  1. i will be getting much more then that. but I'm putting 90% of the money away for college and post college expenses. she wanted me to have so much, but we could never afford it, and she wanted me to go to a decent college, and i just want to make her wish come true by finishing my truck and getting a good education.
  2. this truck is kind of a sentimental thing now. my mom passed this week, and she always loved to see me working on this truck. i plan to keep this one and dedicate the work to her.
  3. i don't think ill go that serious with the axles. i wanna do alot with this money. mainly focused on finally having 4wd, and probably new gears and lockers. AND this is still all up in the air, if i will even have any money to do this. edit-question. i don't fully understand the long arm setups. all it is is longer lca's isn't it? i was just going to buy some ajustables so i can put my front spacers in.
  4. paint job can't wait. that is where the rust comes into play. on the other side above the rear wheel well is a hole approximately 10" by 4". and a few more minor spots. those need to be fixed and then some kind of paint will need to go on. i would prefer a proper paint job by maaco, but spray paint might also be the answer.
  5. what would you do with about $6,000 to my truck. first things that need to be done are bodywork and paint, as well as the 4wd swap. as well as the little things that need to be fixed: cab lights, tailgate lever, header panel vinyl is sagging, hose under the hood need to be replaced. i want to do alot of things and keep it under the budget. some things i want are: 4wd swap paint job k&n air filtration system some new lca's and uca's bedliner jcr stage 3 or 4 front bumper, and a matching rear bumper (but no one makes it yet) new heavy duty brakes tube doors new sound system (amp, sub, speakers) bench seat sway bar disco's new brakelnes highflow cat converter basicly i may be coming into some money, and i just want to get this truck completely finished. what are yours idea's.
  6. what if i found a non disco d30 axle, used a newer aw4 trans and newr t-case with matching spline counts? i think those will work together. this is why I'm aiming at finding a cheep 4wd cherokee so i can just swap everything over and not worry about all the matching up. but main reason i asked about a newr trans is becuase i was told that the electrical connections may not match up.
  7. new question... will a 97' aw4 trans work in my 89' manche. or do i need to find one around the same year?
  8. its not quite that simple. not just the handle snapped off, the two metal levers inside are snapped in half.
  9. better pics of the new flared look.
  10. ah my bad, yes you did send me rears. i got the front from my local JY.
  11. fender flares are finally on as well as both vent covers. thanks to mfpdm for the front flares, mirrors, and vent covers! next on the list is new back bumper, and body work (getting rid of the rust) and paint. for paint I'm pretty much set on using hot rod flatz, flat black automotive paint. this is what it looks like: . after all the body work is taken care of, i will finally start on the 4wd swap.
  12. thank you! my question finally answered
  13. still need to know which transmission and transfer case i should run for my 4.0 mj. when looking at xj's, will a 4.0 4wd automatic have the correct transmission and transfercase for my swap?
  14. does anyone know of any bench that may work? ive been looking for one for a longgg time.
  15. sorry i forgot to mention i don't have a dana 30 front axel. I'm still 2wd... but i do have another question. what do stock mj axels come geared with, and what do stock xj's come geared with? I'm hoping they are both 3.55.
  16. my 1989 comanche taks a good while to start up, most the time its six or more turns before she starts up. anyway to get it started quicker? sharper cornering...my lifted comanche is a hassle to park in a crowded parking lot. it actually turns harder to the left then the right. what can i do about getting it to turns sharper? lastly, i think i heard that chevy s-10 bench seat will work in comanches with some modicfications to where you bolt it to the floor? is this true?
  17. i need to know about transmissions and transfer cases. what will and won't work with my 4.0L. and since my comanche is 2wd, what shall i do about obtaining driveshafts, once i have all the 4wd stuff in it? another question. ive found a 2.5L 4speed comanche kind of close. will the transmission and transfer case work out of this if i have a 4.0L? if it does work then the only problem i would have then is the rear drive shaft being to long since the one i found is a long bed, and i have a shortbed.
  18. not sure what you mean by this?
  19. NP231-J T-case from 2000 auto cherokee and AX-15 from 95 Cherokee, will these work with my 4.0 L comanche when i convert to 4wd. sorry i really don't know anything about this stuff. and if i were to buy an XJ for the swap, is there any years that won't work? also what about an aw4 transmisson?
  20. so this arent legit? http://store.summitracing.com/partdetai ... =tuf-63000 http://www.etrailer.com/pc-bumpers~6300 ... medium=ppc
  21. looking for both, but i mianly need a new rear one.
  22. anyone know any good sites for bumpers that fit on comanches. I'm not sure if I'm going to replace them with stock OEM ones, or upgrade the to something more heavy duty.
  23. just making sure, a 4.0 4x4 jeep cherokee would be an appropriate rig for a swap? don't wanna by a junker and not be able to use it for anything.
  24. finally got my muffler hooked up with a new exhaust pipe. flowmaster 40, doesnt sound loud enough, i think I'm going to get a high flow cat. and here's an action shot
  25. i live in PA and don't run fender flares. so far havent gotten ticketed.
