherwise which may be a while. Radio has been stolen but has $600 worth of new wheels and tires on it so i don't think I'm off to a bad start.

  15. Couldnt afford a twin turbo and i don't like the r32. An r32 gtst is going for about 7grand here gtr 15grand. Tt 300zx 6-8 grand. And quite frankly the skylines don't handle half as well as the 300

  18. okay i figured pictures out so here we go. the day i got her first set of wheels had to get a new clutch Mountain drives with the crew $2600 coilovers i picked up for $450 out with the old in with the new lowered rebuilt some calipers my buddy gave me and painted them blue. r33 gtr wheels painted grey mettallic with my z center caps new wheels and tires mounted on the car power stop z26 brakes from summit racing old new
  19. Got something a little different for everyone. about a year ago i got stationed in tokyo japan so the mj has been on hold sitting in my dads driveway. I picked up a 91 300zx 2 seater non turbo 5 speed. this is a whole new world for me because I'm used to trucks and jeeps and muscle cars. bought the car bone stock with 84xxx km which is about 52xxxish miles. put a set of cusco coilovers on it and lowered it about 2.5 inches, got a set of r33 gtr wheels 17x9 and I'm running 245/40r17s in the front and 275/40r17s in the rear. got some more things i wanna do to it once i get back stateside with it in 10 months but i can't wait to get home to my mj and start working on her again. Ill post pictures as soon as i remember how. i thought i could use photobucket but its not working

  21. I just picked up am 87 4cyl 5 speed and it has no spark. Ive tried replacing the coil, the icm, the cps, and the ecu. I still have no spark. Anyone have and ideas?

  23. what shocks are you running? I'm planning on running the same spring set up with some heavier off road, greaseable shackles, they arent lift shackles but that claim to give .5"-1"
  24. You still running the mt leaves and variable rate coils or have you add a lift on top of that?
  25. Looking for a good running 4.0 for my 88 mj. HO motors are fine, i have a core with all the parts to swap in an HO. Looking around the birmingham alabama area. need to get the truck back on the road and already got screwed on one bad motor. let me know what you got.
