technique is more important than product. PSP works great and Photoshop can botch anything just as bad.

 

For basic coloring try making a new layer that has a block that is the shape of your truck paint. Call it "Base Paint" and don't alter it.

 

Then copy that layer and call the copy "Pink". Turn off the "Base Paint" layer. Fill the solid section on "Pink" with red or pink and then turn down the transparency of the layer to allow the truck to come through.

 

Repeat for "Orange", "Hot Pink" whatever, turning off all layers except the color you're working with and the base truck.

 

It won't win any awards, but if you squint you can get an idea how your truck might look.
