  1. Too many little things going wrong with it. Front D30 is shot. D60 rear needs a new axle bearing and the vent tube moved (blowing diff fluid) I bought it new in 03, and chopped the fenders off in 04
  2. I figured that name suits my build quite nicely, since I've hauled parts for it from all over the east. I picked the 1990 MJ up from a guy in North Carolina back at the end of May, beginning of June. I was already planning on heading to Dayton, TN for the WERock event, so I convinced my buddy that was driving to hook his trailer up and bring it back for me. I talked to the guy a few times, and he assured me it was a rust free MJ, with 140k on it. I sent him a deposit of $400, with the agreement he would hold it until I got there. I met him in Statesville, NC on May 30th, and brought this home: As you can see, the passenger side fender and front grille piece are not original, and probably off of an XJ. The hood doesn't quite fit right, but I'm not too worried as I plan on a 97+ conversion down the road. I jumped right in to gutting it about 2 days after I got it home. I wasn't planning on pulling everything out of it, but as soon as I move the carpet, I figured I was in for a treat. Rust Free eh? Note the hole just above the front inner seat mount. It will get fixed, as it really isn't too bad. Just need to clean everything up Driver floor board. Yep...that's water. I got a free Grant steering wheel, so I put that in one day when I got mad at all the leaks... Full shot of the interior. It has 4dr XJ buckets in it, with that awful rocker mechanism. As you can see, everything is gutted up to the dash. I didn't get pics of it, but there had to be 4 separate sets of speaker wires that were run under the carpet, and along the door trim. It had the mini console in there, but I am going to try and get a 98 XJ console in there. Passenger side floor boards. Not as bad. Just need hit with a wire wheel, then I plan on coating everything with POR15. Everything ripped out on the passenger side :D Both doors are in great shape, minus a dent on the outside of the passenger one. No rust bubbles, and the bottom lip is good too. I had a buddy grab me a set of MJ bucket seat brackets. Not in the best shape as you can see. I think I'm going to drill out the mount points, and weld in the bench mounts that I have. They are almost rust free, and from what I can see, they are exactly the same as the bucket mounts. Seats from a 2dr 98 XJ. Got them for $30, and other than a small tear in the trim fabric, they are mint. Just need a good cleaning...and a way for me to mount them. Bench seat brackets: Rubicon rims These will get a nice coat of black paint on them.(They are muddy in the pic) Got these on the last WERock trip, just outside Columbus, OH. Tailights. Anyone know if a good buff with a car buffer will clean these up enough? Ford Motorsports brake kit for the 8.8. Freebies ROCK!!! I have an 8.8 out of a 92 Explorer. It had drums and 27 spline axles. I got a 31 spline carrier, and Alloy shafts for $20!!! I just need to get it together and swap it in when I get my spring perches from Solid Axle. That will all happen either over the winter, or next year. 98 TJ 4WD lever. Someone had a post about TJ levers, still waiting to hear if it was a direct swap or not. It should fit the 98 full console I am getting. York compressor for OBA eventually, unless mine craps out in the TJ. The old guy next door gave it to me. I think it is out of an old Mercury or something. Is everyone's garage this messy? More pics to come as it progresses. I need to replace the head gasket, but we don't have any in stock at work. Go figure. The most abundant motor in a Jeep in the last 20 years, and we don't have the part in stock. I'll also go over all the little stuff just to make sure it lasts me a while. I figure I'll get it running right now so I can scrap the 89 XJ I have been using as a DD, and so the girlfriend will get off my back about 3 Jeeps. Let me know what your thoughts, ideas, and threats are, as I am always looking to improve...
  3. After a bit more slacking off in the garage tonight, I did find a number on the bulb: M-90. Does that sound right to you, or anyone? Also, after closer inspection, the bulb may be burned out after all. The darn filament is so small its hard to see. The other issue I have is it was never hooked up in the XJ, so I have no idea if it ever worked or not... :D I'll check it out more tomorrow, and see what I can find out.
  4. Its pretty much a standard brass barbed fitting that is bent 90 degrees. We got ours at ACE Hardware. It think it was 99 cents :D If you can get yours out easily, take it in with you and match the threads up to the elbow one. Keep in mind our axle was custom built by Solid, so you may have to drill your breather opening up to use a different one.
  5. Did you use an elbow fitting on it? My friend has a D60 hybrid (60 center, 44 outers) the we had to use an elbow fitting on to get the breather to work right. Hasn't been an issue since.
  6. Question about your underhood light: I just pulled one off my donor XJ, and the bulb looks good, but I can't get it to light up. Of course they riveted them together, so I can't see if something inside is broken... I don't see a number on my bulb. Can you pull yours and get me a part number off of it? Also, are they actuated like the newer TJ ones where the hood has to be up for them to come on? Thanks!
  7. The fact that your wife can drive a standard shift puts you a notch above in my book. My girlfriend won't even consider learning. I guess that's good for me in the long run.
  8. I hope it is. I have one sitting in the garage for my swap as well.
  9. I have never done it, but I think I might if it isn't too hard. I would appreciate some pics of it. Do you have a junk yard replacement?

    Craigslist

I am so sick of trying to deal with people on Craigslist. Could it be any more of a hassle? Last week, I had a deal setup for an Xbox 360 that was broken. The guy wanted $100 for the box. We had a time setup to meet, and the agreed upon price. 2 days before we meet, he sends me an email telling me another person offered him $80 more, and he will "Let me know what is going on." I told him to just forget it. I guess I am the only one that still believes in the "Gentleman's Agreement" way of doing business. This past weekend, I find another deal. This time a PS3. I agree to meet the guy at 11:00 am about 1.5 hours from my house. I end up getting there 15 minutes early, and sit around until 11:30 waiting on him. He never gave me his cell phone number or anything. I drive all the way back home, to find an email from 10:58am that tells me his car is having trouble and he won't make it. I tell him fine, what can we do since I went all that way. NO EMAIL RESPONSE SINCE!!! ...and finally. I have been dealing with a guy in Pittsburgh since mid-June on an MJ with a blown motor. I email asking if it is still around, and he says yes, $200 for the whole thing. I say fine, can I get a better pic than the crappy cell phone one he has in his ad? I wait a few days, and nothing. He then writes and asks what I want pics of. I tell him. Wait a few more days. Write again for pics. He says he has been busy. No big deal I say. Get them when you can. I think about it a bit, and decide that I can use most of the parts I need for my 4X4 conversion, and sell the rest here if need be, so $200 isn't a bad deal. I tell him I'll take it unseen, so send me your #. I call the guy the next night, but he isn't home. I guess I get his dad on the phone and tell him I want to come get the whole thing the next day for the agreed upon price of $200. This guy tells me "For the whole thing? I don't think that was what he wanted." I said whatever, just have him call me when he gets in, no matter how late it is, I'll be up. No call. Send another email. Now the story changes. "$200 isn't enough. The price of scrap is too high now." Seriously? The price of scrap went up that much since we started dealing? Now the guy won't take less than $600 for it. Looks like his old man yelled at him for trying to sell it so cheap. I guess I was the idiot for talking to his dad about it too. I'm done with CL. Too many bad sales has really ruined it for me. If you read all that...I applaud you. Rant Off
  11. WooHoo! I am the winner!!! Crap...now if they get messed up, I am to blame...
  12. Washing machine...washing machine!!!!
  13. If you are going to wash them: Gentle cycle in cold, then hang to dry. I also have a place in my washer for liquid fabric softener. They come out nice and clean, and are very soft. It made putting them back on easier because they were more pliable with the fabric softener :D
  14. I work at 4WD Hardware. I just have to walk to the showroom to get these. The $170 is the showroom cost, and I pay much lower for them....actually lower than the ones on Precision :brows:
  15. Anyone have experience with the Python Venom injectors? I can get a set of 6 for ~$170, so I may go that route. Part # 648-263
  16. $299 is for 8 injectors :D
  17. So are the 30lb injectors only for the strokers?
  18. Back on topic: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetai ... toview=sku I see there is a difference in the part number here with the addition of the extra B in the last portion. Will these still work? I have a buddy that works there, and if these will be a direct bolt in, I am all over them. I didn't see FMS-M9593-B302 listed on the Summit site.
  19. I change my opinion!!! I didn't see the resolution difference. The RAM upgrade will be cheap. The only issue would be the hard disk speed.
  20. Asus... For the money you are getting twice the RAM, faster hard disk, and a few other things. I use a Dell laptop at home, Dell PC at work, and have repaired many throughout the years. I have also had Asus motherboards in my personal gaming/video editing systems for a long time. I like the Asus stuff a bit better than Dell as of late.

    93 2Dr XJ

Dang you California guys...even the junk doesn't have rust on it!!!!
  22. Not true. Forum software does not decrease the number of the member if Pete or Eagle were to remove someone. All that happens is that number is removed from the database. The next new user would be incremented just the same as the last, so JeepcoMJ will always be 757, unless Pete changes the type of software the forum uses.
  23. I plan on using mine as a DD for a few years. I already have a built TJ, and that will see the trail more now.
  24. Dang it... I found a set of 98 2-dr XJ buckets really cheap. I also got a set of MJ bucket brackets coming cheap as well. I guess the welder will need broken out? There has to be a simpler solution. I'm all over this. I'll post pics and a writeup once I have it done, unless there is one out there I missed?
  25. I am ASSuming the leak is across the entire bottom of the window. It is parked on a slight incline with the cab facing downhill. Silicone will be fine for the under dash stuff, but I'd like to keep the interior as clean as possible. I suppose I could do it and still make it look nice... I'll check it out this weekend and see what I find. Dang weather is too hot right now to do anything....
