I would just tape it off and then use an exacto knife to cut out the recessed areas. It should be easy if you use the recessed edge. Chris

4.0 Cone Style Intake for Cheap?
cromanyak replied to Ben-88Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Here's mine. I think I paid 20 for the filter on Ebay and 15 for chrome tube at Autozone. It comes with adaptors for your vacuum lines. -
Put some different wheels on the jeep. They're off an 87 Nissan 300ZX. It definitely handles better now.
-
Run the power wire from the speaker lights to the positive side of the switch then run the ground wire to the switch. If the switch doesn't have a ground then use a bolt on the body to attach the ground wire to. If you don't know which side of the switch is positive you'll need a multimeter. Chris

If your using spray can primer it will keep bubbling up. The only primer that's not pourous and won't let moisture in is epoxy primer that you spray with a spray gun. You'd be better off using actual paint if your going to use a spray can.

I'd definitely get one that has a nozzle that sprays a fan pattern. You'll be less likely to get striping that way. They're usually more expensive though. Do you have an Ollies nearby. We have one and they usually have epensive paint. 4 or 5 dollar a can stuff, for 99 cents. Chris

If he doesn't want them I'll take them. Chris

Hi all. Haven't had much issues with the jeep until just recently. Sometimes when I start it the idle will go up to around 3000 and stay there. It goes away after I drive for a minute, but if I turn it off and restart it it does the same thing. Any ideas what might be causing this? Chris

It's glued to the carpet. I just put it in a week or two ago, but I'll keep you updated. Chris
-
Yeah it's molded carpet I got from Ebay. It fit pretty decent. I think I paid about $90 with shipping, but it only had padding attached to front where you feet are. It stops right before the seat brackets. Chris

Stereo and console are DONE. Hopefully. Now all that' left is the dash, bucket seats, headliner, and matching seat belts.

Anyone have any recommendations for a light to mount above the rear window to light up the bed?

Interior courtesy lights
cromanyak replied to attaboybob's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The first ones are pretty much the same as the ones I got from Advance Auto. -
Woop, I must have forgot to post it. Here's a link to the seller's page. I don't see any listed now you may have to request one. http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/smsheadliners Chris

I know alot of people are missing their headliners. I found these ones on Ebay. So I thought I'd let everyone know. I was planning on making my own but the price of these seem reasonable. Chris

cold air intake pics?
cromanyak replied to undercoverwalrus's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Here's mine. It's just generic filter and I used the intake kit from AutoZone. I think all in all it cost $25. Your right though. It's not a cold air intake. A cold air intake get's it's air from outside the engine bay. I honestly don't think it would be worth the effort to make true cold air intake though. -
Here's my interior about 75% done. I still need a console and I need to paint the dash. I'd also like to find bucket seat, but I just have a cover for now.
-
On the drivers side it does appear to be coming from the fire wall. I just don't know where yet. I was just thinking. I wonder if it would be a good idea when I install the new carpet to put plastic between the carpet and the padding? Chris
-
Well up until now I though my truck was rust free. Then I pulled the carpet and found this. The only hole is by the e-brake so I guess it's not too bad. Are there any common places where water gets in? There's these 2 things that look like round access panels and they were lifted up a little. Could those be the culprit? Image Not Found

I was considering using fabric paint on mine. I have one that's tan and one that's grey, and I'd like them both to be blue. I haven't had a chance to try it yet though. Has anyone else? Chris
-
I think a black, grey, and white camo would be cool.

If only I had a welder. Chris

Do the dakota seats work with the MJ brackets or do you have to fabricate new ones? Chris

Hey do you still want to get rid of that boot? Chris
