  1. According to some Jeep "experts" 4.56's were available with the 2.8 if equipped with some special options. I think this was the 2.8's version of a tow package gearing. Not sure what rear axle it came with, but due to the yr, I am going to assume it was the D35 non c-clip. Patrick
  2. Like I said earlier I ended up using the Terra flex Long arms, and I am pleased with them except for the tire rub issue. Flex is great even though it is syil a 4 link system and not a radias arm style. Ride is also great. All I have to say is don't always believe what you read, and don't not try something cause a few "web wheelers" knock your proposed setup. MY second setup was knocked by lots of ppl till I took it to Tellico, and they watched it flex and do better then a lot of the other vehicles in our group. Second setup was RE DB's with stock uppper and lowers with 6.5 coils, and a D35  :D My d35 held together while I grenaded a lock right  Talk about a shock. Did I mention this was on all terrian tires :-D
  3. I posted some links to pics and video of my rig in the tech section. I think it was on page 3 of the sticky about MJ's
  4. My front bumper is a Rigid Co FBW, I am currently working on my front stinger for this  My rear bumper is something I made on my own.... It is made out of 2x4x1/4 Cchannel for the back, and the sides of it are 2 x4x1/4 tubing. This was my third attempt at a rear bumper. It is tied in using all the stock bolt holes plus reciever hitch mounting points. I ended up cutting the lower portion of my bed off... it was well dented, and kept on getting hits so it had to go. Ubfortunately I don't have any current pics of it. Patrick
  5. Love your plans :D Mine are not to far off from yours, but I am looking to put a 14 Bolt and a D60 under mine with dual cases  I am slowly but surely collecting the needed parts. I figure in roughly a yr or so I wil have all of them. Once my tired 4.0 gives up, I plan on going with a small v-8 or the vortec v-6  Only reason is they are cheap, and abundant.. means less cost in building them. Patrick
  6. When I ordered my LOng arms, I seriously looked at the TNT custom. Problem was... I knew there were differences, and They were not sure of what they were. I just couldnt drop that kinda coin to go buy a part that might not work w/o considerably mods. Just the long arms and belly pan are 850-900. The one thing I do like is the fact that the arms are clearance for your tires.
  7. Since my rig is door less, I had to do something to be "legal". I bought a set of used CJ7 mirrors and mounted mine to the top drivers door hinge. Is it pretty... NOPE.... does it work OH he77 yeah. I would suggest you try some motorcyle mirrors. Patrick
  8. I live in a farming/ Marina area, and I see at least 2-3 a day. Most are in very good condition, and are driven by older ppl. The j-yard up the road has 4 of them, there isnt much left to them though. Patrick
  9. I have never flat towed. I jumped right on in it. I went and bought a 2500 HD, and an 18'x82" car trailer to tow my rig. Before I went to Tellico, I always vowed to drive my stuff both ways, well after causing much carnage and burning up my ALTernatyor, then driving 450 miles on battery alone (auto parts stores in Murphy NC don't open till after church), with all kinds of DW, I decided if I go on a ride... I trailer it. Patrick
  10. The myth out there that all Xj's with a 4 banger have 4.10's is false. Some came with 3.73's, so check first. As for just swapping the entire drivetrain over... It isnt that easy. the 4cyl has a different wiring harness then the 4,0. Also you wil have to change the frame mounts and a few other things. If you are going to go through the trouble of swapping rear axles, and doing the welding and what not... I recommend swapping in an axle that is stronger then the D35. I swapped 2 in before I swapped an 8.8 in. Patrick
  11. I posted all my vitals on my rigs in the Pub section. But in this post I will put a link to my Webshots and to a cool video clip of my MJ in action at the last Trail ride I went on. Here is the link to my web shots http://community.webshots.com/user/cj7xjmj http://www.zippyvideos.com/1208749221344956/pong_1/ That was the first time I really tested out my new suspension, and it was a lot different then the last time I rode in Pong. Patrick
  12. My name is Patrick. I currently own 2 MJ's. Lil POng is my 89 4.0 with an ax15. It rides on a 4.5" rusty's coil, with pro comp lower control arms, with their adjustable trac bar. Rear is a d35non c-clip, with a trak lok, and 4.10's front and rear. It rolls on 30x9.5 BFG MT's and stock steelies. My other rig is Ping Pong. It is in its third build since I started wheeling it. Currently is rides on Terra flex Long arms, with rusty's 6.5 coils. RE super flex uppers, RE HD trac bar and brace. Terra flex High steer. DT shocks. The front axle is a D30 with yukon chromoly shafts with 760 u-joints, it also has a lock right, and 4.10's. Axle has been trussed and the passenger side, and it has LCA skids as well. The rear is sitting on Alcan springs with 2" of lift, an 8.8 with a factory LSD. It also has a lift shackle (auctually a chevy lowering shackle). As fotr armor, it has a Rigid co FBW bumber with a el cheapo winch. Home made rock rails, and a home made rear bumper, with rock rail sides. I wheel this rig kinda hard, and ppl from other forums have seen some pics of the abuse I put my rig through. If any one has any questions about it... feel free to ask. Patrick
  13. You didnt say what kind of Tranny you have. If you have an auto (especially the AW4) the TPS can go bad and cuase what you describe. The TPS controls the tranny somewhat, and when it starts going will cause the tranny to "search" for a gear giving it that feeling. Patrick
  14. I ended up spending the coin on a set of Alcans. They ride and flex great. They were kinda pricey at 390 plus shipping, but I have been very pleased with them so far. Patrick
