1992 Jeep Comanche Eliminator Build date: August 1991 4.0L, AX-15, 2wd, D44 rear, Short bed Inland Empire, Southern California Project awaiting repair to get back on the road. Colorado Red, full Eliminator body sticker set. Charcoal grey cloth buckets. Lowered, Caltracs, TJ Moab wheels, roll pan rear bumper
  2. Truck is up for sale:
  3. Great suggestions. Bought a spark tester. I know I used a plug grounded to the block when it first died to test, and I assume it had spark but I'll give it another go. And test the CPS and peak inside the cap.
  4. Background: Truck died while accelerating leaving work about a 1.5 years ago. Got it towed home and haven't been able to start it since (not that I've tried a lot). 1992 Comanche with a 4.0 from a 1998 XJ. Will crank for days but does not turn over. - Replaced: CPS, coil, fuel pump and filter - tested fuel pressure, it was a little low during cranking but not horrible. Replaced the pump and filter anyways. I love this truck but it has just been rotting away not getting driven and I hate that. Any advice on what else to troubleshoot? Thanks.
  5. It's from a 2nd gen, 1995-2005. I got mine off of a 4 door if I remember correctly.
  6. Thanks, I don't think I'd ever really sell it. I just don't drive it enough. The roll pan is for an S-10, this is the one I used: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/GMK-EFXRP09 It took a lot of trimming and figuring out a way to mount it to make it work.
  7. Time for my yearly update. Just been driving this thing from time to time on the weekend and the occasional trip to Home Depot. I was toying with the idea of getting rid of it but thought better of it and started buying stuff for it again. It has some nasty spring wrap since I put the lowering blocks on making doing burnouts impossible without massive wheel hop. I was going to do a Ruff Stuff traction bar then a pair of Caltracs popped up for sale on Instagram of all places. Solved the problem, thing is even more fun to drive now, I can't seem to take a corner without sliding it anymore. They definitely hang low, but not really an issue for this truck. Also, I need some new tires soon, been thinking about the BFG G-force Sport in a smaller diameter and a little wider. And I finally pulled the trigger on some Eliminator decals from Jeepsticker.com. Tough to install properly but damn they look good. Only have the driver's side finished so far, I need to get some dent repair work done on the passenger side still. And trying out the new night sight mode on my phone
  8. Thanks! Took quite a bit of cutting to make it work. Yah, Chevy bar. 7/8".
  9. Long time no update, still have the truck though. Over the last year I've swapped the trans out for a rebuilt one with and external slave, went through a battle with smog testing which ended up being a cracked APN manifold so I replaced that with a newer version, adapted and S-10 roll pan to to rear bumper and FINALLY got the Dana 44 underneath it. New style APN header vs. Old Roll-pan fitment and final product, body working the tailgate too. Lot of bondo from the previous owner(s). Fit isn't perfect but close enough and it's not permanent so I can always go back to the original bumper. Plan to dump the exhaust too. 44 with 3.73 gears, a trac-lok and discs off of an Explorer. Also replaced all the suspension bushings with poly and added a sway bar off of a Blazer. Getting a driveshaft made up now, last piece of the puzzle then go make 11's.
  10. Rear wheel spacers are 1.5" and the lowering blocks are steel and originally designed for a Chevy S-10. Here's the link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/201314842386?item=201314842386&viewitem=&vxp=mtr
  11. Yep, that sounds about right.
  12. The rear ZJ coils I used were a direct swap. What year? Moar info please! I *think* the rear springs for all years of the ZJ (93-98) are the same. I got mine out of a V8, but like I said I think only the fronts differ between year/trim level/engine. But I could be wrong.
  13. Sweet truck, my favorite color and it's a two door!
  14. Thanks guys. @91Pioneer yeah sometimes I get carried away with the photo filters. Wannabe photographer syndrome.
  15. The rear ZJ coils I used were a direct swap.
  16. Got some more Ebay parts, spaced out the rear wheels 1.5" so they are flush with the flares. I think it looks much better. Also swapped in a set of Cherokee shackles, that got the rear sittin' just right. No pics of it out of the garage because the clutch it acting really weird and it's very hard to shift. I've vacuum bled it twice now, need to try something else as its pretty much undrivable at the moment.
  17. Found a '91 XJ in the junkyard with a pretty cherry interior, $12 for the seat. Bam, done. Unfortunately I made the mistake of washing to seat cover before I put it back on and it's much cleaner looking (and better smelling) than the rest of the seat. :ack:
  18. Is this worth trying to fix? I'm not sure how to go about fixing it because the foam is glued to the metal and I'm sure the foam would just burn if I tried to weld it. Are the seat pans in the MJ/XJ the same? If so it is easy enough to find one at the junkyard since all I need is the actual seat pan. Truck is a '92 with buckets.
  19. Thanks Bo, coincidentally I'm gonna see the crew this weekend! Switched the rad cap to a 16lbs and tried a different coolant temp sensor, but it still runs a little hot and not turning the fan on. If I run the AC the efan seems to even out the temp, so I'm not too worried about it at the moment. Shortened up the sway bar links, please don't laugh, they're sensitive about their size. Took it for a wash and drive, I forgot how fun the 5 speed is. Fun breaking the rear end loose around corners. I think I'm going to try a XJ shackle, its a little high in the rear still. Front and back

    28mm sway bar

I hear they exist... I bring my micrometer with me to the junkyard every time I go and I have yet to find one. Anyone have one they're willing to sell? I'm located in Long Beach, CA
  21. Fuel leak fixed at the regulator, here's the p/n for the seals if anyone's interested: 05013721AB. This is for the early H.O. fuel pressure regulator. Drove it around the neighborhood, runs great and suspension feels really good, even with the sway bar disconnected because I haven't shortened the links yet. Stoked that the ZJ springs worked out. Only issue I noticed is the motor is running hotter than normal and the electric fan isn't coming on at 210. It comes on when the AC is switched on or when the coolant temp sensor is unplugged, so not sure what the problem is, possibly air in the system giving a false reading? I did drill and tap the rear of the 0630 head for the 7120 head temp sender.
  22. No worries, yes they are different. It's a set of two different sized one's. I found part number 05013721AB, gonna try that.
  23. Making progress. The motor swap is 100% complete. I even fired it up for about three seconds until I noticed a three foot long jet of fuel coming out of the pressure regulator. Turns out the o-rings are next to impossible to find. I really don’t want to spend $50 on a new regulator just to get the o-rings, anybody have a source or part number? Also got started on the suspension drop. I used the rear coils off a ZJ to drop it down 2”s in the front. It’s almost sitting on the bumpstops now so I’ll need to trim those up, but I’m pretty happy with the look. We’ll see if the coils are too soft or not. Alternatively if they are I can cut the stock coils. Used so drop blocks for an S-10 that I got off eBay for the rear. It’s fairly level from front to back, pretty happy with the look. Still need to dial it in a little more, align the toe angle and shorten the swaybar links, but considering the pace I’ve been going on this thing I’m happy to have gotten this far. Before: After:
  24. I stopped dicking around and ordered the clutch kit, the difference between the new and old friction discs was about .5mm on average, but I'm glad I replaced everything hopefully won't have to touch it again for a long time. Ended up replacing the input seal on the AX-15 as well while I had it apart. Also drilled and tapped the head for the temp sender, that was a little nerve racking but went super smoothly. Got the two halves mated back together and all the accessories, ignition and fuel components from the '92 installed. Just waiting on a new crank seal, harmonic balancer and CPS and this thing should be ready to go back in. Then on to suspension and the rear end.
