this i just can't comprehend? explain. The 4.5" Rear Leaf Spring Packs themselves (at least from other vendors) with NO other Lift Parts of any kind are $300-$375... So Rustys was charging $700 for the whole kit with the "Spring Pack", meaning the cost of the Leaf Pack constituted (at least in theory) nearly 50% of the total price of the lift they were asking. http://motionoffroad.com/catalog/index. ... cts_id=108 http://www.hellcreeksuspensions.com/jeep.htm so its good or bad that the leafs are worth 50% of the kit?

wow. thanks for those links, apparantly no one likes rustys.. just answer me this question. for the rustys spring pack kit where it says 2 rear 4.5 spring packs. is that, or is it not new leafs? I'm almost definately going to save for a Motion lift now.
-
so with a spring over axel kit, I'm worried about the back being to high, and with the 4.5" spring pack kit, I'm worried about it sagging in the rear. if the back were to be to high could i just get some front coild spacers like this: http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchant.m ... Code=COILS and if the back were to sag on the other kit could i regain the hieght by adding some shims? http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchant.m ... _Code=LEAF or extended shackles? http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchant.m ... _Code=LEAF and i still need to know, in the 4.5" spring pack kit, that comes with 4.5" leafs?
-
thanks man! it was strange when i emailed them and never got an answer.
-
so where it says 2 rear mj spring packs, that is leafs? or no? I'm still deciding on whether or not i should wait until i can afford one of the ones from motion offroad. i have lots of other things to do; either patch or replace the gas tank, lots of new hoses under the hood, exhaust system, patch rust spots, and more. i am just splitting my money into two categories: need to fix pronto, and lift/tires/rims/fenderflares/locker/bumper. i already saved up enough to fix all my needed to fix problems, and am trying to figure out where i should start on the lift.
-
i get your point. although this rough country lift is cheaper, you still prefer it over the two rustys ones?
-
OR you guys can suggest a lift kit 4.5"-5" no more expensive then 700$

god almighty! i need something simple so ive been looking at these three kits. rustys 4.5" SOA kit: http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchant.m ... sus_xj_kit -which i almost fully understand! but looks to be unlevel -cheaper then rustys spring pack kit rustys 4.5" Spring Pack: kit http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchant.m ... sus_xj_kit -says something about rear MJ springs? so what now about leafs??? -slightly more expensive. Rocky road 5" SOA kit - i understand, but doesnt come with control arms/drop kit, or transfer case drop kit. looks to be unlevel as well -same price as first lift kit. but without two of the necessary items. right now i definately like that the rustys kits come with everything needed! i just don't know which would be better. i want the truck to look level. like this: not this: it does not say which 4.5 lift the first comanche has, but i know its a 4.5". it does say the second one is SOA 4.5" so I'm leaning away from SOA now. all i need is for some one to explain what they are doing in the rear of the rustys 4.5" Spring pack kit! thanks for putting up wth all my confusion. I'm mainly anxious to have it lifted finally. and want to do it by one of these kits because i wouldnt know how to by buying individual parts.

33's and i will be doing mostly mud and trails type stuff. i was just talkin to my freinds dad and he has two jeeps and likes the idea of a 5" with 33's.
-
so now i have the feeling i should lean away from the 5" rusty road lift and do a 4.5 regualr lift without soa? so confused! posting links would help me the best.
-
haha thanks man! i didnt realize how laid back this site is. most forums I'm on people get rude if you ask too many questions.
-
okay to start things off, my comanche does not sit level. the front is lower and the rear is pretty high. the closest comanche i could find level wise looks like this: now in the next couple weeks i will be putting on the rocky road 5" lift with the SOA in the rear, but i DO NOT want the truck to be un-level like it currently is. will the new lift level it out, or will i need to do something to bring it level? if anything i would want to lower the rear end to solve the problem rather then raise the front. i don't want the lift to tire ratio to look goofy. sorry for all the questions lately. still new to all this and i trust you guys know your stuff. i have much to learn.

fender flares like these? i presume these are stock right? when i bought my comanche, there were no fender flares so i have to buy some. Image Not Found

f1tbiker6 replied to f1tbiker6's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Adjustable control arms, upper and lower. That way you can change em around as you change the height of your lift. X2 on the buy quality parts. i know this soundsa silly, but i actually don't intend to go higher then 5 inches at least not until I'm out of college and thats a LONG ways away. i read that i really only need upper control arms for a 5 inch lift, for what reason would you say the lower ones are beneficial? -

last question! pro and cons on a control arm drop kit? should i just get longer arms? -
can some one explain backspacing?
f1tbiker6 replied to f1tbiker6's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
thank you. you made my day. I'm ordering my lift this week and my rims an tires in the next few weeks. i don't know what order of things i will buy next but i still will need some control arms, lockers, fender flares, and eventually a new exhaust system. I'm ust happy that I'm finally building up my jeep. slowly... -
can some one explain backspacing?
f1tbiker6 replied to f1tbiker6's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs

can some one explain backspacing?
f1tbiker6 replied to f1tbiker6's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
alright thankyou sir. so i should get a 15x8 with 4 inch of backspacing and 5 on 4.5? with pro comp mt's 33x12.5? -
i havent a clue. does it have to do with how far the wheel sticks out width wize? if i get a 5 inch lift with 15x10 rims and 33x12.5 tires, what backspacing should i have on the rims?
