I get about 3-4 feet of extensions and one of them knuckles (Like a U-joint, universal joint) and go past the T/C and use a ratchet up there. This one requires a helper while breaking them loose you need someone to hold the extension near the bolt so it does not pop off the head. I have changed 3 of them that way. First one I changed took a couple of hours :fs1: (I have big hands), second and third too 40 minutes. That includes driving to advanced and back! I do NOT drop the tranny and t/c sounds like a lot of work. 8 less bolts I have to take out. :D

Fixed oil blow by but now......
moparmatt replied to Falder's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
My little brothers 89 XJ. Take a used empty oil/tranny and disconnect the hose and move it to a bottle, make sure it can move the nasty blow by down hill. Have tried the remedy's (sea foam, Lucas, and a couple of others.) they do not work in the long run, they are just a band-aid. Truly the only way is the rebuild it, like project88mj said to stop it. -

That is what I would think, working in construction suppliers what proof. Some of the suppliers have signs on the door, business accounts only! -
Renix Alternator Upgrade?
moparmatt replied to moparmatt's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Do you know of one that is 105A and which GM has one under the hood? I like option 3, Where could I get a voltage regulator? Do you know of any vehicles I could pull one from at the JK? So just swap the delco bracket for the ND bracket and use a ND alt from a v8 zj or durango. And use a external voltage regulator from "x"? Do you think I could get way from using swapping the fuse able link and wires to bigger ones for a few weeks if I do this. If not I will just do option 1. -
Hello all! My 88 MJ 4.0L alternator is going out. You should hear the bearing getting ready throw, LOL. I am running a nice stereo, h4 headlights, and some offroad lights And maybe in the future when I build a new bumper it may have a winch on it? This is where I wish I had a H.O. but I have the Renix. (had a 136amp on my 95XJ from a Durango) Renix has different regulator than new ones. What are my options of getting a more amp alternator for the Renix? I would like to goto a junk yard and get one. Instead of have mine rebuilt to a 120 or 136 or whatever. Think cheap!!! And in the spring when it warms up I will upgrade the wiring/fuseable link. I need to do that anyway for my headlights. Thanks

MJ's are the 200mm/H6054 style correct? Can anybody recommended any bulbs? It seems the Hella 60/55W Xenon 50+ seem to be a good deal. I wonder how good they are? BTW do you know the coupon code? Thanks

PM GRIMUS99XJ on NAXJA He is a sale rep or something like for Rough Country. I believe if you order though him he will give you a 10% discount, you still have to pay shipping. Talk to him and see what he has to say.

Who sells the Hella e codes? I cannot find any on ebay.

steering hitting disco's
moparmatt replied to moparmatt's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
To be honest, I have seen tons of XJ/MJ rigs and only seen a few front skids. And most of them were on stock rigs for show and not wheeling. Do you really need a front skid plate? I understand, I have the same problem if I have something sitting in my garage I need to install on my rig. -

Take a joke buddy, Did you really think I though you were going send me money. I work very hard, I just like to spend my money wisely. I hate throwing money to fix problems, it only causes problems. Like I was saying I work hard I perfer to use my hands and brain to develop a solution, than my wallet, that is why I asked for advice. I understand were you are coming from with the safety issue, I assure it will not be half @$$. Keep it easy Matt -

$314 dollars + shipping!!!!!!! There has to be a cheaper solution. I agree that my steering is maxed out and getting relocation's will only mask the problem until I keep breaking joints. -
When I turn right where the drag link meets the tie rod the joint hits my disconnect swaybar endlink on the passenger side. I upgraded to v8 ZJ steering and pitman arm because the track bar was not parallel with the draglink. Now it is. Any ideas to fix it, so it does not hit. FYI I have about 6" of lift. Thanks

I know I want to be able to air down so 15x8 would be a must. It looks like my only two options are 4" and 4.75". Looks like I am going with 4" Thanks

I got some coin saved up and I am going to get some Cragar D windows 15x8 5on4.5. I will end up with a 33 12.5x15. I like the wide tire look on XJ/MJ. Will 4.75" of BS work on my MJ I am lifted about 6". Does anyone else run 4.75" with out any problems? TIA

SOA pinion angle question

Does a full size ford DS bolt right in? Or what do you have to do to make it work right? I am trying to spend the least amount of coin on this? -

SOA pinion angle question
moparmatt replied to moparmatt's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks for the help But what do I do if I want a SYE and the straight DS? Where should I set my angles at? FYI I am going about ~6.5 or whatever -
I am currently in the middle of doing a D35 to C8.25 SOA swap on my 88 long bed MJ 4.0L PukeGoat 231. The DS is the stock one piece. FYI I got a s.y.e. because I plan on going up about ~6.5" or whatever. My question is what do I set my pinion angle at with my DS setup? I know WITHOUT a s.y.e. you want the pinion/output shaft to be parallel with each other and a good rule is to set the pinion about 2* lower for take off. But what do I do with a s.y.e. setup or is it the same as without a s.y.e.? Help I confused? :???: :dunno: TIA  Oh yeah, I did search this really did not find direct info for the s.y.e. angle setup
