Broken track bar

This was not fun, in the city crossing 4 lains and pow it did not go were i wanted it to go pucker factor x10. :headpop:

Could've been worse. Could have been a tierod.

 

Duct tape it back together, it'll be fine.

OK we need details... was it stock or after market... where was the break at... the upper side, or the lower side?

Its the BDS bar and it broke at the threds on the top side. The worst part is i did not have my sway bar hooked up. :eek:

2 weeks ago this happened to comanche87 too. It broke right at the bottom of the threaded part that goes into the bracket where it meets the end. It was stock. We had to get a new bracket because the piece that broke off had rust welded itself in place. We even beat it with a hammer for 2 hrs trying to get it out.

I am not familar with their setup, but was the Jamb nut tight (if present)? I have a few stock Bars and brackets laying around if you need one to get by until you get a replacement.

Was it the bar itself that broke or was it the end link (heim joint, or TRE)?

It was the threded rod patr that is adjustable were the jamnut is to lock it in place. it broke above the jam nut.

So is it just as simple as replacing the joint at the top? Then that isnt too bad :brows:

Cool -- if you live to tell about it. If you haven't experienced it ... unlike the (anti)sway bar, there is nothing even remotely optional about the track bar. Without it, you have no steering.
