chicofuentes0224
Anybody have one? I changed out my fan clutch today and noticed there's no bottom part to it. Is that normal? Sorry I don't have anything else to reference to.
Geonovast
There is supposed to be a bottom part to it. I broke mine when I pulled the motor out of my XJ, and when it went back in, the shroud did not.
BLHTAZ
Seems to be a common problem. When I bought my truck it didn't have the bottom on it either. I replaced it when I did the cooling system conversion. They are not expensive...even at the dealership.
HOrnbrod
For the 4.0's they are about $20 at the dealer; I just got one for the electric fan conversion. Here's a pic of the shroud (w. an electric fan in it). Image Not Found
chicofuentes0224
K, thanks guys. Would not having that bottom part have a negative effect on the cooling system? What I'm really asking is getting a new one going to actually help keep the engine temp cooler?

The shroud is designed to direct and pull the most air through the rad, so if part of it's missing, you're not getting the best efficiency (such as it is) of the mech fan. So I would say most definitely it effects cooling.
