what cherokee parts will fit the comanche
hopper replied to Goblin22's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Basicly everything from the doors forward, (sheet metal, running gear). -
Thanks, slow going , between work and very low budget, and battleing the cold no heat in the barn.

A few pics of our progress. Had to put it outside so my oldest boy could work on his car. 31's with stock rims and no lift. Lots more to do , but now it moves under it's own power Just had to throw this one in My DD and my sisters DD.

The bolt up on the tail lights are totaly different , the only tail lights that fit the 'manche is from a 'manche.
-
The bumper mounts to the bumper bracket (with two bolts each bracket ) that are bolted to the frame rails (with the three bolts each bracket mentioned in previous post). If I remember right the mounts are somewhat slotted ,to move the bumper side to side. If I'm wrong you have bent brackets. :hmm:

I didn't get any pics of my 89 before I swapped in a 93 2.5, sorry. If you put up some pics I might be able to help you, or some others might be able to jump on it.

:agree:

Didn't think of checking there  Thanks for that one..

I didn't get pics up, my bad. I've got a lot done on the MJ this year. My 10 yr. old helped me put the motor , tranny , transfer case , front axle in. He wants to learn about turnin' wrenches. Swapped out the wire harness, hung the fenders , put header panel on and the hood, still need to finish the interior, change the rear end and shorten the driveshaft. It's taking quit a bit of time but getting there, maybe I will be able to drive it this year.I hope!!!

Ok I'm pretty sure I read it on here but don't remeber where.( I swapped a 93 4 banger into my 89 MJ ) On a post on here I am sure I read that the fuel pump in the 89 will not push enough pressure for the 93 I4,Or maybe I'm going nuts. :dunno:

thanks for that info..

Anybody have measurement of the driveshaft for a swb-2.5-ax5-231-D 35. I checked the write-up on the length and nobody has added it yet. I went from 2wd to 4wd and need to cut the shaft down. Any help would be awsome... :help:

Stubborn firewall connectors
hopper replied to comanche 88's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Should be one bolt in the center of the plug on the engine bay side , can't remeber what size but small , and two under your dash. -
Well, I finally got the time to strip out my mj. Work on it has been slow, but getting there. Plans are to keep it a daily driver pretty much for now. It's an '89 , 2.5 , 4sp. , 2wd , have a doner '93 xj . Both fenders , hood , pass. door , grill , bumper , all had damage some more than others. Not to bad on the floor , the floor plug came out when I was wire wheeling the floor. I'll try to remember to put up pics on the progress. Sometimes I get ahead of myself.

couple spots that are bad, think I got lucky both fenders, hood, and pass. door had a lot of damage.
-
My bad I didn't give much info on them. Both are four bangers , mj is two wheel drive,xj is four wheel drive. Mj needs whole front clip and doors .I was going to use one of my 84 xj's to build my mj. I picked up a 2000 xj in MA. for 3,500 in mint shape. Got my wife to finally stop driving the 93 , now I can use it for a doner. Hopefully when it warms up a bit I can throw some pics on here. Thanks again for the info guys

Thanks guys, I wasn't sure when I did a search I read a couple that spliced wires in. Probably would be best to change it all and be more updated anyway.
-
Hey, haven't been on in a while. Quick one, to use a 93 xj for a doner for my 89 mj do I have to change the whole wiring haness?

Project Tetanus - H4s & Herculiner
hopper replied to UNL1MTD's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Sorry it just stuck out to me , just thought I'd mention it. Nice project you got going there, don't need something like that messing it up. My project looks something like the one you junked, ( for now ) moneys running tight these days.
